Intro

Welcome, Before we get on to the story, If any of you decided to look around my latest posts recently, maybe to try and figure out which threads I could have shamelessly self promoted about in the SDRP birthday thread you would have found FoodFight in a Missle Base! and Food Empty 2: Ashes of HellFire (yea, the name changed). Now you may be saying to yourself, 'a trilogy before ether of the first two are even going yet? are you nuts?' yes, yes I am. but also each of them are different, almost totally, the original RP is based out of the chatterbox, not at all serious, and probably wont ever take off; Empty 2 is in Barton town, tries to be somewhat serious, has structure in the setup, its an actual RP, not a jack-around thread like FFMB. Empty 3 follows this trend of change by not really at all being about food fighting, and also the world is larger.

Obviously since their running simultaneously they cant be totally linear, say someone dies in FFMB and the character is a huge part of the story in Empty 2, that would really screw things up, so we're gonna say that they take place in different but extremely similar 'universes'; so dont worry about causing paradoxes

The Story

--History

In the beginning there was this base, a missile base, or a missle base if you want the spelling to be consistent; and there were some people, not nearly the amount there should be, and the place seemed a bit abandoned. Other than all the food laid out that is, like there was going to be a banquet or something. And the people don't really know much about whats going on. Some of the people, maybe all of the people (it hasn't come up yet) don't remember stuff, stuff they should remember, who they are, how they got there, how they know stuff about the base.

Eventually some of the missiles got launched and the whole world went to hell, the base survived with some minor structural damage and a lot of scorching. Before the missile thing the base was locked up tighter than Fort Knox but they blew the gates out opening the story to a rather large city outside the base, far enough that you'll want a vehicle but easily visible. The city was pretty well trashed by the detonations, most buildings aren't built to stand explosions like these but the nearest one was far enough that most of the damage is blown out windows and burning. It was close enough, and of some strange type, that most of the people, save for those in bunker like areas, were totally eradicated, even the bones, there was time before the missiles hit and some people were able to take cover but a lot of the survivors were total accidents. For whatever odd reason a lot of the cities functions still functioned, some power, most of the water and sewage, a surprising number of cars. As an apparent side effect of the detonations the world has been tinged a reddish orange, most evidently the now cloudless sky

--Present

This one starts out with a 'Space Elevator' having just been discovered in a secluded and hard to find part of the base. This Space Elevator goes up to a Space Station, this space station is part of an ungodly huge network of space stations connected by cable cars and open space walkways and some other systems like mini-spacecraft, and at a few places teleporters, but these take a massive amount of power and can only send to one place per unit. The space station network spans almost the whole world, except for the poles, like a shell around the earth, three layers deep. Most of the stations don't have any sort of faux gravity and are generally what you would think of as a modern space station, but some of them are huge reactor stations, generating power for the stations in their region, some have huge spinning disk sections and seem to be the place people would live, as well as domes for growing food and countless other specialty structures. One of which is the elevator end station, placed seemingly at random across the network these elevators connect to the earth, some of them have been damaged, destroyed, or just had their elevator cables snapped, probably by the missiles exploding.

Just like everywhere else the station network is oddly vacant but seems fully capable of staying functional with out people unlike the city that is quickly falling into disrepair and should soon have all its services, water/power/sewage/cars be rendered inert from lack of upkeep.

But there is one more problem, Memories are starting to disappear, not like people having sudden full amnesia like some people did when they first woke up, more like things just fading out and not coming back, not specific things ether. Why is this happening, How is this happening? At the moment nobody knows, that seems to be a general theme, unexplained stuff.

--The World.

As it stands there is the missile base, the city outside it, the space stations, and some places that also have space elevators but for now lets keep to the first three. The base is pretty much shut down, it has all these emergency systems for if there was something huge like global apocalypse but most of it is off, not many things going on there. The city has a group of people that have come together to try and survive but it wasn't built to run with out anybody watching out for it and eventually all the stuff that keeps it running will cease up, water will stop flowing, sewage will build up, cars will run out of gas, and sooner or later the food will run out; and its in desert so they cant really grow anything. The space stations on the other hand seem like a perfect place to go, but their in space, who knows what dangers that presents especially since pretty much nobody knows how to work any of this stuff. From space the view of the earth is totally alien, the oceans have shrunk, the clouds are gone, there is no visible plant life, and that is all after you get past that it is now a rust colored ball instead of a blue/green marble. but on the space stations there isn't the red tinge that there is on the ground, everything is the proper color

--Extra Note

I'll figure out a better name for this section tomorrow but I don't feel that I've adequately describe what the RP is really about and its a few hours past bed time.

the world that was has gone out with a bang, the world that remained is collapsing, you could consider this a survival RP, but I think that entails some being is trying to kill you, and theres also this whole new world in space, with all this technology and everything the people need. Naturally with all this goings on people are going to be suspicious and highly stressed. maybe the best term would be a desert island/alien world RP.

Then there are also three major regions, four maybe, that people come from, and theres a good chance people from the city are going to be distrustful of the people from the base and vice versa, and the both of them distrustful of anybody that may be found on the space stations or regions that other space elevators lead to, so these people will likely be distinctively separate groups, but support each other since they are all people.

I'd also like to say this on its own since I cant think of where to edit it in, this one, FFMB3, is starting just before the elevator is discovered

Characters

---
User name: lily546a
Character Name: Lily --
phys. Description: About five and a half feet, short hair as if she had recently shaved her head but about an inch has grown back, not long enough to have color yet. Very skinny making her military muscles look exaggerated, but her left arm seems withered but not much. There is a long thin scar, seeming fairly fresh, no more than a half year old, along the right side of her neck from just below the jawline to just above the collar bone, located just in front of her ear; you probably wouldn't notice it at the start. Her outfit is a pair of olive-drab jeans, a matching long sleeve light jacket, and a white work t-shirt, standard army boots.
other stuff: Lily is unable to speak, in place of speech she uses a little white board on a chain; She was also of the group of people that lost their memories at the beginning
---
User Name: lily564a
Character Name: IROE
phys. Description: Iroe, Intelligent Robotic Operation Entity, is an AI system that maintains the section of the space network that the base's elevator goes to, he has a main body that normally runs around on a rail that goes into all major areas and can load himself into an assortment of alternate bodies for more specific tasks. His main body seems to be built out of silvery oval cylinders linked by thin black rods, with just an arm like appendage in place of legs, it connects him to the rail.

Other: He can command a small army of drones that are similar to but simpler than his normal body's design, typically when hes not telling them what to do they just run about the station on their own keeping it all running. Iroe is an experimental military variant on what most of the rest of the network runs, his AI is more realistic and more human, built to be able to work seamlessly with the inhabitants, eventually dropping all the walls between the people and the machines and raising the effectiveness of both.

Iroe is generally calm but can seem a bit rushed, though still calm, which can be comfusing, very monotone, easily gets lost in his own thoughts but keeps talking and eventually leaves you behind if you dont get his attention

It was approaching mid day, sunlight was starting to reach the bottom of the deep silo. It played off the displays and shiny elements of the consoles around the edge, dancing on the curved wall and annoying the crap out of Lily who was trying to sleep just inside the entrance. It can be hard to notice the passage of time in the mostly skyless undergrounds of the base, she had arrived at the silo when the sky was still black.

Iroe had been going about his daily routine, checking things, instructing drones, he had a nagging feeling that something was wrong, something other than the recent unexplained detonations on the planet below. His records of the planet below had been corrupted so he knew nothing about it. Other than data about the planet all his logs beyond a few weeks ago were totally irrecoverable and the other ROEs couldn't find theirs ether. He had told his thinktank to look into this but they hadn't thought of anything yet.

It was day three of the week, he rather disliked day three, on day three he inspects the reactor station. Its not so much the inspection he dislikes, though it is annoying, its the path to the reactor station. To get from the main control station to the reactor station he passes through a station that appears to be designed as living quarters for five hundred biological life forms, it has individual sleeping rooms, a food distribution and consumption area, an outer ring with plant life and large windows showing space, and artificial gravity. other than a few inoperable drones the station is empty, and of no use nor does it seem to ever have been used. The whole thing gives him the willies but he still has to check the reactor station every day 3.

This time though he had set a different path through the station, to avoid the food area. Half way through the station one of the doors caught his eye, according to his maps all the rooms in this hall were identical sleeping quarters, this door was different. Quickly his mind ran through all the possibilities, could he have gotten lost? no way, he had a very complex navigation system, maybe it failed, a quick diagnostic checked everything out fine, only possibility left was that his map was wrong. He send a signal to the control station to do a remote scan of the hall, it would take a moment so we went on to inspect the door.

All the other doors in the hall were very plain, matte steel one piece sliding doors, a three inch square frame, just under eight feet tall and a small control panel to open and close it; the odd door had two pieces, and a bar at about breast level, the bar has an assortment of controls and a small video screen near the center but on the right section of the door, the frame was over five inches and seemed to be of a much denser material, as well as being a foot and a half wider and nine inches taller, over all the door was very imposing edging on scary. Iroe was about to touch one of the buttons, cautiously creeping his finger towards it when control replied with a high detail scan of the hall.

His thoughts raced, a dozen or so commands sent out to control, more scans of the room, teams of drones dispatched to his position some technical some armed. The original scan frightened him greatly, it showed a normal hallway with no sign of a door such as the one he was staring at. Something somewhere was very wrong and within seconds the entire sector was on alert trying to figure out what it was.

At times of alert drone speed restraints are loosened so it took only moments for the security team to reach the hall. Upon their arrival Iroe began trying to open the door, it was locked with a pass code and ID card system, isolated from the main network so he couldn't just bypass it, this would take some time to crack and hopefully by then he would have some answers

Time past at a slow pace as Iroe ran countless combinations through the door, After several hours with no luck he was growing very tired of it, out of nowhere he received a communication from control, a scan had detected something abnormal where the door would be, it appears to be a cloak field and a very good one at that but now that it has been detected control should be able to crack it fairly quickly. a few thousand combinations later a new scan arrived, the door appears where it is, beyond it a black cube that sensors were unable to penatrate, there was physical shielding around the room, the only way to find out whats inside would be to open the door.

Fed up with the code cracking Iroe sent for a plasma cutter, this door was opening one way or another. Before it arrived he received another bad messaged from control. after breaking through the cloak field a scan of the sector was done, and three more black rooms were detected on the station, teams had already been sent to check them.

Iroe still had to check the reactor, leaving a sub-commander drone to lead the investigation of the room he raced towards the junction to the next station; A small empty station but this one was small and had a very specific use. it tethered the station to the planet, generating a small amount of power with the cable, used to power emergency systems in case of a reactor failure, and had an elevator that would run up and down it moving cargo. as of yet he had not found a use for it so except for the junction through to the reactor station so it had been all but shut down.

The inspection went as boringly as always and he arrived back at the door some hours later. it must have been a different material than the other doors, the crew was just about to finish cutting.

(back to earth)

As hard as Lily tried eventually the sun won out and she got up and moving. like the ones behind her the passages ahead had no sunlight and were a tad cold. If the pattern kept up her breakfast was about a mile and a quarter down the hall. She had been going straight between the silos for a few days now, today she planned on turning somewhere as the straight path was pretty dull. But for now she went about packing up her things from last nights meal.
