Well I wanted to make a thread for anyone who plays (an) instrument(s) to discuss them and the style of music they play. I wasn't sure if it should go in the music discussion thread so I just made a new one. So if you play an instrument, here's the place to talk about it! biggrin I played piano for 5 years, I'm Grade 4 standard but I've stopped playing and so I'm not as good anymore. I've a Yamaha EZ-30 keyboard in my room although it spends most of the time under my bed. I've also started playing the bodhrán, which is an Irish drum. I've been playing it for a month and here's a link to a video of me playing it to a collection of 3 Irish traditional tunes called "Cooley's Set". My keyboard My bodhrán http://bebo.com/watch/4570194364The video of me playing Discuss: -the instrument(s) you play -the style of music you play -if you play for any groups or bands GO! =D

(Kiwi, btw ;]) I'd like to learn acoustic guitar someday. My grandfather said he'd teach me. He plays a few different instruments. One of which is the bass. He plays in a band and does a dozen or so gigs a month.
I think the piano would be neat. My aunt plays the piano at Christmas, and we sing carols. That's always fun ^_^

That's always fun ^_^ I haven't the co-ordination for acoustic guitar, I can't shift between chords fast and sometime my fingers just don't bend that way. I tried acoustic guitar for about a month but no luck. Piano's different, it's easy enough-the only hard part is forcing your left hand to move differently from your right. I might actually start practicing the piano again, I'm not going to do anymore Grade exams but I suppose I could still play stuff on it. I got a new bodhrán! My friends and I were down in Dublin for a day-trip yesterday and two of them bought me a new bodhrán for my birthday which isn't for another month, not that I'm complaining wink Anyway, here it is, I need a new tipper to play it with though:

@Saxy: Thanks for posting! Those all look really cool. Unfortunatley, I'm not cool or eccentric enough to name my instruments although if I had to give the better of my 2 bodhráns a name, it'd probably be Stanley xp

Well kids, I did 2 new bodhrán videos! =D http://youtube.com/watch?v=ltVAzqIxTMc This is called Garrett Barry's Jig and it's very short but it's a really nice tune. http://youtube.com/watch?v=g6eG0NtPRII This is just another attempt at Old Hag where I try and improve my left hand technique (you can't see it, but my left hand is constantly moving up and down on the back of the bodhrán skin to produce different noises 3nodding )

This being our musician's thread, I though it necessary we pay our respects to Luciano Pavarotti by least having him mentioned if nothing else. RIP sir.
