Yes, we should totally make esperanto subtitles for anime series smile

Ĉu there is anyone who knows stuff about subbing? As of what I have understood, you can make .srt files to use with any video file if you have a good video player (VLC ftw...). The sad part with .srt files is the timing - you have to note the exact times for each line to appear on the screen. BUT if you have a video file with an associated .srt-file, then you can just open it with a text editor and simply translate each line and let the timestamps remain!

Ain't I right? I've gotta test this out... sometime biggrin

(I'm sorry for this so spontaneous thread, but it's not like we have to keep real order among the threads, since this guild is kind-a' dead anyways >.<,)

Doesn't have to be dead if people come around.

This is a pretty cool idea. It would take time though. Should people have the right file type, I might be able to do some translations with Movie Maker.

I was actually planning on translating the DBZ manga into Esperanto anyway ...

Oh, yeah, hi.

The best would be to start easy with a short or going-on anime, wouldn't it? Starting off translating Naruto seems a bit pointless rolleyes

(... which I also wrote in my PM reply to you, Dirtmonkeyal, but here too because otherwise I won't be alerted when you answer the thread since I obviously haven't been checking it... cheese_whine )

This is really a good idea! For practice we can try OVAs.

I guess no one has looked here in a while, but it looks like someone finally did it:

I wonder how good the translation is?

Better yet, if the anime is dubbed into Esperanto.
