FINDING THE SEEDLING
Pyper lifted her weary head as her left eyelid fluttered open, revealing an ocean of blue. Her cheeks were stained with tears, tears...and blood. It was obvious she had been crying for awhile. But her right eye was glued shut by the dried crimson liquid. The single, pearl horn on her forehead glittered in the moonlight. It was the soul cause of this hopeless disaster. If it hadn't been for the rumors, she might have been safe. But the scarcity of her race only made things worse. If only some people would not go so far as to believe a unicorn girl's horn could grant wishes.
But now, with her attacker gone, and she in hiding, she finally felt a little more security in this place. Yes, this place...where was she exactly? She had been running so fast, she hadn't even been paying attention to where she was going. Now, not really caring where she was, peacefully, she rested, eventually falling asleep.
In the morning, sunbeams trickled through the scattered branches of the trees. The temperature was cool with a gentle breeze that danced across the leaves, sending the little bits of green that there were, spiraling down to the forest floor. The light, morning mist mingled with the scent of freshly-bloomed flowers and the birds chirped, singing songs. Wild creatures skittered throughout the shade, their glittery eyes sparkling in the dark, watching Pyper's every movement as she awakened. She found herself beneath a massive tree. It loomed over her like a giant, tall and forboding. Now she had the time to take a good look around, or at least try. Her eye stung when she touched it so she left it alone, content with the fact that at least she was still alive.
Pyper was an elegant creature; the likes many have not seen, for she dwells in the forest and scarcely comes into town. A unicorn child, the people called her. A single horn on her forehead that was said to grant wishes. She yawned and stretched, rising to her hooved feet. Her white fur glistened, and her fluffy tail swished back and forth. She neatly brushed the tossled feathers on her winged hips, picking at the thorns and brambles. So special she was, and yet, she still felt so small and inadequate in her current surroundings.
Something caught her attention though. Something even smaller than herself. On the ground, a tiny seed sparkled in the light. She stared with wide eyes in wonderment as she bent over and picked it up. She turned the seed over in her palm; her intrigue growing with every moment. There was something special about this seed, though she couldn't say what. In fact there was something special about this entire place, that she just couldn't put her finger on. So she placed the seed in her satchel and took off into the forest, careful not to touch anything as she might disturb the beauty and peace that lingered.
Every day for a week she would return to this safe spot. She would lie in the long grass and play her ocarina that she wore around her neck. And with each of those days the seedling would begin to almost glow with happiness. And it filled her with a sense of joy and optimism in this dark world around her. It was as if she had finally found a friend. No longer alone.

Dear Journal,
It's been some time now since I've sat down and wrote out my thoughts. But lately my boring life has taken a turn...probably for the worst. I don't know whether or not to be happy or sad. I lost my vision in my right eye the other day. It still aches, and you wouldn't believe how hard this is to write; focusing on each line, trying to scribble out something legible. But anyway, to begin things, I received an order to come meet the other followers of the Queen. Kerberos, her knight, wanted us to try and bring her back into our world by undoing a seal. Well we succeeded, though Kerberos did most of the work. In the process I was gifted a treeling. Cute little thing, she is. I call her Yggdra. I was amazed to find out she was quite the battler when we were attacked by that woman Enfaya and her subordinates. They ambushed us during the ceremony of restoring our Queen, but we still managed to pull though. Now she will sit on her throne once more. I will serve her of course, though to tell you the truth, it's mostly out of fear. But that's all past.
Sometime later I was attacked for reasons unknown. I presumed it was someone after my horn, but it could have been a follower of Enfaya for all I know. I've cleaned up my wounds since then. And as luck would have it, I came across a seedling when I was hiding from my attacker. At least, this is what I presume a seedling to look like. Kerberos told me about them. How they will grow into human-like beings when given the proper care and fight the good fight for their Queen as well, just like me. So when the seed began to glow, I think it grew accustomed to me; perhaps accepting me as its caretaker. So I've come to the conclusion that soon I should bury it, but the question is 'where?'. I've wandered near and far, all over the place for the perfect spot. And I've chosen the beautiful ruin of Elore. So I'm packing my things and setting out on a journey there post haste. I will hopefully find a place nearby the planting site where I can stay. I will abide there until my little seedling has grown enough where it can move about on its own; like Kerberos and the other boy with the pink hair whom I saw during the battle with Enfaya.
Anyway, I head out soon, so I shall leave you now.
Signed, Pyper Huntington

PLANTING
It was a beautiful sight to behold. The ruins of an ancient civilization. And somewhere here amongst the foliage covered buildings and knocked over pillars would be the perfect spot to plant Lumen. Yes Lumen, that is what Pyper had chosen to call him.
After combing over the place with a keen eye, Pyper had picked out the perfect spot. The soil was excellent, and there was an equal mix of shade and sunlight for the little one to blossom. And just as Kerberos had suggested, Pyper would not carry Lumen around in a pot, but leave him, carefully, under her dutiful watch in this place of solitude.
Digging into the earth with her pale hands, she began creating a hole, the appropriate size for the seedling. Once she decided it was deep enough, she carefully placed Lumen inside and covered him with the dirt that she had, moments ago, removed.
"There, that was simple. And now for some water, and this little stick to mark the spot." She sprinkled a little water, and mounted her stick so she would be sure to come back to the right place for Lumen's daily care. "It's too bad I don't have a blanket or something for it though..." she muttered, looking a little sad.
But maybe she could find a town and swipe a few necessities. Hopefully things that would be overlooked. And with that she got up and ordered Yggdra, her treeling, to stand guard while she was away. Yggdra happily oblidged. And from there Pyper set out on her next mission: Find Those Necessities.
