Cymbre the Black

Cymbre would get up from the wagon and stretch her arms and wings. "Meh, I'll pass for now. That fun can wait for a later point. Though, I'm a little curious to see what wold happen if we threw a chicken or squirrel at it "


Cymbre would turn her attention to the scrawny newcomer. "Hey, Henderson guy. How did you know not to touch the chest? At least not with yourself anyways."

Mr. Henderson

Henderson would look up at Cymbre, then glance away from her reptilian gaze nervously. "The girl told me you were attacked when the chest was picked up. I don't really know how it works, so I'm not taking any chances."

He would continue working, occasionally giving an order to Rustbeard. Eventually the two of them would have it totally wrapped up in the tarp. Henderson and Rustbeard would lift it between them, then load it into the handcart.

He would bow to the assembled group, not really looking at any of them. "Thank you for finding this. I'll see that it makes its way to Archwizard Shore in Dryden." And he would take the cart in his hands and begin to wheel it back to the town.

Rustbeard would dust his hands off, turn to Maya, and say, "Okay, who's ready to catch a pig?"

This group was hard to read. Even the greed of a dragon, and Maya, who was the most vocal about the possible treasure. Just let the chest walk away with some unknown person...

"That would be Maya, Sir" Ron spoke satire after Rustbeard asked about the pig. "Before the incident, you should have heard her go on about finding the pig. But, she was honor bound to first see to the chest."(Bluff=17 not certain if jokes count as Bluffs)

Before anyone could respond, the warlord started back towards Rustbeard's office for his armor. He wasn't going to make the same mistake twice in one day...

Justiciar Rustbeard

"Perfect!" Rustbeard says, either not getting the sarcasm or choosing to ignore it. "With that thing out of the way, it's pig catching time. Now Farmer Darrow tells me it's a smallish sow with black spots on its back, are you following me?"

Maya would sigh, but say, "Yes, sir."

Mr. Henderson

As Rhaun starts to head back to town, all seems tranquil again. The day is bright, the spring air warm, and the village below is quiet.

Ahead of him, he sees Mr. Henderson, who is slowly plodding along with the wrapped chest in his handcart.

And Mr. Henderson sees him.

It's just a quick glance, but Rhaun can tell in the sudden darting gaze the man casts over his shoulder that Henderson is under the impression that Rhaun is following him. And Henderson clearly does not want to be followed.

Henderson starts to put on a bit more speed as he comes closer to the town, and takes a sudden swift turn behind a farmhouse to cut Rhaun's line of sight to him. It seems as though he's trying to shake Rhaun off his trail.

Cymbre the Black

Cymbre looked on with a face of disappointment as the chest was stashed away. Obviously she wanted to open the chest right here and now, but Cymbre would reflect what her mentor Lilith would do in this situation and with a sigh she would respond. "Yes... I guess it would be best to send it somewhere where it can be opened safely without putting others at risk." The most Cymbre understood about magic items is that they tended to be valuable and that they had been used to hurt her in the past. It was best to let those who new what they were doing handle the chest.

With Rhaun's departure Cymbre would grab Rustbeards attention before he could leave as well. "Alright Mr. Rustbeard, now that the stump and chest thing is taken care of, what do you want us to do next?"

"What are you up to," Rhaun muttered to himself as he watched Mr. Henderson's attempt at the evasion. Stopping before the farmhouse, the human would take off his shirt and wrap it around his head. And turn his ring around, so the insignia was on the inside of his hand. (Bluff 22, I am not Rhaun Skalyn. I am Mr. Noname a farmhand by trade) As he went around the other side of the home.

If anyone, tries to stop him. He would talk about a gopher problem Rustbeard asked him to look into.

Justiciar Rustbeard

"Well, Miss... uh... Miss Black, I'm glad you asked! Pretty much right as your group left my office, we had a lady come in--she was pretty upset." Rustbeard would smooth his beard with his hands as he talked, clearly not upset himself. "Yes, seems her shed door is stuck tight and she can't get in to get the chicken feed out. Maybe it's all this rain we've been getting. So I was thinking you could head over there and, uh... well, I don't know, jimmy the lock or something. I heard you Sapphire types are pretty capable; you can figure something out."

He would point at Olin and say, "He can lead you over. It's at Farmer Hitchens' place; they grow snowwheat like most of the farmers here do."

Mr. Henderson

Rhaun doesn't get a chance to see if his disguise works on Henderson or not, as when he peeks around the farmhouse, he sees Henderson moving quickly away in the direction of Rustbeard's office, not looking back. Henderson cuts through another house's backyard and slips out of sight again, this time behind a fence.

If Rhaun is to catch him, he'll have to act fast.

"Damn-it!" Ron spat as he chased after. "Sapphire coming through, Make way!"

Faces appear in the windows of nearby houses as a yelling Rhaun charges between them in pursuit of Henderson. Henderson is hindered by having to push the handcart, but Rhaun isn't--and he easily scales the fence in front of him to avoid having to go around it.

Despite Henderson's greater knowledge of the area, Rhaun's starting to close the distance between them.

By this point Cymbre was no longer surprised by the tasks being giving to her by Rustbeard. In the end, she was still being paid just the same, and she guessed she was still helping the people here, even if it was just in small ways. "Indeed, a task that requires subtly and finesse. That sound like the perfect task for me."

Cymbre would turn to Olin. "Alright, lead the way. I cant wait to bre-jimmy this door."

Guard Olin Emsworth

Olin would beckon Cymbre and Guards the Door to follow him, then start off towards the village.

"It's on the opposite side," he would say, "so we'll have to cut through town."

Mr. Henderson

Henderson is beginning to slow down, breathing heavily, but Rhaun remains unweary and focused. ((Endurance success))

However, Henderson knows the streets and buildings so much better that he's able to use shortcuts and put obstacles in between he and Rhaun to keep the warlord off his trail. ((Streetwise failure.))

Rhaun has to think fast if he's to catch him.

Guards lumbers along behind only mentioning once that she could have just removed the hinges or break the lock. He lumbers behind, thankful for the rest that he got, but his wearyness shows in his walk.
