The Empty series is based on a something silly but could grow to be a serious survival drama, and maybe you are part of it but even if you dont care to be I'd love to hear from you. Maybe tell me why you're not interested, especially if its something I can fix.
Other than that this is just a normal OOC thread, you're welcome to join in the chat even if you're not gonna join the RP.

---

The world of Empty is a world that recently died, by some vast amount of bad luck a number of people managed to survive the main event only to find themselves in a city void of its populous and maintenance teams. Eventually the city will become unlivable but for the moment it's all they have, well, not exactly.

On the outskirts of the city there is a military base, and it wouldn't be a lie to say this whole situation was its fault, but then again it is just a structure, so we could blame the people in side, but they had no idea what they were doing, some didn't even know who they were, so then who do we blame? This is as of yet unknown.

In Empty 3 things have changed a little, a new world has been found, one that isn't falling apart, but it has just as much unexplained weirdness as everywhere else.

So I'm a bit stumped about whats in the room exactly, my best idea is there a 'thing' of some sort that will make Iroe take the elevator down, finding somebody (probably Lily as there aren't any others) and thus the space network is discovered.

there could be somebody in the room so theres a join moment, theres probably other people wandering the base so we might meet up before the elevator, then theres still the whole city which supposedly has a gang of survivors in it doing who-knows-what, and the other three rooms, though Iroe will want to be at each personally when their opened so that might take some time to occur.

Quick, perfect spot for somebody to jump in, a spoiler to help anybody who wants to jump in, other than you the room has a set of little three wheel truck like things, for getting around the apparently massive base at a reasonable speed, beyond that feel free to design the room.

So I'm thinking of starting another RP but I cant decide between 'At War With Gods" an RP based off the world of 'Blame!" by Tsutomu Nihei, I'm a bit worried that nobody would know about the series and it wouldn't turn out well

or another FFMB RP, "FFMB4: Upon Wings of Stone" which is based fourteen years after FFMB3, the people have moved yet again, but this time in full, leaving behind the city the base and the space network for a fully colonized, but still eerily vacant asteroid that orbits the sun irregularly, at its closest being just within earth's orbit but rarely coming close to earth, then going out as far as neptune. in the fourteen years the people have settled down, paired off (mostly) and begun raising a new generation. but things are far from perfect, the original survivors are still plagued by periodic, and increasingly regular bouts of amnesia. None of the children are affected by the amnesia but they have oddities of their own. Obviously the asteroid is fully self sufficient, maybe with some labor put in from its inhabitants, but a much less governing computer system. The asteroid is a massive place and the small population quickly found all they needed leaving much of the colony unexplored. over the years a good bit more got explored but still the majority of the station hasn't been seen by the eyes of mortals in many years, if at all...

so, anybody care to offer an opinion on this matter?

I'm leaning more and more to FFMB4, I've got a much better idea of what it would be than with at war with gods, but I'd really like to have someone lined up to play before I start it.

I just revised the first post and topic, changing this from OOC for FFMB3 to OOC for the whole FFMB series, I'm fairly certain now that I dont have a leg to stand on for at war with gods so I'm gonna work towards upon wings of stone, I'd still like to grab somebodies attention before I start the RP, not counting planning and wordage.

alright... Now I'm considering changing the name of the whole series (except ffmb1) to something less comedic sounding, since its more of a serious drama now, but to what to change?

how bout "Uncomfortable Silences"... no, that doesn't quite work ether..

well anyways, if anybody wants to join in via the sealed room on the station I'll be opening it in the next post there.

edit : Ooo, how bout "Empty"

Empty seems close but still not quite right, I get the feeling that last night just before bed I thought of the perfect name, but then I fell asleep, this feeling annoys me greatly...

I'll probably be putting the door post up tonight but no guarantees

Alright, heres what I got so far for Upon Wings of Stone

Quote:

It had been fourteen years since the survivors had seen the earth, and it wasn't a nice memory; They had barely made it onto the Hermes asteroid colony before the three hundred twenty seven reactors orbiting the earth detonated, blowing away any trace of atmosphere and the top layers of the it's crust. The dense rock of the large asteroid protected them from the radiation and shock wave but the explosion changed it's orbit just enough that it would be over a thousand years before they would next approach the earth.

Life on Hermes was simple, they farmed for food, raised a few animals for meat, got married and had children. But even with it's new members the small group only made up a tiny fraction of what the colony was designed for, leaving the vast majority empty and a good deal of that unexplored. The colony provides everything they need to survive and not much more, and lacks a complex computer control interface like the space network had.

Although everything seems nice there are some problems. Other than some people just not being suited for a simple life the survivors have never been able to explain or treat the periodic sudden amnesia that many of them found themselves with in the beginning and are still afflicted by on a more and more regular basis, some almost seasonal though a few haven't relapsed and none of the children have ever been effected. The children have their own oddities, some having unexplainable knowledge and skill, strong talents for unnatural things. The amnesia and children's talents are subjects that most people tend to avoid if they can as most of them hope to leave the action of the past in the past and live out the rest of their lives as normally as one can on a space colony built into an asteroid.

I'm not totally content with it, and its not done, but for the moment its what I got

well, three votes other than mine... and its a draw... So, I'm gonna assume ether two people (far more than expected) have read Blame! or the wiki portrayed it well, so I may as well elaborate on my idea for at war with gods.

the RP would take place a long time before the age of Killy and Cibo, like hundreds of years, but I dont remember what the time index for NOiSE is so we're gonna stick with a long time. the mega structure is already massive and the safeguard are already crazy and far more active, but humanity still has some semblance of a society but is highly divided into sects. One of the sects that is as of yet unnamed lives... somewhere... and they really like being there, safeguard, not so much.

Also this is at a time that safeguard is just starting to experiment with a new unit, the SED-J, or Special Extinction Drone type J, this is previous to the awesome power and pinpoint precision of the GBE so the SED-Js are armed with a less powerful but more destructive Null Particle Field Cannon which shoots a bullet of something very similar to antimatter encased with a temporary plasma shell that dissipates on impact or after about thirty seconds, though it can be set to less, once it does the Null Particles disperse at 99.99% the speed of light to an average radius of thirty feet, the ensuing reaction between the Null Particles and normal matter causes almost everything to cease existing (usually leaving only dust). Plasma shielding provides only minimal protection at extremely high thickness and power, anything less than the full output of a nuclear reactor on the verge of meltdown would be like paper to a grenade at point blank. Unfortunately the Null Particles are unable to be dematerialized therefore once a SED-J is deployed it can not be recalled; if they tried the containment holding them in would fail and all the shots would be released at once, the Null zone created would be roughly the size of the moon and not even the safeguard is willing to cause that kind of collateral damage... for the moment

The problem with the SED-Js is that they run a new experimental AI designed with certain aspects of humanity, such as imagination, useful in strategical planning and field repair; being that there is this massive area, bigger than the orbit of the moon, full of people it doesn't want there the safeguard is very busy, self sufficiency was one of the main points of design in the SED-J model, supposedly they can just get materialized somewhere, take care of the local human population, probably look around for more, if none found they go into hibernation and wait for some to come by.

The SED-J is totally untested and possibly extremely dangerous to everything involved so at first only a single team of five is made, the unnamed sect just happens to be roughly one moon away from anything important to the safeguard, except an energy source, its not of high importance to the safeguard, but they really don't want it in human hands, so this is the perfect place to test out the new drones.

But, there was something unexpected, (again I haven't read NOiSE so I'm assuming this hadn't happened yet then) the first of the Silicon Creatures have appeared, and everybody hates them, the RP would start in the middle of a battle between the humans and the SED-J team, its not quite a raging battle but there is definitely fighting, then the silicon creatures appear and attack, killing many on both sides, including one of the SED-J and one of the Human's best soldiers; Nether side is prepared to fight two fronts and this new enemy seems like the biggest threat to both sides, especially after somehow severing the SED-J from the main safeguard collective.

Isolated and outnumbered with multiple enemy forces the lead SED-J goes to the humans and calls a truce. eventually through this truce their humanity gets the best of the SED-J... and ... um, yea, the idea isn't totally done... or rather I just pulled all that out of nowhere.

It needs a lot of work, and I think that whole thing needs to be rewritten, but thats a glimpse of the basic idea, people still interested?
