User ImageWhere had the mirror taken her this time? Belle was only beginning to understand the object's newly awakening power. Now however, the green shimmer that always seemed to radiate from it was faint, leaving its dulled silvery features to appear less... enchanted. It hadn't completely gone out, however, Perhaps it simply needed time to recharge before she could travel again... hopefully. Until then, where was she?

It was a city, foreign to her yet there were a few touches to the architecture and atmosphere that had a slight familiarity. Moreover, everyone seemed to be in a festive mood, which if nothing else kept her spirits uplifted even while she was in an unfamiliar world. But why would... what was his name now?... Dreamfinder as he called himself want her to visit such a strange place? Did minions of the Overtakers lurk even in a festive city such as this? Or perhaps there was another reason.

For the time being, Belle sat at an outdoor cafe sipping tea. She blended in with the locals well enough, and hadn't drawn any attention to herself -- probably a first in her life. She pored over the pocket-sized spellbook that was now her personal tome, reviewing the enchantments within. Ironic, that she of all people, who had broken such an enchantment was now learning to cast them herself. Not that she was going to put a curse on an entire castle and its inhabitants, but as she mastered the art perhaps she could put it to good use for the Pen Alliance.

The two chipmunk pilots were kind to explain what Phil couldn't. How the other Alliance members out there are trying to find one another while there are a couple of the Overtakers how found each other. Not knowing who specifically found whom, Chip and Dale could only see so much on their map on the top right corner of their window. Only of those who have found purpose with the Alliance or a true villain were able to be seen as light-up dots. In fact. "Hey! I think someone new showed up! They're at the Beas--no! New Orleans!" Mulan moved carefully from the cargo area of the gummi ship towards the bridge. Mouthing "New Orleans" in confusion, a different screen showed up. There were some written information, but it was too small to see. No, really. The chipmunks, however, were able to read it perfectly. Both of their faces read excitement, but then faded to stoic and straight into worrisome. Slowly looking back and up to Mulan, she knitted her eyebrows in confusion. "What is wrong?" The two stared at her a little bit longer, before looked at each other, tails wagging with delight before their voices became one with excitement. "MAKEOVER!" Putting the gummi ship on auto-pilot, the two ran to her with glee as they forced her feet and the rest of her to move in the direction of the only small alcove in the whole of the ship.

About an hour or a bit more later, Mulan completely changed her outfit to be more "adaptive" with the environment; or at least the chipmunks want to assume she would be. As much as she found comfort in armor, the chipmunks had different ideas. Giving a small glare to the two as they ran back with glee to the area to fly the gummi ship, Mulan readjusted the empire belt a little before before rebuttoning the vest. At the ready to sit down again, she noticed a new parcel bag, but the hilt of the sword was protruding out. Her face was starting to turn red when a small piece of paper was sticking out of the bag. Knitting her eyebrows in confusion, she picked up the paper and read it.

This bag can hold items as tall as you and can hold up to the amount of your weight without feeling so. There is another bag within this bag. Please hand it to your new companion.

                ~ Merlin

Pursing her lips to the side, Mulan looked over to the two chipmunks who didn't say anything for a moment before a small green light near a corner of the gummi ship before a green-lit circle appeared on the ground.
"Oh! The SAVE Point is active!" "The what?" "Staged Allocation Visible Energy Point. SAVE! Head over to it and it will teleport you to New Orleans." Cautious and yet curious, Mulan stuffed the note into the bag and picked it up before securing it around her shoulder. Even with her sword in there entirely, the bag seemed no heavier than a young pup. Stepping over to the green-lit circle, she stepped into the middle of it and faced the chipmunks. "Call us when you find the person and will pick you two up!" "But how do I ca--" Before Mulan could finish her question, let alone getting an answer, green light turned into a glow in the form of a tube around her and the sight of the chipmunks and being aboard the gummi ship were gone.

The green glow tube was no longer a tube as it just seemed like it did a simple shower, Mulan slowly appeared on the dirt ground. The vague scent of food and swamp hit her nose first before realizing how she ended up in New Orleans.
"Is this how I am going to land at every location?" Looking upwards, since she was on her back once again, the skies were blue with light wisps of clouds slowly rolling onward. Fairly certain her Ancestors were having a keen ol' time laughing their heads off at the situation Mulan always puts herself in. Faint sound of music was finally reaching her ears; somewhat melancholic, but not for long as the rhythm gained speed. Finally sitting up, it seemed like she was just outside of a city as folks travelled in and out at a steady pace. Standing up and dusting herself off, Mulan did her best to just blend.

Oddly, it worked. Granted, there were some of the citizens that looked at her curiously; but she only realized there were not many...of her ethnicity. Mixtures of those who had melanin and those who did not were aplenty; but not so much of Asian heritage. It took a bit just for her to relax, but after an hour or so of just roaming about the town, she just seemed like any other visitor. Not long after relaxing, the hand that had her scar started to itch. At first, Mulan thought nothing of it; but it kept getting worse. The itch started to tingle a bit in her hand; but she felt fine; well, until she passed by an outdoor cafe--then again, there were quite a few of those during her small amount of time visiting this area.
By then her hand seemed like it was on fire, but it wasn't at the moment. Finally fed up with the nuisance; Mulan stared at her hand, as if it would respond to her.
"Is there a reason why you are doing this?" And on cue, the scar on her hand slowly gave off a soft glow, which then matched in sync with a soft glow emitting off from a book. The book was being held by a young woman not even ten feet away from where she was standing. Giving over a side glance to the woman, then to the book, the former general looked back to her hand. "Oh."

Relaxing her hand, Mulan rolled her shoulders back and took sheepish steps closer to the young woman. Not too sure whether the young woman paid attention to the soft glow from the book, let alone anything else outside of the printed text, she let out a small and singular clearing of the throat. "So, uh, books are great." General of her own army fleet. Fought in countless battles. Socialized with the Emperor and his family. Bloody saved China and Mulan is still the worst conversation starter to ever walk the earth.

User ImageThe book began to emit a soft tingling sensation as Belle continued to review it and sip her tea. Closing the book, the three-circled insignia on the cover was glowing faintly. Was something happening? It would glow when she was casting magic, but never before had she seen it light up without her activating it. Belle cautiously scanned the area for anything... or anyone out of the ordinary. Dreamfinder had mentioned there was a chance of her meeting others within the Pen Alliance here... and that something was about to happen. It was a shame he didn't know more. Belle had no idea what to look for.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the voice of another, first a soft affirming, but then she brought up an interest in books! Looking up, Belle saw a young lady not too much older than herself standing in front of the table. She didn't seem to be from around here either, but at least dressed the part... somewhat. As diverse as the people of New Orleans looked, this new arrival appeared quite different still.. and there was something else about her that made Belle take interest. Of course, she lit up on her mention of books, but Belle hadn't picked up that it was something specific about her spellbook that she was referring to.

"Oh yes! Books are absolutely wonderful!" She stood up, greeting the newcomer with pure, childish excitement. She kept the spellbook in her hands, still keeping it closed but having completely lost focus on the glow. "Faraway lands, romance, swordfights, there's so many places they can take you! I've had a love of reading since I was a child! There's so much you can learn too!" It may have been for the better to keep focus on her mission, but she had made a new friend! Even if this was just an ordinary resident of New Orleans, Belle would be certain to come back and visit from time to time. Of course... there was that gut feeling that this lady was more than that. "Was it my book that caught your eye? Honestly... I've never seen it do that all by itself before."

I'M AN UGLY OLD CREEP! The magnificent, marvelous, mad, mad, mad, mad Madam Mim!

Opening a portal to another world was to someone like Mim, as easy as pie. And so she stepped out of the swirling portal and into a shadowed Alley way in New Orleans. She stepped out into bright mid afternoon sun and scrunched her face up in disgust at the terrible weather, then tried to pull the lavender cloche down to hide her ashen skin under it's brim.

Of course Mim was dressed for the era, a style that in no way suited her pear shaped body and knobby rougeless knees. It didn't matter a whit to to Mim though. She moved down the street with a bouncy energy thuroughly unbefitting someone her age, pausing ocassionally to make at passer by, or steal a lollipop from a small child. Cackling wildly as their parents found their voices missing when they tried to tell her off.

Was it pointless, probably, beneath most of her compatriots in The Overtakers, also probably, but was was the point to anything if not to enjoy it?

Finally, on her meander something caught her attention, there was a crackle of magic in the air that made all the hair on her legs stand on end.
"Oh, delightful!" Mim paused, took a deep breath and extended herself, her own magic reaching out to feel around for the new one. "And there you are!" Mim honed in on that little spark of the arcane and bounded over to where a young woman was reading.

The book itself was a shining beacon, drowning out the woman reading it. And it's magic was painfully familiar, A frown passed over Mim's rounded features. Of course, the pen guard, what a shame, such magical potential going to waste like that. Mim let out a sad little sigh and shook her head before approaching, once again buzzing with vivacious energy.

"Learning anything from that musty old thing?" Mim asked, suddenly there and peering over Belles shoulder, no regard for personal space.

And yes, it was definitely one of Sid's. The kind she "couldn't be trusted with." Mim's fingers itched to reach out and grab it, so she did, leaning over the book farther to idly flip to the next page, rolling her eyes as she quickly scanned the subject matter. "Parlour tricks really," she sighed seemingly disappointed by the tome.

User ImageBelle casually sipped tea as she studied her strange little tome. She was getting a better look at some of the spells which she had hastily copied while preparing for her journey to who-knows-where. It was exciting and new and that was all that mattered. Yet the magic she was attempting to learn just got curiouser and curiouser. The incantations didn't match up with any language she was familiar with -- and Belle had read a lot of books. Sure, she couldn't understand every langauge, but they each had her own signature mannerisms. 'Bibidi Bobidi Boo' was totally foreign. 'Higitus Figitus' was vaguely Latin-sounding but came out as nonsense.

What couldn't be argued however, was the incantations, as silly as they were did manage to perform. Belle cupped her hands over her teacup as she muttered another "Higitus Figitus" quietly under her breath. The spoon that had been lying on the table rose into an upright position, standing on its handle before jumping into Belle's tea and began to stir. After a few strikes it reverted to its original, lifeless state. 'An animation spell, this could be of use.' Still a lot to figure out, and definitely a lot of practice, but it was something that would come in handy for certain.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a hoarse, feminine voice. Belle instinctively snapped the book shut, clutching it as she turned around to great the elderly woman behind her. It was a rather odd comment, but she certainly made herself clear that she was aware of what the book was. And from the sound of it, it wasn't simply because she had caught a glimpse of the text. Odd as it was, she had encountered another who could use magic, and was probably more experienced. "I've only just begun to study it," Belle answered. There was something not quite right about this, perhaps the other woman's attitude but she felt a need to be cautious. "I suppose it's best to start out with simple spells before moving on to more advanced magic." She was a little insulted that what she had done, small as it was, was compared to a magician using sleight of hand, but then again, that might have been just what this person would have wanted, which urged Belle to keep a straight face.

The brunette was on edge, which only brightened Mim's mood, nothing better then people being frightened of her, even if she had pulled the book away from her, which prompted a brief frown to flick across her face, as she let out a put upon sigh. "I suppose if you've got the time to waste." Mim had drilled the basics for years. "But if you want to learn anything fun," Mim snapped her fingers and a bright purple flame ignited, opening her other palm for it to jump to the other, shifting before exploding into a small fire work and fizzling out. "You just need to jump right into it."

The flame itself was nothing, a cantrip, a passing thought given form. "Flip to the back, pick something with a name you can't pronounce and dive in." Mim's emerald eyes gleamed with excitment, so many possibilities, so much nostalgia. Mim hopped up into the chair across from Belle. Short legs swinging idly as she leaned in on one elbow. "But there's no need to be coy, go on, show off." Mim said, gesturing with her free hand at the spell book Belle was holding.
