As Roland gestured to an empty table, Athena quietly listened and fussed with the tips of her hair. Naturally upon feeling her beloveds grip, she gave him a shy smile and followed, surprised at how quickly the crowd seemed to move out of the way as they passed. Once at the table, she looked to where Esther had spoken up, taking note of the two men. "Should the pair be up to no good, there are plenty of guards and witnesses about. Don't be so concerned with them, but if you would feel safer, keep your wits about you. Besides Esther, this is a festival, it is meant to be enjoyed and not scrutinized at every turn." She murmured before looking to her very soon to be husband and smiling. "Plus our company wouldn't stand to see either of us harmed." |

Roland really did have a charm to him. Dixon remembered in that moment just what it was that first drew his ire and then admiration to the princely man: this marching persona: Charisma. He found it easier to walk in line with them than to fuss, but he couldn't be bothered to jump in on criticising Esther's criticism of the setup--
...However, he was aware of his own state as well. It couldn't be said how or why--at least not from their points of view, but the count-who-was-king seemed to know the feelings of those in his party with a chillingly exact science: the guards wouldn't stir without brushing his coattails; the baroness couldn't speak but to sooth his weary mind--and it would be even better to say that he had learned to make, at least of his men, hands and eyes to gather the world up into one great but manageable pile before him--and so he sat himself at the edge of a table without giving the matter another thought. He always had a knowing smile on in times like this, perhaps a reflex to stress developed over time.
The rest of them were seated in turn, following their king’s lead. He gestured quickly to the seats nearest himself for the others. From left to right--Baroness Drosslymyer, an unnamed leader of his guard, Princess Athena, and the councilman Roland Bellris--in a trapizoid kind of shape near the head of the table. “I see no point in beating around the bush,” he began with a coolness in his voice. “We should discuss border secuity. I’m not sure what decisions have been made in your council, but have reason to suspect that ours are being treated with hostility at the border of Titania and your country.” He glanced to the princess. “This seems to be the case in other areas as well.”
