Someone save me from the H A T E

Battle. That's right, they were in a war. Everyone saw Realist's as the bad guys. Couldn't they understand what was going on? The loss! Everything they were sacrificing!? Why couldn't they all just understand?

The battle seemed to be going alright. It was leaning in Azar's favor. Tya watched carefully the large monstrous creature shifting silently occasionally to get a better view. She then saw something. A flicker of power. A shimmer of a figure. That was she needed to realize that Nanzu had just been fed power. Tya knew that Azar was weaker then Nanzu, and with the way their machines had been lately...it was worse. So she knew that this was going to go suddenly very bad.

Four legs scuttled swifter then any spider or creature could move. She wasn't fast enough to protect Azar from the first attack, but when he stood up she was behind him. Her long four arms wrapping around him as Nanzu's weapon came down. It hit a shield and Tya projected outwards. The shield was her dreams. Her happy memories as well as her nightmares. She shaped it around her and Azar like a bubble and pressed it against Nanzu. "Papa...are you okay?" The hissing voice asked in shear concern.

You Lie

Your Tears
They mean nothing to me
The Wind

But Now
There's nothing you can do
So Sleep
In Your only memory
Of Me
My dearest mother.

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes. Goodbye. It was always you that I despised.

Nanzu was falling behind. Azar was on almost an equal level with how much energy he'd already extended. Nanzu hissed and kept attacking though. He wouldn't let him get away this time. Today was the day that the traitor died. Today was the day that HE would feel Nanzu's pain!

Years ago when the project was just getting started Nanzu had been the first successful Reaper. Azar was the next. For a while they worked together and trained together. Azar had become almost a friend to Nanzu, then he was betrayed. Azar broke the rules and then ran away. Even after...even after he knew about Nanzu's painful secret. He would never forgive The Grim!

Suddenly he felt a pulse of energy and his vitals synched with another person. He didn't have to ponder over who it was. There was only one person brave enough (and possibly stupid enough) to synch with him. Jia. She evened him out and gave him a boost of energy. Now he was back to normal, which meant The Grim was lower powered then him. It made him grin widely and begin laughing as he was now faster and got a hit in.

In the real world Nanzu pet his sisters hair and continued humming the soothing sound. He had to focus on the dream world mostly. He could have been walking around and talking to others, but for now he was pushing all of his consciousness and power into the dream network.

He was about to bring down another attack on Azar, when suddenly something happened. There was someone else there and Nanzu was pushed back. His mind becoming overwhelmed with emotions, pictures, memories, and nightmares that were not his own. He screeched and fell to his knees. In real life he let out a yelp and jerked. He shook his head vigorously in both realities and hissed through his teeth. His voice echoed in both worlds. "Get out! Get out! Get out!" He felt tears falling down his cheeks and looked at Jia with pure confusion. He didn't talk to anyone in particular. "Who are you? Who is it?"

I don't feel enough for you to cry. Here's a lullaby to close your eyes. Goodbye.

I wish that this night would never be over
Forget about the sunrise
There’s plenty of time to sleep when we die
Fight the sleep in your eyes

So let’s just stay awake until we grow older
I don’t wanna miss a second with you
If I had my way we’d never close our eyes, our eyes, never!
I'm wide awake

The tide of the battle had turned. Azar was on the run, but then again winning had never been Jia's intention. Her focus was on not loosing what was left of the brother she loved. She felt Nanzu begin another attack when Azar was swept up by a very interesting being. It wasn't the shape that was unusual it was the shield it wrapped around itself and Azar. When Nanzu's attack made contact both he and Jia were flooded by images and emotions. The siblings cried out in tandem but it shocked them a bit out of rhythm.

Jia watched the memories as they flashed by. The story of a small girl and her parents and the nightmare the girl's life had become. The story wasn't uncommon, nor was it exclusive to the realists. Instinctively Jia raised a memory of her own. The scene was a picnic in a sprawling green field with her mother, father and brother, happy and whole. Nanzu's smile was pure as they chased each other across the field. That had been a staggering 14 years ago, before everything fell apart. The girl was young, so terribly young to be facing the world that was Jia's reality. She pushed the shield's influence back and out of her and Nanzu's minds using her own memories to echo the girls. She couldn't break the shield, nor was she inclined to.

Jia collapsed next to Nanzu and looked at her brother's tear stained face. He was searching for whoever was behind the shield. Jia just grabbed his hands. "Nanzu, you've done enough." She glanced at Azar then back to Nanzu. "I want to go home. Please?" she pleaded. She let her emotions shine in her eyes. She hoped that he would bend to her request, but if he wouldn't stop fighting then she would do whatever it took to protect him. In a slightly morbid thought, Jia was willing to bet that if she died, Nanzu would tear down the network with his bare hands. Everything her father worked for would be gone, but there would be no more little girls abandoned for false dreams.

You made it so sweet 'til I woke up on the concrete...

They're all reactions!

That flaw leads him to guilt. The guilt leads him to shame.
The shame he compensates with pride and vanity.

Azar had thought them even. However, the tide changed suddenly. Nanzu was given a boost and his speed was staggering. There was the power that The Grim remembered. That overwhelming will and strength. Now he knew for a fact he was in trouble. There was no way that he could stand up to a full powered Day Dreamer. However he couldn't get away right now either. What was he going to do?

He was finally hit. Feeling the stinging pain he jerked. In the real world his vitals were going crazy. It made his chest hurt and his body quaked. In the network he pulled himself back to his feet and steady himself. However he wasn't alone. Familiar arms wrapped around him and protected him. The hissing voice was strange, but he knew it well enough. Looking up he heard the saddened voice whisper. Azar nodded and saw that Nanzu was out of it.

Azar didn't have to say anything he turned in the -monsters- arms and held onto her. He hummed a series of notes and suddenly they both disappeared. They'd wake up in the base. He sat up and looked over to the little girl who had saved him. Her small form breathing heavily and sweating harshly. Even the smallest time in the network was dangerous to her. He sighed and put a cool hand on her forehead as she began waking.

He's convinced himself he's god, we're just reminding him he's not. It takes humility to remember who we are.

Azar was saved and then he ran away. That traitor! That yellow bellied horror! He ran away from Nanzu! Nanzu was enraged and his nervous shouts turned to pain filled screams of rage that shook the entire dreamscape. Everything quaked and the people in the real world were filled with fear when Nanzu's eyes opened and the pupils were small and wild. He was breathing quickly as he broke the synch with his sister and stood up lightly and gently pulling away from her. He glared around and suddenly the table was flipped over. Tears were streaming down his cheeks and they were tinted a soft blue by the drugs that pulsed through his body.

Some brave souls tried to intervene. One going over to help Jia to her feet and try to lead her away. The other trying to restrain Nanzu. That one was quickly thrown and knocked out. The one that touched Jia was worse off. "Don't touch her!" he growled and a pulse of energy flared from him as he snatched that person's wrist to stop them. His touch was enough to send a flash of nightmare through the other reaper and they collapsed in a pile on the floor. Nanzu actually growled lowly before snatching Jia's hand in his and walking out of the lounge like area. "No one...No one...No one..." he began mumbling under his breath as he walked quickly only to lead Jia to an empty resting room. For those who needed to sleep.

He stopped and seemed to stare at the wall. Before suddenly collapsing to his knees. He began to wail and cry like an eight year old child. "It's not fair!" He shouted and gripped Jia's skirt as he leaned his head against her crying furiously. "Don't leave me! Jia never leave Nanzu! Don't make me be alone!" He sobbed unreasonably to his sister.

Nanzu was indeed crazy. You would be too if you went through everything like he did. He was tempermental, childish, and scared. He was constantly terrified of one thing. He didn't want anyone else to leave him. To hate him and want to get away. To hate him so much they didn't want to live near him even. The thought brought his mother's face to his mind and his sobbing became more violent. "You're gonna leave me too aren't you?!" He asked horrified and tightened his grip on the hem of her skirt. "Jia will hate Nanzu just like mommy does!"

I don't feel enough for you to cry. Here's a lullaby to close your eyes. Goodbye.

There was movement. The dreamscape shifted and so did reality. Jia's realized she was somehow half awake. She was walking with Nanzu in the real world and also standing next to him in the dream world. It must be a side affect of the sync. For the moment Jia was sharing Nanzu's ability to day dream. The effect was thankfully fading, but it let her be aware of how upset her brother was. She tried to tell those coming to help to just stay back but her voice didn't sound.

The side effects faded just in time for her to fully hear him crying and clinging to her. She leaned down and pet his hair with soothing strokes. "I'm not going anywhere, Nanzu." She leaned farther and hugged him as best she could until he let got of her skirt. Whispering calming words she shifted slowly to a more comfortable position. She wasn't sure how she managed it, but they ended up curled against one another on the floor. "I won't leave." she spoke again, "You are my one and only brother and nothing will ever change that." She held him and just listened to his breathing and the sound of the falling tears. This was her brother. The confused and broken little boy searching for the love he lost. She wished, not for the first time, that the world would just leave them alone if only for a while.

Naturally, that was when Jia heard the door swing open and the click of polished heels on the tile. She glanced up and met the very familiar glaring eyes of her father. Nanzu got his height from his father. Chang Si towered over the two and looked down on them like so much grime on his polished shoes. "Why is it that I have to hear of a Realist attack from a low ranking Weaver instead of my best agents?" His voice seemed calm on the surface, but Jia knew her father better than that. The disappointment was almost tangible in the air. She made a slight move to stand only to be stopped as her father raised a hand. "No, don't bother. I wouldn't want to impose." He lowered his hand and looked over them before turning his back on the siblings and straitening some imaginary folds in his suit. "As usual, I will take care of the mess that's been made. I expect you both back at your posts within the hour, is that clear?" With that he made to exit the room. Jia closed her eyes and tried not to cry. It wouldn't do any good, and would only wear her out further.

It took her a moment to realize the footsteps had stopped. Looking up again she met her father's eyes and for once he did nothing to hide the disgust in his features. "Father, I--" she stopped when his glare only intensified. "If you can't do your job, I will find someone else who can." Chang Si's voice made the statement into a dire threat. The kind of thing that promised unspeakable tortures if it was not obeyed. Then the door was slammed shut, cutting off the gaze from it's recipients. Staring at the closed door, Jia wondered if her father had ever really loved them or if it was just so corrupted that it was indistinguishable. She waited as long as she could holding tightly to Nanzu, but when the hour she had been granted was up she gently pulled away. She kissed her brother's forehead and as she left she smiled sadly at Nanzu. "I'm sorry, Brother, but I have to go. I'll see you later, okay?" Back into the viper pit she went, her brief reprieve gone.

Her system was over exerted within the dream and in the real world. Nanzu was strong and as he panicked the dreamscape was shaken and the systems were rattle. Tya's body rebelled the attack and she began running a fever. Her little chest rising and falling like the heartbeat of a mouse. Her skin was burning and cold sweat began running down her cheeks. The cold touch pulled her awake even faster and she opened half lidded eyes. "Pa...pa..." She whispered weakly and reached up a small hand which was quickly engulfed in Azar's large one.

Tya was helped back into her wheel chair and given some medicine. The weaver talked to Azar for a moment, telling him that she would need to eat and get a drink. They told him to go ahead and do it, but afterwards there was another assignment. Tya was shocked, they never sent someone in twice that quickly unless it was serious. She wanted to ask about it, but the weaver shook his head at her.

------------Two Days Later------------

Azar had gone on his mission two days ago. It had been an actual physical mission, but he hadn't come back and he hadn't reported back in. Tya had gone into the dreamscape seven times until she couldn't go anymore without it being fatal. Everyone told her not to worry. They said he'd be back in no time, but Tya knew the truth. They were lying to her to make her feel better. It wasn't working. No one would help her in the realists, so Tya came up with a better idea.

DreamCo's main building was large and spacious. She was terrified, but luckily no one recognized her. The benefit of having another form in the dreamscape. Plus no one would suspect such a young girl of being a realist. The ladies at the desk talked to her and got what information they needed. Tya was by herself today, she'd made it all the way here on her own. She was determined to find someone who would help her, and she knew the perfect person. How did she know? Because there had been talk about the Day Dreamer missing as well. No one had sensed him, seen him, heard from him, in two days as well. This worried Tya more and she knew someone else who would be worried about this.

"I'll only let Jia Si be my weaver. No one else. It's for my own health safety." Tya insisted and was shown to a consultant room where she was told to wait for Jia to come. Tya was worried of course that this would backfire. Yet, she had a feeling that Jia would be more interested in finding her brother.

Now that she was in DreamCo she was apalled by how many dreamers there were. She felt an overwhelming sense of sadness and pain. She had to wipe tears from her eyes. Then again, Tya had been able to track Azar a little bit. She had an idea of where he was, or at least in the dreamscape. He was there, but she couldn't access that area. Thus why she needed Jia.

If you asked any of the employees at DreamCo they would all tell you something similar. Normally Reapers had the hard job, but after an attack on the DreamScape. Then it was Weavers who went through hell. You had to calm all the dreamers down and reinitiate the patterns. You had to use ten times the energy you normally would and then go back to your normal job. There was no resting in-between. All the newer employees were complaining about it. It was almost funny.

"Hey Theia! We need you in the dreamscape an hour ago!" One of the other weavers called to him. Theia was a strange one, with a past that everyone gossiped about. He was a criminal years ago. Some said he did time for murder, other's said he never killed anyone...that would be too merciful. However he never seemed to care. He always laughed when people asked why he wasn't a Reaper. Though he never answered.

Theia sat down in one of the chairs and leaned his head back. The one who had shouted at him came up and tilted his head to the side. "I still think you're crazy for doing it like this." Theia smirked. "Just juice me up already." The man shook his head and then plunged a needle into his artery. The drug rushed straight to his head and he was out. Theia stood in a mess of rubble and shambles. "Let's fix this quickly. I didn't get my smoke break." He grinned and closed his eyes. Music started up around him and he began conducting with his hands. It swelled to a crescendo and then the fun began.

Knives appeared around Theia and began flying around the dreamscape. Everything they touched repaired itself. He fixed the landscape and the NPC's then pulled the dreamer to his feet and sent him back to his happy little world, after wiping the experience from his mind. Then it was on to the next dream. He kept an eye on multiple vitals all at once. No pun intended. He was close to one of the best Weavers that DreamCo had. His only issue was his attitude.

All the things you said!

Sleeping peacefully. At least that's what it looked like. Deep within the dreamscape she was watching and listening. Carefully. Cautiously. She wanted to see him. He was gone, she was still crying. In the dreamscape the only thing that changed about her was the black tears pouring down her cheeks. Never stopping.

She heard it now. The symphony playing deep within another's mind. She reached for that sound her heart pounding to the rhythm. She got closer and looked over the towering structures. There. The long red haired man conducting an orchestra of rebuilding. Her heart thudded in her chest, froze for a beat, and then ached. Her entire being wanted nothing more then to run. To scream. The tears became more violent burning the ground they fell on. She quickly tilted her head back and fell to her back. Lying on the ground and blending in with the dream.

Clarity sighed heavily and covered her eyes. She pursed her lips and put her tongue to the back of her teeth. Low and high pitched. A whistle broke through the music. Disrupting it ever so slightly for a moment and then suspending it. Freezing the dream they were in. She stood up and walked out from her hiding. She just looked at him.

He'd known she was there. It would be only a few moments before someone noticed the suspension. She didn't have enough time. She ran to him, but instead of attacking him she wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek. She slid something into his hand and then backtracked. She gave him a smile and then vanished from where she stood. The music resumed as did the dream. Like she'd never been there.

Two days. Two long, horrible days where the only reprieve was passing out from exhaustion. Nanzu had been sent on what her father called an "extended mission". Jia had only had a spare moment to see her brother off, but even then there was a nagging sense of something wrong. Like she was saying goodbye for the very last time.

She hadn't heard from him since. Father told her it was because his mission required radio silence, but she knew her brother better than that. Through the dream scape there was always a faint bond, like a lifeline, that held between them even when Nanzu was halfway across the planet. Not long after Nanzu had left for his mission she had felt that bond stretch thin and snap. She had spent every moment she could spare to trying to find him.

Jia didn't want to think this of her father, but she suspected he was lying to her about what had happened to her brother. She wondered if the CEO of DreamCo. hadn't locked up the Daydreamer as a danger, or worse, killed him. There was little evidence either way, and Jia's only shot at finding the truth was to keep a low profile and her eyes and ears open.

When she passed the Weaver dispatch desk and received her assignments like normal, she was surprised to see only one file in her inbox. But understanding dawned on her when she saw it was a first time dreamer. DreamCo. employed a long consultation phase so that the Weavers could provide the best experience possible. Jia hardly ever handled this phase herself, but there was a note that she had been requested specifically for medical reasons. She walked to the assigned room unsure of what to expect. She certainly never would have expected the sight that greeted her.

There was a very familiar little girl that looked up as Jia walked in. Though she had only seen the girl in the dreamscape, Jia knew very well who this girl was. "So..." Jia did a double take and glanced down at her chart and more specifically at the name written. "Tya. I'm here, as you requested." She walked closer and sat in one of the chairs in the room. She knew very well that this could be a trap, but she didn't think Azar knew the girl was here. Azar was many things, but he was not the type to send a little girl somewhere in his place. "We have plenty of time before anyone suspects anything so why don't you tell me why you are really here?"

How long had it been? How many days? Or was it months? Time didn't seem to move at all here. Yet as he noticed it, it was just a background thought. All he really cared about was the crazed demon in front of him. Azar had been locked in battle and no amount of exhaustion could keep him from continuing. He had to keep going. He had to defeat his enemy. Who was his enemy?

Nanzu was quickly charging at him again. Azar and Nanzu had been locked in this equal battle and neither was close to giving up. Some part of Azar said that this was ridiculous and would end in both of their deaths. However neither of them seemed to be willing to pay much mind to reason. They were too busy trying to kill each other.

Nanzu swung the heavy scythe towards the insane reaper and it pierced into his shoulder. The Grimm simply roared and pushed forward. Azar had taken enough damage to cause cardiac arrest, yet he was still alive. The same had to be said for Nanzu. Someone was keeping them alive.

He's convinced himself he's god, we're just reminding him he's not. It takes humility to remember who we are.

Nanzu had to let go of his sister and let her go back to her work. Nanzu knew she was telling the truth. She would always be there for him. He could relax and let her go. He'd just panicked. That's all it was. He'd see her in just a few hours. Or so he thought.

His father had come back and grabbed him by the wrist. Yelling at him. Screaming at him about all the damage he'd caused. How he was out of control. "It's not your fault though...people just don't understand you. You're a monster Nanzu. Not a human. A monster...."

"You're a monster! That's why your Mother left you!"
Those words echoed in his head. Pounded in his veins like poison burning him. His mind was erased by anger and sorrow. Things he had to relieve. Thankfully in the dark dome of a city scape where rain fell like tears, there was a target for his anger. Azar...the traitor. He was there and he was now the recipient of all of Nanzu's anger.

The battle waged on, but Nanzu didn't question it. He was bloodied, bruised, and for once...unaware of the real world. In fact he had almost completely forgotten about it. "Die...die...die...die...DIE!" All he could think of was this man's death. He wanted him gone forever. This man had to be the reason for all of it....right? After all there was no one else but Nanzu and Azar. That's all that was there. Was an empty city, the rain, and them. Their blood washing out in a rainbow of grotesque colors and claws and scythes tore into flesh.

I don't feel enough for you to cry. Here's a lullaby to close your eyes. Goodbye.

Nanzu was acting like something else. Something so inhuman, even for the Daydreamer. Something primal and furious. Azar had no clue why, but seeing the man like this made him realize how much of a danger he was to him. Thoughts flew in his mind of all the people who were in danger if this mad beast kept up his ways. No one was safe. Possibly even his sister...Jia. Where was she? Azar couldn't sense her anywhere. Now that he tried, he couldn't sense anyone else. They were completely alone. Blocked off from the rest of the network.

While his mind was distracted his body was still going. His dream self was acting as if controlled by some other primal need. An urge to purge this demon from the world. Since when was he the white knight? His mind was fighting against something. Or possibly some one else! There was something driving him to fight. It was strong and though he now realized it wasn't his own will, he couldn't fight it.

He's convinced himself he's god, we're just reminding him he's not. It takes humility to remember who we are.

Not superhuman
(I'm not superhuman)

Someone save me from the H A T E
It's just another W A R
Just another family torn
(We're falling from our faith today)

Just a S T E P from the edge
Just another day in the W O R L D we live

Tya was only sitting in the room for a few minutes. The people there were very understanding to her bratty demands. But then again she already showed them she could pay. That wasn't a big deal. Hell her family had left her plenty of money to take care of herself. Though there was no real need for it when you weren't interested in the biggest brand name out there. However it was helpful to her now. She sat in the room twiddling her fingers and trying to keep herself calm.

Jia walked in and she jumped a little. She knew how dangerous it was to be here. She was little red riding hood wandering off the path and hugging the big bad wolf. Though Jia was more like a princess then a wolf. Maybe one of those mean princesses...but she didn't really look like a villain. Tya could only go off of what she knew about the woman though. And everything said she was a bad person working for a bad company.

Tya got on her best brave face and serious eyes. "Papa...I mean...Azar has gone missing..." She paused for a moment. "Two days ago he went on a physical mission. He went missing the same time the Daydreamer did." She stated and bit her lip nervously. She wasn't sure how Jia would react. "I know where they are in the dreamscape...but it's guarded by a barrier. I can't get into it, but I traced the barrier back here...to the top floor in Monseur SI's office. That's were the power's coming from."

Of all the things Jia expected Tya to say, it wasn't this. Several seconds passed as a rainbow of emotion fluttered over her face. Tya's rendition of Azar's mission and subsequent disappearance matched up with what had happened to Nanzu in a way that made a painful amount of sense. And really, if she was honest, she wouldn't put it past her father to kidnap a realist. But why? What was the goal in such an action? And what did it have to do with Nanzu?

The million dollar question was what was she going to DO about it. Could she live with herself if she did what she was strictly supposed to do and turn Tya in as a realist? No. The girl had a point. The only place Jia hadn't looked in the dream network was the core. Which happened to be in her father's office. Jia sighed. "I appreciate how far you are willing to go for someone you care for. Allow me to confirm things from this side before we proceed any farther. I promise on my honor that I will not raise an alarm in this attempt." Hopefully that was enough to get Tya to remain calm, even if she didn't trust Jia one bit.

Sitting down at the room's terminal she called up the program used to monitor the more mechanical side of the dream network. The actual maintenance was handled by others, but weavers had access and authority to adjust things such as the power level of the machines that held dreamers in sleep. Through these channels Jia used her administrative code to initiate a scan of the network power levels. Precious moments ticked past as the computer worked but finally the results were displayed. A large amount of power was being shunted directly from the core to some kind of containment field. A field that was not there three days ago at the time of the last system scan. Looking at the specifications for the containment she could see that it was designed to hold a portion of the network in it's own sort of pocket. Because it wasn't part of the network and only connected to the core for power it was invisible inside the dreamscape. And even if she had looked, the glare of the core itself would hide the shadow that was the containment.

Jia dropped her head and her shoulders tensed in anger. "It seems I have been fooled. There's a pocket of the network that has been cut off from the rest and is being held in the shadow of the dream network's core. It's the only place that could possibly hold both my brother and Azar without anyone here noticing." She took a small breath to calm down before turning in her chair to face Tya. "If we are going to free the ones we care about we need to work together. With you here as a guest, it's less likely we will get questioned on the way there since the more sensitive equipment is kept near the core. At the same time, I can't let you into the dreamscape once we get to the core. The only way into where Nanzu and Azar are is through the core which is going to take all my concentration. Which means I can't keep your vitals steady at the same time." She didn't need to mention the fact that they would essentially be breaking into her father's office. Or that a million things could go wrong with this plan. If they did this and failed, Jia's life was pretty much forfeit anyway. Chang Si had an absolute zero tolerance policy on betrayal.

Maybe she was finally hitting the rebellious stage, but Jia was done with watching her family fall apart from the inside out. She held out her hand to Tya with eyes full of determination. "Do we have a truce, then?"

You made it so sweet 'til I woke up on the concrete...
