Araie jumped up from her spot and hugged Dezani tightly before snapping her fingers, summing a small flame in her hand. "Woo! I promise we won't go too far, since I know you're worried about it. But doing something has to be better than just sitting around and doing absolutely nothing, right?" the Ice girl laughed as she started heading down towards the dark path. As much as she was curious to see just how far down and back this cave went, she swore to herself she wouldn't go that far. She could tell Dezani was slightly uncomfortable with the idea and she didn't want to make him unhappy. They would just go a little bit to satisfy her curiosity and then retreat back to safety.

Oh what had he gotten himself into? He was glad Araie was happy, but he was incredibly anxious about the whole thing. There were most likely unstable rocks or maybe something deadly in there. He was just sure of it. He didn't think himself a coward or anything. If they did happen to run into something dangerous he would be sure to take care of it, but he would rather just avoid the danger than go seeking it out like Araie seemed to want. At least he had Raiha to keep him company and fend off any unwanted creature.
"So what are you hoping to find in here, Araie?"

Araie shrugged as she slowly ventured down the winding path, stopping every once in a awhile to peer around the next corner or slope. It hadn't been a hard path to traverse by any means, but she was from Zena, the land of snow and rocks. She was used to fairly harsh traveling conditions.
"I don't know, to be perfectly honest. I'm not really looking for anything. I just like exploring my surroundings. I like finding pretty things so I can draw them later on. I've got tons of little scribbles in various journals of some of the fantastic sights I've seen on my journeys," Araie replied casually. The path was starting to slope more than it was before. She was going to need to either watch her step or decide to go back to the entrance fairly soon.

"You draw?" Dezani questioned, curious about her comment. He hadn't expected her to be the drawing type. Then again, he wasn't really sure what sort of type she seemed. While they had been friends for years now, he still felt like he knew almost nothing about her. He wanted to know her dreams, her wishes. What her plans were for the future. Yet here he was hung up on the fact that she liked to draw. He really was a hopeless being. All he had to do was ask what she thought of things. He was sure she would respond to it all.
"Do you think we should head back soon?" He continued to ask once he noticed the slope getting steeper. He would hate for one or both of them to slip and fall down it.

Araie perked up a little when she heard Dezani ask about her drawings. Nobody had asked her about her art...ever, really. Her brother had seen a few of her drawings and encouraged her to continue her art, but she was sure it had partly been to keep her from doing so many dangerous things. While she was nervous to show anybody anything she had done when it came to art, she trusted Dezani. She knew he wouldn't judge her, even though she was probably a terrible artist.
"Mhm. I love to draw. I'm not great at it, but I think it's fun. It's one the reasons I was drawn to rune magic in the first pla-" Araie's words were cut off when she missed her footings down the path as it had suddenly grown quite steep. She tumbled forward with a shout of surprise and pain as her shoulder connected with the hard ground. She reached out desperately to try to get a hold of something - anything - to help her regain some sense of stability. Finally, after what felt like terrifying minutes of falling, she managed to barely grab a large stalagmite that was sticking out of the ground. Unfortunately the pain in her arm was growing and she wasn't sure how much longer she was going to be able to hold on to it, and there was definitely no ground beneath her feet. She didn't know how far the next drop was, and she really didn't want to risk it. Gods above, she should have listened to Dezani and not gone to explore this cave. Now she was paying for it.

He should have listened to his gut instinct. Of course something like this would happen. Luckily being cautious had its perks sometimes. As soon as Araie slipped he was there, grabbing hold of her tightly and trying not to look down. If he didn't focus on what was below them everything would be fine. They would certainly make it out of this in one piece despite things being against them apparently.
"Hey, just look at me. Everything will be alright. Just focus on me," he tried to stay calm, despite his nerves being shaky. There would be no point in both of them freaking out and making things worse. Raiha tried her best to assist in pushing Araie up as he tugged until she was back onto stable ground.

Araie forced herself to look up at Dezani and grabbed his arm, ignoring the pain in her own arms as she tried to pull herself up. When they both finally struggled up back to solid land, she collapsed on top of him for a few moments before rolling over until she was staring up at the cave. Creating another small fire in her hands, she sheepishly looked over at her companion.
"Okay, so maybe you were right about not exploring the cave," Araie blushed. She hated being proven wrong, but what was she to do about it. Dezani had been right. Her impulsive behavior had almost gotten them both seriously hurt. She really needed to start thinking before she acted.

"It's no problem, really. And thanks to that little adventure I think we've spent enough time in here. Sounds like the winds have stopped for now. What do you say we continue forward, huh partner?" he smiled, leaning on his side to look at her. Despite everything and the danger that could have been much more severe, he had enjoyed their little exploration of the cave. His only regret was that she had fallen in the first place thanks to him not paying attention.
"I'm sure Raiha is anxious to get out as well. This small cave can't be comfortable for her growing kinfa self."

The Ice girl nodded and sat up, shaking her hair out of her face. She stood up slowly and gently rolled her arm, wincing somewhat as she did so. Oh, that wasn't good. She would have to find a healer or something whenever they stopped next to get her shoulder fixed. The last thing she wanted was to suffer any lasting damage because of this.
"Probably a good plan. And thanks for the help back there. I don't know what I would do without you," Araie laughed as she brushed past Dezani to head back to the main cave entrance. Even if it had been a lot shorter and more dangerous than she expected, she couldn't argue that it had been yet another adventure to add to her list of experiences. And any adventure she shared with Dezani was bound to be a good memory anyway.
