Today was a little different for Milk.

Normally she was following Izzy around like a second shadow but he had a few errands to run. Boring errands. So Milk decided to play at the park instead. Because watching Izzy talk to the landlord about rent—whatever that was—wasn’t ever any fun so the park across the street was fine. It was more than fine, it was perfect. So she hurried over to the park and looked about excitedly, wondering where to start first.

She quickly walked over to the jungle gym and began to climb on it happily, two arms holding her steady while the other two worked on finding the next bar to pull herself up onto. Now settled on the top, Milk paused. Uh-oh. She was stuck and Izzy wasn’t here to save her!

Mihiil was off in the park with an inexpensive little easel and some paints and brushes, trying to paint the jungle gym. He was good at getting soft tones, but not harder, crisper tones, like the Jungle Gym against the rest of the park. He wanted to work on that.

Trying something new in painting was something he wanted, and he wanted to do it without his sister around... because that was the point of Art Therapy. He wasn't quite ready to do living subjects but he took a break from trying to make the colors stop blending into a shade of oddly icky bluegreen to draw crappy gesture drawings in his sketchbook of the probably-a-manifest that began to play on it. Her four arms were a challenge to capture, so he expected some praise when he showed them to the teacher-therapist dude.

He was quite pleased with his efforts, and went to look at her position. She was on top and... wasn't moving? He cocked his head. Was she okay? "Hey!" the Desire manifest called out, "Having fun?"

This was a little too high for her tastes. That was what kept Milk frozen atop the jungle gym. She hadn’t realized how high it was until she was perched on top and by then it was far too late to really do anything about that. Izzy was busy and he was her only real hero in a situation like this. She could already feel warm tears welling up in her eyes, two hands moving to wipe at them as they began to roll down her face. Her other two hands worked on holding her in place on top of the obstacle she had climbed—no desire to fall off of it, of course.

Milk’s wings and tail drooped low as she sniffled and looked over to the person that called out to her. A stranger. But a stranger may be able to help her off of here at the very least. Or go get Izzy to save her. “D-Down!” she said with a soft wail. “Want down…!” she wiggled atop the jungle gym, looking about frantically for a magic means down. There was none.

Mint colored eyes instantly flicked back to the male in the park, pleading for him to help. “Help, pwease!”

Ooo, looks like i didn't quote you right all those months ago... I'm sorry.

Mihiil frowned. "Are you okay up there?" he asked, putting down his sketchbook and getting up.

Down. She wanted down. She wanted help.

She wants things.

Well yes, but that had nothing to do with his manifestation. A kid needed help, and he was there, and nobody else was helping her.

"I'm coming!" he said, walking over, speeding up as he perceived her distress. "Hold on, okay?"

The Preteen stood underneath the set, holding out his arms. It didn't escape his notice that he had wanted something - to help this kid - and he was doing something - actively doing something - on his own to help them. Without his sister, and without prompting.

Hey.

Whoa.

This therapy thing was working.

"It's okay!" he said, feeling very proud of himself, "I'm gonna help you."

Being up here was so scary. Milk didn’t know what to do with herself other than cry and give soft wails to signal her distress. Playing at the park had been a good idea and everything had been going well—she had focused enough to climb a little faster this time than she had before. But now? Now she was stuck.

Or maybe she wouldn’t be. Someone came hurrying over to aid her. Granted it was someone she didn’t know but getting down was all that really mattered at this point. Milk wanted her feet back on the ground where they belonged.

Sniffling, Milk wiped at her eyes again to clear the tears away so she could look down at the boy beneath the jungle gym, the hands that had been wiping at her tears moving to help hold her still.
He said he was going to help her…but how?

“D…down…” the small manifest whimpered again as she looked at the other. This guy looked like he was nice—even for a stranger—so she was going to put all her hope in him to help her down. Even if she wasn’t sure how he’d help her down as of yet, not with how she was rooted at the top. It wasn’t like she could reach him either. Her arms weren’t long enough for that, unfortunately.

One hand dared to move and making a grabby-hand-type motion at the other youth.

He was just maybe barely tall enough to reach her, if he stood up on his tiptoes and tried. ”It's okay!” he said, reaching for her, ”I've got you!” and he nearly did as she reached for him, ”I'm right here, okay?” he said, ”I won't let you fall!”

        “O…Otay.”

If anything, Milk didn’t want to fall. The thought alone nearly petrified her but she was willing to put her trust in this stranger in order to get down. So as he reached up towards her, Milk gradually leaned down and stretched out three of her arms towards him. After a moment the fourth let go and she tumbled off the jungle gym and down into his arms, eyes clenched shut as she hoped to be caught and not hit the ground.

Mihiil managed to get a hold of her, and with one hold came better traction and it was enough to manage to catch the girl. His knees bent, taking the brunt of her fall. ”Whoa!” he exclaimed. She was lighter than he had expected. ”I got ya!” he said, triumphant, grinning down at her, ”How are you doing?”

The feeling of falling was a frightening one to be sure, but all that fear turned into such joyous relief when Milk realized she didn’t hit the ground. What she had hit was the person that said they’d help get her down. Slowly she looked up at the young man, all four of her hands fisted into his clothes, not daring to let go just yet. “O…otay…I o-otay.” Milk spoke, one hand reluctantly letting go of the other’s clothes to wipe at her face a little. “T-Tank you.”

Mihiil smiled. ”Well, good!” he said, helping her get down to the ground gently, ”My name's Mihiil” he said. He wanted to be friendly, after all. ”What's yours? Are you a manifest?"

As she was placed on the ground, Milk relaxed considerably. It was good to have her feet on the ground once more. Looking up at Mihiil now, she tilted her head slightly as he spoke. "Milk." the small manifest put two of her hands on her chest as she said her name, the other two hands played absently with her dress. "Mm! I'm a manifwest." she nodded happily. Mihiil was a little scary at first but he had helped her down and talking like this showed he wasn't so bad.

Hey, in a city like this, one never knew.

“Oh wow!” he said. Enthusiasm did not come easily to him, but his therapist said that he should fake it until he made it, so... well... There. It wasn't as though he didn't want to be enthusisatic. His sister had just always done that and been that for him... but they were working on those things. The both of them. “I'm a manifest too!”

He held out a hand, “Do you have a guardian?” he asked – she was a little bitty manifest, a hatchling like him, so she needed to have someone around...? Right?
