Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
The group of people scattered, the majority backing away from the creature with as much speed as they could muster. There were those few though that stayed, that didn't cower, even though they were possibly just as frightened as everyone else in the situation.
The young leaf girl and the shifter that were causing trouble before sprang to action, but it was too late. No sooner than they had thrown their shots at the cloaked figure, the air wavered for a split second before ripping open and leaking an inky blackness into the air. The cloaked figure and the shifter girl disappeared in an instance, the fire magic that had been launched at them puffing into a smoke cloud in the darkness before it all just disappeared.
The crowd was left behind, the air feeling like static. The leaders were left with their weapons drawn. They had all been unable to reach the girl in time.

Nyxamora | 7 |As a ball of flame went hurtling past her ear, mirroring the ark of the stone she had cast herself, Nyx felt a surge of energy bloom from her chest and race to her other extremities, making her toes and fingers tingle. This is what it felt like to be in a real fight, with real stakes. The closest thing to war she’d ever been able to partake in. And it was thrilling.
But just as soon, everything was over.
The creature was gone, and the girl with it. Just like that. No resolution, her stone never even found its target. The fight was over before it even had a chance to begin. And with it, Nyx felt an intense wave of disappointment, of energy wasted, hype that had nowhere to go. Her stance remained charged and defensive, hoping that maybe the thing might just come back.
Waiting for something to happen.

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
The girl was gone, the strange creature with her. Enki only seemed more angry. Angry he couldn't do something, angry he hadn't reached her in time, and angry that he didn't know who or what that thing was. He let out a sound of frustration, his temper getting the better of him before the attention was drawn to Antiope.
She had a look on her face, like she had just made a sudden realization, a dark realization if that was the case. Her face was distant, but she shook her head and looked to Enki and Enlil. "I think I know what's behind the kidnappings." There were some in the crowd who thought... well, obviously. They had all just seen what was behind the kidnappings, but it didn't take long for everyone to figure out she meant what was really behind the kidnappings. A name. "Yansa had mentioned it in passing. It was just something she had told me when talking about the Alkidike culture, about their lore and legends, but this came up. Things that walked on two legs, their faces always covered in hoods, their minds warped and evil, if they even had any other thoughts that 'kill'. They were evil, but they were just superstition. I don't think even Yanse knew they were real, though she might have had her suspicions."
She took a deep breath, her face looking over the crowd. "I think these are the Bug Mages."

Tsallin Post 7
"What happened?" Tsallin was a bit short yet to see all of what had been going on in the crowd. But Ruulu had frozen beside him, plus all the screaming and weapons flying and chaos..that had sort of told him too.
His hair was standing on end. There were strange things going on and now he just wanted to be with his Mother and Father safe in their arms in the heart of the Oban Empire.
He clung to Ruulu's leg.

Ruulu Post 7
Ruulu scooped Tsallin up and inserted herself between the biggest burliest guards she could find. There were quite a few of them around and she felt better here, if it were only her she would be going after the thing most likely but the thought nary crossed her mind with Tsallin here, he was pack he was more important than any bug creature from hell.
Her brother had alluded to these creatures once a tale about mother but he had never ever gone into detail..he knew what they were, mom knew what they were she needed to find them and keep Tsallin safe at the same time. The last she had heard Arron was in Zena.
"I think I know but its not good."

Drexl - Post 6 Lixes got a long bewildered look, Drexl's muscles flexed for a moment before he let go. "Help?" he looked back as the moment anyone tried to help. The creature was gone with the girl. "That is magic beyond us....beyond our parents. Lixes." there was a tone to his voice. "We are going home. We can't do anything. We're still kids as far as anyone is concerned. Get back to Miqwe, we're leaving." He pointed past his brother to where he knew his beast was. His younger brother was not going to get himself hurt because he wanted to play hero.

Ikkio Post: 8 Location: with Nyx -------------------- Zumurundi's charge - reluctant, as frankly the bugman had been more frightening and disturbing than his mistress - came to nothing, his target gone. Ikkio's flame did not hit any mark at all, and Ikkio wished she could say she was disappointed. To be honest, though, she wasn't. There was chaos, drama, and a chance to let her magic crackle through her veins. And there had been a monster. The meeting hadn't been a colossal waste of time after all. "So, it took one of them taking an earthling from under everyones noses to find out what they were? Ha." Ikkio muttered. "Ironic, really."She looked at her new 'friend', smirking a little. "It's probably not coming back yet." she commented, offhand, "You aren't injured, are you?" That would be massively convenient - she could play with healing magic, too, and get Nyx ingratiated to her. That would be handy.

Lixes - Post 7 Lixes mismatched gaze was on the event going on in front of them, as the one that had been grabbed just... vanished along with the bug mage. It took him a few moments before he could actually hear his brother's voice over the sound of the blood rushing to his head. He turned slowly to look up at Drexl, starring up at him, before he said, "Huh? We are going home?" He looked a little confused before turning to look forward again. He supposed that what Drexl was saying did make sense. It was dangerous to deal with those things but at the same time he didn't like just running away. Wasn't that just him running away like a coward? Lifting a hand up he grasped hold of Drexl's arm a bit tightly and said, "I... yeah, we should go but... let's wait a little bit longer, just to see if the elders have anything else to say." Looking up at his brother he gave him the best smile he could muster and said, "I promise I will go home without protest after that. Okay?"

Nyxamora | 8 |Nyx squinted up at the impromptu stage, listening to the report Antiope gave. Bug mages? She’d never heard of them before, not once. How could it be that something as big as this was never confirmed to have existed before? Well, whatever the reason, all she could think was that these creatures were just plain stupid. They’d done a bang-up job of keeping themselves hidden from the rest of Tendaji for so long, and then they blow their cover by taking someone in a huge bloody crowd? Buncha’ morons. They deserved to be found out. They deserved a swift and decisive revenge.
And really, she was just miffed that it couldn’t be exacted right now, ruddy coward running away so quickly. So miffed that her response to Ikkio came with a very snappy tone attached to it, “NO. That would be pathetic; the s**t-bag didn’t even give me the chance to get hurt.” She huffed, rolling her shoulder with a distinctive crack as she side eyed the other girl, “So. You can do magic?” And then her gaze traveled down to Ikkio’s fingers, her tone a bit less strained, the usual coy interest seeping its way back in, “So can you make fire appear any time? That’d be sick.”

Drexl - Post 7 There was a long sigh. "Okay. We listen. Then leave. We're not strong enough yet little brother." he wrapped one arm around his sibling, bringing Lixes close. He didn't want to lose another sibling to some war they had no real stake in.

Ikkio Post: 9 Location: with Nyx -------------------- "Yep." Ikkio said, showing off a flicker of fire in her palm, pleased at the reaction. Zumurundi padded back to his mistress, sitting down in a huff. She pet him with her other hand, not wanting to, of course, burn him. "I have all sorts of magical tricks up my sleeves." Ikkio considered it for a moment, "We should really have a talk about our skills." she glanced at the person who was supposed to be looking out for her, now suitably distracted. "Elsewhere? Unless you think something ELSE interesting is going to happen." she said, smirking.

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
Antiope seemed to be shaken from her news, her realization that she had actually known of these creatures for a while, though never knew they could really have existed. With all of Tendaji explored, where could these creatures even hide?
Enlil was the pillar of calm that would wrap up the meeting. "We understand that everyone is frightened, or angry, or eager to find these things and put a stop to them. We want everyone to stay safe and use their reason. Travel in groups, stay within the villages, know where your families are intended to be. We have to keep those who are still with us, with us."
"We will be sending word to the others, no doubt we're not the only ones, and we will be reaching out to the alkidike." Yansa would know more hopefully, and they would possibly want to help in their endeavors since it did sound like it was their evils that was trickling into the earthlings' lives. "We will keep everyone informed with the state of affairs and how we intend to handle things, in the meantime, please, remain calm and don't be rash. We will get our people back." He lingered behind with the other elders after the meeting was dispersed. There was much to discuss and roles to assign. This meeting was only the beginning, that much Enki was sure of.
