Is anyone else able to fly in their dreams regularly? I am, but it's usually to run away from something. Flying isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Nope no flying--but I've had some pretty bad nightmares. This is the most recent.

Had a dream that I standing in the valley of a tall red canyon. Sky was dark, nothing in it save the grey smoke that was coming from a decrepit, semi-fenced and barb wired, factory. I watched multitudes of undead people marching into this factory, all of them suffering from some mortal or fatal injury. Missing limbs, glass shoved in bodies, burnt skin. Oh yeah, it was creepy.

Ugh--But during this whole dream, there was some kind of evil menacing overseer who was watching me. I couldn't see him, but I could feel him. It creeped me the ******** out--so I tried to escape.

Only problem is, that canyon's only exit was to climb the walls--and the walls had huge eyes on them. Ew. I'm glad the dream ended there.

I've only ever had one lucid dream. I forget the circumstances that made me realize I was asleep, but as soon as I did realize it, I woke up.

A recurring theme in my dreams, a rather strange one, is that I have the ability to hover about three inches off the ground by tensing muscles in the small of my back. I can then glide along by leaning forward to go forward, twisting left to rotate left, leaning left to strafe left, and so on. The more I tense my muscles, the higher I hover. In one dream, it was different, though. It was available to everyone, first of all, and second, the only difference in the ability was that we could, in addition, leap off walls effortlessly like ninjas, but as long as those muscles remained tense.

The worst nightmare I ever had was one in which I had spent the entirety of the night before going to bed playing F.E.A.R. and Doom 3 in the dark. The result was a version of my high school, with fires raging outside the windows, the flourescent lights shining crimson, and blood everywhere. Aside from that, it was actually business as usual...people were saying "hi" as they passed in the hallways, classes were in session...and it was only me and a friend who knew something was wrong. A couple of the rooms were empty save for blood smearing the walls and chunks of meat ("gibs" as they're called) dotting the floor. But nobody was dead, dying, injured, or missing. But when me and this friend got to the nurse's office trying to find someone else who knew something was up, we got cornered by a guy in a trench coat with a knife, and that's when I woke up.

DUDE!!!! When I was little I lucid dreamed a LOT and the exact way you describe hovering is how it worked for me, too! Except that I had to get a coasting start, like stepping off a higher surface. Crazy.

I have wack-a** dreams all the time, but as for flight I used to get that ability a lot and I LOVED it. But if I flew outside of the reality already established for my dream (my back yard, a park) to where I could see other places I would wake up. Basically, I couldn't go too high or too far but I could circle. It was a blast.

I can always go to wherever I want. A lot of my dreams take place in my backyard, and I often fly through neighbors' yards (which in my dream are nothing like they are in real life heart )

One recurring dream was that I could hover a few mm off the ground, and simply stand still while moving forward. No one else ever noticed, and apart from that it was life as usual. I just... stood still, hands in pockets, and just coasted along the footpaths and roads I usually walk along. It was set in real life, my normal everyday real life.

The weird thing, I never knew anything was up, I knew no one else could do it, and that it was weird, but it seemed perfectly ok for me to do that. And I never really thought about it much, but it seemed real.

And one day, I suddenly realised I was dreaming while doing this, which came as a bit of a shock. And I've never dreamed that since.

I miss it sad
