Let's see...
(UPDATED: Oct 1st, 2010)
I'm 31 yrs old, I moved from America to Germany in January to be with my, well, soon-to-be-ex-husband. I have two little children (daughter: 1st March, 2006 / son: 20th June, 2007) and am living as a single mother here in Germany. (Yeah... well... sometimes things just don't work out as planned/hoped.)
The children are learning both languages, understand both without difficulty, but prefere to speak German 'cause, you know, 'children speak German' (here in Germany) - it's going to be very interesting when we visit my non-German-speaking family in America! Right now, it's so that when I talk to them I mostly use English, but they will nearly always answer in German (which means, we have lots of odd 'bilingual conversations'.. I'm surprised we don't get more weird looks than we do, but I guess people here are somewhat used to that sort of thing, as there are a lot of foregners here).
My daughter knows the difference between the two languages and, when watching a movie, will ask to see it in a particular language and knows if you've put on the 'wrong' one. (She calls them "Papa's Language" and "Mama's Language", though, rather than "English" or "German/Deutsch".)
My hobbies include: drawing, reading, computers, surfing the web, coding web pages, making graphics, and I like to collect coins (I don't care if they're of high value or not, I just like collecting ones that are interesting to me), etc.. I also love languages and culture!
I've learned German, though am not totally fluent (I can hold a conversation, generally make myself understood and understand most of what is said to me - I get practice every day, to the point where the novelty has worn off and I miss speaking English)..
I've also begun learning Dutch (teaching myself), but I'm still only at a beginner level. (However, with my English and German knowledge, I can read Dutch with an almost fluent understanding.)
And lastly, Jenannen rocks. ^.^ She and I have been talking and she has helped me, giving me advice in regards to my pregnancy, and sharing her experiences with me. I've really cherished it.. as I've not really had a female around here to look up to and talk to about (there IS a woman, a friend of ours, who's had a baby, but she doesn't speak English so I can't really TALK to her). So, just wanted to say thank you to Jenannen for her advice, support and patience (I don't have much time to be online with all the running around we've been having to do, and she's been nothing but patient and understanding the whole time).

Hi everyone, I'm Dwyvannion, a 26-year-old mother of one. I've been happily married to DaoDrizzt for almost four years, and we have a fascinating 2-year-old son who wows us everyday with his amazing discoveries about his world and hilarious things he says. Our current hobbies as a family are: POTTY TRAINING. It's just about all-consuming for all three of us. But after the little guy goes to sleep, my hobbies are blogging, gaia, reading books, and computer gaming. Hubby and I both work outside the home 40 hours a week (or sometimes more) and we are extremely grateful for the wonderful daycare provider we found to make that possible. She's been a teacher, role model, and psuedo-grandma for our son as well as easing us through our first few months as new parents with her gentle advice and reassurances that we were doing a good job. Anyhow, I look forward to participating in parenting discussions and getting to know all of you better. Thank you for the invitation!

Hi! Thanks to LadyElara for the invite, although I can't quite figure out how you know me. I've been off Gaia for about a year, though, and it's been a year full of me having a lousy memory, so please forgive me!
Anyway, my name is Yvaine, or Emily IRL. I am (omg) 28 years old, and having trouble feeling (or acting) my age. I'm mother to a wonderful little 2-year-old boy named Lucien. He is a quiet, thoughtful, and considerate child, which I'm pretty sure he does not get from me. He's also smart as a whip, and I'll brag enough to say I can at least *share* the credit for that. John (Daddy) and I have been married for almost four years (March 16th), and we've been trying for a second child for over a year now. Very frustrating, considering Lucien was more or less a pleasant surprise.
As with the parents of any 2-year-old, our family hobby is potty training. Daddy is also teaching Lucien the basics of swordplay and martial arts, which I sometimes regret when Lulubear doesn't want his coat on. Oh, the strange looks we get when yelling at the little guy for striking "unarmed non-combatants"! I mean, how else to differentiate between fun sparring versus sneaking up on someone and whacking them on the head? whee I am slowly getting back into martial arts myself after a three-year hiatus (couldn't stay awake for classes while I was pregnant), although that's mostly me sneaking in punching drills and kicks in the shower - I'm less likely to be interrupted because I "don't look busy" in there... sweatdrop I work *very* part-time as an acupuncturist and also teach Qi Gong twice a week. I am lucky to be working with my mother, who is happy to babysit whenever I have a patient. I'm also discovering an interesting knack for sewing and baked goods. The baked goods because we've got a nifty tradition of food sensitivities in my side of the family, so if I'm not baking, we're usually not having dessert. Me: Dairy. Lucien: Soy. Also amoxacillin, but that's not food. Daddy: now lactose intolerant. I told him that'd happen if he insisted on eating only what I could, but he's more interested in being a gentleman to me than in eating cheesecake. heart heart heart ...Yeah, we're one of those abominably happy couples. Sorry. I promise I'll kvetch about him sometimes too.
So yeah. I can talk about food sensitivities and share recipes if you'd like. I know that's a real challenge when it's new to the family, and I know babies tend to have a whole raft of food sensitivities that they eventually outgrow. I can talk about some of the more subtle symptoms to watch for as well if you suspect a preverbal child is having food problems. No need to wait for hives, really.
Yeah, I think that's it. Oh yeah. We all love paper-and-dice role playing, and Lucien loves to watch Daddy play Tekken and SC3, and there is a great love of pirates and ninja in our family. Also sushi. Okay, I'm done.

My hobbies: Looking at baby stuff (i have the baby fever BAD!), Gaia, Scrapbooking, Playing the Sims2, Working on my web page ( www.thepaces.cjb.net ) Working towards my new year's resolution so I'll be in primo baby-making condition come this summer!
Anything eles you wanna know is probably on my Gaia profile, and if not there, then check out my web page (lots of pics and all my scrapbooks!)
