- Noel and crew wandered there way along the route path on the way to Striaton. While he didn’t intend to head into the city just yet, it was worthwhile to be on the path in that direction. They eventually rendezvoused off though towards the grassy areas once they’d gone a good distance and Noel took the opportunity to unleash all of his pokemon.
Wilbur’s nose twitched at the sight of the Lilipup once more; the puppy was in a far better health than he’d been in earlier, ears wiggling in lively observance. There was however another pokemon that the Tepig didn’t recognized; a flower looking pokemon that, upon release, danced and twirled about in glee. Clearly, it was happy to be out.
Noel knelt down, grinning at his team as he addressed them. "Alright guys, it’s training time! Go out there and find some stuff to fight okay?" His expression turned serious though for a moment, eyeing each of them carefully. "But be careful okay? If you get hurt come back to me and I’ll use some potions to heal you up." He crew each gave their own sort of expectant looks before chirps of approval erupted, returning the grin to his face once more. Good! They’d be strong in no time! And while his team was fighting, he’d take a moment to learn a thing or two for their upcoming battle. -

While Noel focused on his learning, his team wandered just a bit into the grass with Algernon leading the way. He made sure to keep everyone together to the best of his abilities, though he himself seemed rather nervous about the distance being placed between him and his trainer. Wilbur noticed how oddly the Espurr was acting, turning to give him an odd look as they continued to search for opponents to battle.
"What’s wrong with you?" The Tepig asked rather bluntly, earning himself a yip of surprise from the Espurr. Immediately the pokemon’s paws flew up to grasp the headphones covering his ears before giving Wilbur a bit of a look.
"O-oh…. Sorry. Uhm… nothing. We just… shouldn’t go too far or anything." Algernon sheepishly responded, coming to a stop right as he made that claim. Wilbur looked confused as he stopped as well, giving his team mate a c look over. He seemed ofly nervous for no real reason; he was clinging to those headphones like his life depended on it. In fact, a moment of observation reminded Wilbur that Noel had similar sort of headphones as well. Maybe there was a connection?

- "Why do you both wear those weird things?" Wilbur inquired again, earning a sort of exasperated look from the Espurr whose focus had shifted to their surroundings.
"Because we need to," was the curt response he gave. Algernon’s focus shifted as something shuffled in the grass nearby. The conversation was cut short as a Patrat appeared, eyeing the team a moment before stepping forward to challenge. Wilbur was ready to take the bait but was stopped by Algernon, who opted instead to handle the battle himself. Wilbur huffed; he could take this thing! Weaving his way around the Espurr’s failed blockade he jumped forward to challenge the wild pokemon of his own accord.

- "Oh!" Noel pipped up as he came upon the scene, having heard the sounds of commotion starting up and wanting to check that everything okay. Instead he was greeted by two injured looking pokemon just as the Patrat came about and ran off.
"Ouch… hm…," Noel murmured, quickly digging out some potions and applying them to an unenthused Wilbur and a nervous looking Algernon. Once the pair were healed up to full he smiled and gently patted each on the head. "Maybe the pokemon around here are a little too tough…," Noel frowned. He certainly didn’t want to backtrack on the assumption that they’d find more even level challenges because he was fairly certain that they wouldn’t. So maybe the next best option was to find a way to strengthen his team? There were probably all kinds of helpful things out there he could use.
Right! That was what he was going to do! Slamming a fist into the open palm of his other hand he quickly got back up to his feet, ushering his team along to follow. "C’mon guys! We’re gonna go shopping! I bet I can find some nice stuff to make it easier for you to battle!" Only Hyde seemed to show any level of enthusiasm at this announcement, Wilbur and Algernon still grumbling from the battle and Lilipup well… Lilipup wasn’t entirely sure about this situation to begin with.

- Noel found his way to Striaton City’s Pokemart, a difficult task given the vastness of the city. He really hadn’t expected the place to be so big. Then again his home city was pretty big too so… maybe he shouldn’t have really been all that surprised. Shaking his head, he and his pokemon headed inside to take a look around. -

- Taking a glance around, Noel started to peruse his options. There were numerous options from TM discs to help items that he wasn’t entirely sure about. He was so excited about all the options but it didn’t take long for him to discover that a lot of the items were out of his price range. Well now… that was a bit of a bummer. With a huff, he kept looking, trying to find something he could make use of. He just wanted to make his team a little bit stronger, just to handle the pokemon around this area. - Eventually a shop attendant, having noticed the struggle the man happened to be going through, came over and inquired what exactly it was he was looking for. Noel was caught off guard a moment, jumping up in surprise as the man addressed him. It took him a bit of explaining to give the man an actual idea of what he was looking for but eventually the gentleman was able to offer a solution. Digging around in a specific bin, he produced a couple of heartscales and explained their purpose to Noel. He listened carefully as the attendant explained how they worked and how to use them. They sounded just like what he needed! -

- It was still pricey though. From the spare change he actually had on him, Noel could only afford two of the scales, though it would still help in the long run. Shipping his way over to the counter he set the items down on the counter and fished out the few funds he actually had on his person to pay. The attendant was still equally friendly in helping him out and Noel wished him well as he waved goodbye. He took a moment to find his pokemon, who were roving and sniffing about in the treats department and ushered them out the building and onto the sidewalks of the bustling streets once more. -

With the two heart scales he’d purchased in hand, Noel paused on the sidewalk and turned to his team. He could’ve probably found himself a bench to sit down on as he did this, but he was rather excited about the prospect of making his team stronger. Kneeling down once more with a huge grin on his face, he offered his hands out, a scale in each.
"Alright guys! I’m letting you decide who gets to use these!" He remarked, earning a quizzical look from all pokemon involved. "It’ll teach you a new move, hopefully a powerful one! That should make it easier to do battles and such!" Hopefully. The Lilpup didn’t look all that excited about learning anything, shuffling about in the back of the group as the other pokemon approached. Hyde was dancing about in excitement, spinning and twirling and not exactly paying attention to the situation at hand. Only Wilbur and Algernon (surprisingly) seemed interested in the scales.
"I’m sure it’ll be fine you two. I want you to be extra strong!" He clasped his hands around the scales, holding them just above the pair’s heads. "Ready?" Wilbur’s nose wiggled as he gave a snort of approval. Algernon waivered a moment, paws pressed over his mouth as he seemed to honestly consider a moment before giving his own soft ‘Esp’ of approval.
"Great! Here you go then!" Noel chimed as he crushed the scales in hand, the sparkling essence encompassing his pokemons heads. The pair shook away at the dust, Wilbur even sneezing in response. Once it cleared, he eyed the pair curiously. Wilbur immediately squealed in delight apparently pumped at his new knowledge. Algernon just sneezed in response, earning a sympathetic look from his trainer who reached a hand out and helped swat the dust away.
"You okay Algy?" Noel inquired, earning a little nod from his companion. "Good, good." Noel smiled, gently patting the Espurr on the head. It was definitely important that Algernon was okay; he was his best buddy after all.

Satisfied with this small feat of improving his pokemons skills by a fraction, Noel rose back to his feet and placed his hands on his hips as he tried to plan his next course of action. Hopefully, training would be a bit easier now that Wilbur and Algernon had tougher moves. Hopefully. Actually it would be in his best interest to check and see what they’d learned to make sure the scales had worked as intended. He’d have hated to be swindled by the store clerk. The person seemed awfully nice to go and undermine him for what little cash he actually had on his person. Actually… maybe he’d contact his parents for a bit of money too. It was better that he had some on him in case of emergencies.
Pulling out his pokedex to do the first task he’d thought of, he turned to locate his pokemon and immediately jumped as he noticed the massive black mass hovering in the air right behind. "AGH!" He cried, stumbling back and falling on his rear, staring at the black Spinarak dangling by a single thread from the nearby lamppost. He’d seen Spinarak before, but never in this color variation. And that red hourglass marking on its back just set a shiver down a spine.
He couldn’t really tell if it was dangerous or not, but his yell had caught his team’s attention. Wilbur immediately jumped into action. The Spinarak was startled as it was knocked off its thread, landing roughly to the ground. In a haste is spewed forth a crazy amount of spikey balls that didn’t look safe to touch. Wilbur noted this too, nose wiggling as he did his best not to step on any of the spikey bits before launching into a solid attack of his own, slamming an iron hard tail into the spiders face.

A shiver ran down Noel’s spine as the Spinarak recovered and quickly skittered away after being smashed by Wilbur. The Tepig just flared his nostrils in response to the fleeing black spider. He seemed ready to give chase but Noel made a noise that seemed to indicate that he not do that.
"Eesh… what was that?" Noel mumbled, hand to his chest as he tried to regain his composure. He certainly hadn’t expected to have a pokemon like that hovering right next to him like that. It was kind of creepy to be honest. He didn’t have much time though to consider as Algernon have a chirp of surprise. Noel spun around just in time to catch sight of a Cubone facing off Algernon.
A Cubone in a city like this was already weird to witness, though Noel found himself more alarmed by the creature’s appearance. It was black as opposed to the brown he was aware of, with frightening red cracks running along the skull mask it wore. Noel honestly winced at the sight, uncertain of how to take it. Was it… hurt? Injured? It seemed angry for some reason. Either way, he didn’t have much time to decide before it lunged to attack Algernon.

Algernon was able to hold his own against the devious looking Cubone, though not without repercussions. Noel gasped and was immediately setting upon the flinching Espurr to scoop him up into his arms in worry. "Algernon! Are you okay?!" Noel’s tone was laced with worry as he immediately plopped down onto his bottom, beginning to dig potions out of the bag at his side. Without hesitation he started to administer them to his injured pokemon, not even aware that once more, one of those black widow Spinarak descended on him in his distracted state. Luckily, Wilbur was on guard and immediately spotted the spider as it seemed to try and take advantage of the situation, springing into battle before Noel could so much as yell at him not to.

Noel’s head immediately snapped around as Wilbur finished destroying the second Spinarak that had appeared while his attention was on taking care of Algernon. He gasped and gave the Tepig a concerned look, ready to fish out another potion in the event the pokemon had been injured. Luckily enough, the pig seemed just fine, holding his head high in pride of his quick work. Noel relaxed just a bit, still holding Algernon tight in his arms as the Espurr recovered from his own ordeal. Oi, where were all these strange pokemon coming from? It was pretty outrageous to begin with, but their off-putting looks unsettled him even more.
Hyde in the meantime, was spinning and dancing about, having watched the curious scene of Wilbur taking on these strange looking spiders. He thought they were just trying to be friendly, especially when that last Spinarak dropped a little gauzed bundle as it fled. Curious, the Cherrim picked it up and looked it over, slowly shredding the webbing the way to reveal candies on the inside. Oh boy! What a treat! He could share… but he instead he shoveled the candies into his own mouth, munching gleefully.

He didn’t have long to wonder exactly here all these strange creatures were coming from though as from the shadows yet another of those dastardly Cubone’s appeared. Noel wasn’t sure if it was the same one or not, but on instinct he held Algernon tightly to him. He didn’t need nor want the creature hurting the poor Espurr again. Preparing to send Wilbur forth to battle, he was interrupted by a little chirp as Hyde himself skipped into play, twirling and spinning in a little dance before stopping in front of the strange pokemon. Apparently, he was handling this battle…

Noel was starting to panic at this point. These strange pokemon continued to appear from nowhere and assault his team well before he could get them back to full health. Already he was digging out even more potions and applying them to Hyde. While the Cherrim’s attitude didn’t seem at all dampened by the slight assault to his being, there was hints of evidence on his face that he didn’t enjoy the slight pain he was feeling.
And of course as Noel healed up the flower, another strange creature appeared. The black colored Meowth all but slink from the shadows, a wide toothy grin with a sinister cat-like gaze shadowed by the hat it wore. Wilbur huffed and stared the cat down, immediately launching into battle to fend the thing off. He could sense that Noel was getting frantic and thought it best to help!
