Your First Shamanic Journey

Yes, I want you to post your journey here. This is so I know what you saw and what you experinced.


I want you to take a journey to the underworld. Please pick a postion that is comfortable, but will not easily put you asleep. You may pick out something drumming, or something that will bring you to an altered state of conscouness(sp?)

You are strictly going here to look around! You may meet animals,people, and various other things. You may talk with them. But you do not need to ask them speific questions at this time. Please be polite to them though, give them respect.

You are only going to get the lay of the land, and be comfortable about it. Take your time and explorer. Do not rush!

Just let the images flow, do not worry if you think that you are just making this up. Don't second guess yourself. Just go with it. See where it takes you.

After you come back, take your time doing this. Please write down your experince and mark it as your first shamanic journey, with a date and time.
Then when you are able please post it here. Do not be scared to post it. Everyone's experinces are different, nothing wrong with that. But please post it so that we all can see it and that I can help you with anything you may have seen.

i went to bed last night w/ the intent to do this but didn't realy have chance cause i wasn't the only 1 in there. buti did put on my drumming cd. i ended up spending most the night having dreams about about being in a forest/jungle running around for gods. there were distinctly elements of water & fire being used. & i remember in 1 temple/holy place there was a rope wall...but it wasn't made of rope. the rope was replaced w/ really small rectangular pieces of stone. looked like snowflake um... s**t i can't remember the name. & they were like connected by energy just hanging there. i remember something about zeus & herculese...something about i could be herculese....(btw i was a guy here)

Later on it turned into something a bit more modern & this town was being controlled by 1 group & i was an outsider...& this town's people at night would get shoved into these caves & locked in till morning. & these caves were ******** freaky! u would take an elevator like ride down deeper & deeper til all u see is red. & all around u is a river of blood. & blood is dripping down from the ceilings in some places... & then i woke up. i dunno if this was just weird dreams, or if they were a meditation done when i let loose as soon as i lost consciousness?

I really do not know what to tell you on this one. I would try to do the journey again and see if something else comes up. Because, I know I have never seen something like this before. Lol!

well the thing is i gave up on attempting the meditation the moment nayan turned on the tv in our room. so i pretty much just went to sleep...but then i started seeing that stuff...but yea i'll see about doing it tonight.

I think I'm going to have to try again later.. I was using a jar with small pieces of a glass-like rock in it as a rattle and ended up with something not like my normal, but not quite what I expected either... After what seemed like a very long time of focusing on the sound, I got a sudden certain feeling that if I opened my eyes, I wouldn't be in my room, but I wasn't allowed to test it... Then I got a flash-image of a small green bush growing in a ray of light in a very dark area, maybe a forest... Then in a row I had the sensations of being warm (which I haven't been since my last sunburn healed), tingly, happy, and then safe.... It was kind of like the way a really good summer day feels.... Then the phone rang, which scared me out of my wits.. Once I was done on the phone though, I realized I was having a lot of trouble walking properly and started wondering why... And then connected it to part of how I was feeling right after the image flashed... Sort of like floating was a more natural way to do anything, and that walking was very clumsy and awkward....

You were jolted out of it, and then didn't have time to composs yourself, which will effect your balance. Good job though! You saw a forest. Most people see a forset when they first go in.

Try seeing if you can decending into a hole in a tree, cave or a hole in the sand, to put in your brain that you are desending into the underworld.
But I am good with the results so far. Keep it up!

I went to my place on the sandy beach and stared off into the sunrise, as I did this, I went down into the sand and ended up in a birchwood forest. I walked around, listening to the birds, smelling the damp rich earth smell. I walked among the trees for a while and came to an opening. It was a field with rocks and random trees here and there. I heard in the distance a babbling brook and saw animals going on with their daily lives. Deer frolicking and rabbits hopping.
I moved on passed the field and followed the brook that turned into a river and then a waterfall. I walked into the sheet of water and felt the pressure of the water pounding down on me and the coldness of it. I started to feel "buzzy" and decided it was time to come back. I ease myself out, I followed the brook to the feild then through the woods then felt myself pulled back up onto the sand and then I drawed myself out of the sunrise.

Monday's vision was more celtic. I asked where I was on the shaman path and got another riddle. I'm at the beginning and at the end.

Today, my journey puzzled me. I have been journey to the other realms for many years but just started studing the shaman path for about a year. I sat under the all knowing tree and met a red squirrel. He was very talkative but all in riddle form. I was holding a ring that I got as a child for my birthday from a cherokee chief. It's an owl ring made of silver and turquoise. The squirrel imform me that I was going down the wrong path and that not everything has a meaning. He states that the shaman path is correct. I have been studing celtic shamanism before I looked at native american shaman. I have been having visions of a native american medicine wheel and other items that are native american. After seeing these items, the squirrel started up the tree and was on a branch over my head. He dropped an acorn next to me. I offered to share the acorn with him and we ate it together.

My first journey was the first time attempting to contact the cosmic world. I saw a forest as if waking up from a deep slumber. I began walking along a stream I had woken up next to and followed it down. As the wind blew against my hair and body the tree's constantly flowing with visible energies made even more apparent as the wind carried them with it. I came to a waterfall and small lake where outcroppings of rocks surrounded it. As I looked around I noticed a cave behind the waterfall. I entered it as if it were welcoming me. I walked along the narrow passage even though there was no light it was clearly visible. As I came to the end of the passage there was a light filled grotto of sorts... In the middle of all the life and water spray that landed on the ground was a tree though no leaves it was full of life. At the base of the tree was where I met my hero. The wolf who has been helping me ever since. He allowed me to name him Hero and has been a faithful companion to me since.
