Job Requirements

  xxxManagers must not be adverse to cooperative collaboration. You are expected to weigh in with opinions on shop developments and be able to work in a group setting.

  xxxYou will either need to have or be willing to quickly gain familiarity with all shop rules, requirements, lore, and NPCs. Hopefully all of the characters with journals, too!
  
• Activity
  xxxWe need someone who is not just around and overseeing things in the background but who can help generate thread activity when things are quiet as well.
  

Responsibilities
Our major concern at current is streamlining the character approval process and putting out critique in a timely manner. We hope that with someone dedicated to this particular subforum that questers will be able to receive staff crits that do not solely pertain to events won and thus can get their quest profiles approved for later acceptance through various events. This will also help ensure that all event wins are accepted quickly and efficiently.

As a Recruiting Manager, you will be expected to:

• Provide quest critique and answer shop related questions at staff or user request.
  
• Assist with writing, event planning, event running, and testing mechanics for shop functionality.
  
• Update odds and ends in the guild and front page, such as the Attendance gallery within the guild or setting up journals.
  
• Send out reminder PMs during the approval process of event-won characters, keep track of requested extensions, and issue warnings as necessary.
  
• Be willing to plot and engage others for roleplay. Please have fun and enjoy yourself!

Perks
Managerial staff at Mind Over Matter have the option of receiving a Teacher Assistant character. Teacher Assistants are Students that are packed with a little extra oomf! in that they get access to one more of their powers earlier than other students, are able to help Students and Campers directly with their studies, and serve as a medium between their peers and the staff. They also get access to the Staff Lounge, including the nice fancy coffee machine. Mmm!

At Majesco Psychic Academy, teacher assistants are assigned to or chosen by a specific instructor. They are on call to assist all faculty, as well as provide assistance to students (whether it be with scholastic or psychic courses) while dealing with their own classes and homework. They are very busy characters! TAs may help plan club events, proctor for tests, assist with committee projects (such as prom or field trips), and work at the school store. They are also the first ones approached when sign ups for student counselors open at Murmuring Pines.

• If you already have a STUDENT then you have the option of Upgrading to a Teacher Assistant OR creating a new character specifically for the position.
  
• If you have a CAMPER then you will create a new Student character specifically for the position.
  
• If you have NO CHARACTERS then congratulations, you just got one.
  
• If (somehow) you have NO OPEN CHARACTER SLOTS then you will have to Upgrade an existing Student or go without a Teacher Assistant. In this event we will negotiate with you for some sort of alternative (such as, perhaps, an animal NPC).
  
  New characters will take up one of the currently open character slots and will need to follow the usual process of critique and approval. They will also get a cute little blurb within the Faculty page that you get to write up yourself!

Payment
As stated previously, most of the work done at Mind Over Matter is non-profit. All paid raffles and auctions receive a 20% cut for managerial payment when they are available. This 20% is distributed evenly among all managers. This means payment will vary quite drastically. We are, however, working on implementing a points reward system for artists and managers to be able to earn other forms of payment through the work they put out but please bare in mind it is under heavy construction.

Past Experience: I worked at Mischief Mangaged as an RP manager/Event manager (I made this event and in here are some threads I made for the event. They are old, sorry). I worked at Tendaji as an event manager a long time ago and don't have a link to the few events I did. I worked at Fabula Carte:Redux as a manager, the event is not up anymore but I created the descriptions for these two. I was the co-owner and one of the creators of The Lost. I also have worked for a HTTYD shop as a manager, a Pern shop as a manager and a few other shops that didn't get far in the past. Those not linked are old and I don't have links anymore.

What do you like about the shop? Everything! The art is amazing, the theme is wonderful, and all of the staff so far have been so kind. Plus the fact that this place sometimes slows down but never gives up is nice as well, it's a rare and promising aspect in a shop.
Why do you want this position? I love this shop and to be able to help out and be a part of it would be amazing
What are your strengths/weaknesses in management? One of my strengths is how organized I am. I like lists. I think one of my weaknesses though might be time management, I tend to bite off more then I can chew at times, though I am getting better with this.
Suggestions for the shop: None really, although I do miss game streams! I also think it would be fun for us all to play online games together. I just feel like those of us that have stuck around are friendly enough to welcome others in games like that as well as strengthen our friendships.

Past Experience: Goodness I wouldn’t have the links anymore, but I've worked in plenty. Started out doing some minor organizational assistance in Geisha Dreams. Owned/co-owned a handful of shops over the years, including Oaxu, Shirabyoshi, Bathhouse of the Gods and Dragon Realms. I’ve helped out in even more shops over the years doing small things, including helping out here on occasion. I've done a lot of consulting in random shops throughout the years and my responsibilities have included...well, probably ever possible task you can have in B/C.

What do you like about the shop? Well for starters, the concept alone is enough to bring one in. But I really like the way the shop has So Many Fun Unique Things. And there’s always reason to participate, even if you’re not going for a kid, because arrowheads are so heavily implemented into things. So people aren’t left out a lot like they are in other shops. I love the people. Staff and owners both, it’s a shop full of people I enjoy being around. It’s just a really fun, positive place to be.
Why do you want this position? I’ve been wanting to work for the shop since it opened, and that hasn’t changed. It’s just something I enjoy being a part of as an owner and when I occasionally get to help out with things I really love it so I’d like to be able to do more.
What are your strengths/weaknesses in management? My strengths are definitely in organization and the like. I’m also pretty good with brainstorming ideas when I need to be. My biggest weakness is trying to get people to do things. I’m not much of a leader that way. But I'm getting a lot better at being more assertive when I need to be.
Suggestions for the shop: I think really it’s just getting the ball rolling again and having something, anything, happening to increase activity. If no events or classes or anything are happening soon, maybe at least throwing in some tiny in-thread games or streams or even just striking up conversation and trying to get some role plays going. Maybe offer up an ORP?

Tell us a little about your new Teacher Assistant. Just a short summary: With his ability to balance schoolwork and other responsibilities already being quite good, Sebastian would find no issue in adding TA responsibilities to the mix. However, he’s probably not the most approachable of assistants. Considering his appearance and his attitude, he seems an odd choice, but he gets the job done. He’s good at helping others, and knocks his other responsibilities out efficiently.
