Okay! You know, over the years I've learned a lot as a roleplayer... A lot. Things that will make you face palm, and things that will make you think about it... So... I'm, being as cool as I am ^.^, going to make a "tutorial" or what to do and what not to do while RolePlaying ^.^ Thank me later.

What to expect
Now in this thread you can expect many things. Mainly... Laughs... This will be perhaps the most sarcastic guide you've come across. I can be very snide when I want to be, and it's mainly because I've seen posts like: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╔══════════════╗ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"Chloe laffed and snngugled close." xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╚══════════════╝... No joke... I'll go into what's wrong with that later.... So! What you can expect:
xxxxxxxxxxxxx♈ First off, you can expect, like I said, laughter. I'll be sharing some embarrassing stories. I hope you PM me some funny ones too. If you'd like them to be anonymous I can put that as well ^.^
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx♉Another thing will be me mercilessly pointing out mistakes RPers(Including I.) usually make. You might find yourself in this bunch, but please don't get offended... I'm certainly not pointing anyone out with this thread. No, I will not be naming names... That's childish and uncalled for. The only time you'll see names is when they want their story to be told. That or fake names I'll use to bash noobs.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx♌I'll have more, but this is the last thing I can think of... Instruction... I'll instruct you on how you better yourself as a roleplayer. I've been doing this for two years, give or take... In fact, my first post was: May 17, 2009. How do I know this? I'm still subscribed to my first roleplay, just to see how shitty I was XD... I torture myself.
Now on to the chaos!

Funny Stories We all have them... Those embarrassing roleplay stories, you'd rather forget. However, let's just bring them here, and laugh about them. I'll quote you in you're epic fails, unless you tell me you want it anonymous. So send me your stories, and be NES famous ^.^ Please stick to the rules. --- First story:
Kaiya Hytoshi: It was my first roleplay, and meant to put "She popped the pill into her mouth." ... However, I didn't check, and you can guess what I put... "She pooped the pill into her mouth." redface Yeah fail! I could've died!
-
Derosrabidfangirl: Well, once I was in a roleplay with my cousin, and the two of us split up all the characters that we wanted to be involved (it was a fanfiction roleplay). Our lists had about 50 to 100 characters each. Well, to put it simply, my first post ended with this:
"Aido, Axel, Ayame, Bella, Caramine, Crimson, Thorn, Edward, Elk, Epros, Ernest, Etna, Fai, Hiyori, James, Kamui, Kaname, Kon, Larxene, Lavender, Lyserg, Max, Mello, Misa, Ranmaru, Reaves, Shin, Shinji, Tobi, Zero, Sarutobi, Light, Menoly, someone who's name I forgot, Kakashi, Pride, Greed, Jirobou, Jesse, Sakura, Batman, Aizen, Father Luke, Lexaus, Zexion, Tayuya, Ukon, Ichigo, Rukia, Renji, Ikkaku, Alice, Jasper, Ed, Ulquiorra, Momiji, Kyo, Topaz, Lance, Kisuke, Loly, Nobu, Yuki, Akito, Hatsuharu, Rin, Wallace, Hank, Copper, Kurogane, Roxas, Pein, Konan, Sai, Scarlet, Deidra, Schil, Kurama, Uryu, Kimimaro, Yuki, Yellow, Blue, Orihime, Subaru, and Beige were on the plane with the other contestants. "
Yes. I put that into a roleplay. xD;;
To make it worse, I kept copy and pasting the beginning and just put *timeskip* between the first few and last for the next several posts! And then, I decided I wanted more characters. How did I do it?
"All of a sudden, seven people magically appeared on the plane."
To solve the problem, I made the plane crash and kill everyone except the few that I wanted to roleplay with from then on.
In another roleplay with the same person, also a fanfiction, three characters were outside, and a group was in the hall. One left the group, heading towards the office right around the corner. In the time it takes her to travel 40 feet at the longest, there was time for the three outside to spraypaint the wall, come inside, enter the office, search for and steal bandaids, put them on, and get out. The worst thing was, we noticed this only several posts later.

Stella_V: Ohmygoodness. So, I have no idea what was going on through my head. Maybe it was the other person's illiteracy, the fact that he was a dude playing a girl in a yuri guild*, completely fudged up the setting, or the character was a duche(I could seriously make a list or what irked me at that time), or the pure fact that I was tired. ANYWHO, I decided to, out of random, make my character throw a suitcase at her and say it broke her leg. Yes you heard me right. Craziest idea I made, especially when I first started rp'ing. Lesson? Um... make sure to keep your emotions out of rping. LOL I dunno. I'd just thought that it woul be a good story to share.
(*I am very fickle when it comes to boys playing Lesbian girls. Especially when they're illiterate, because its obvious of what they want to get out of the rp)

°Typos-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx We'll talk about this first ^.^ Okay, this is probably one of my pet peeves... Because I do it all that time! I absolutely loathe typos. I don't want to see them, nor do I want to type them... So You remember?:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╔══════════════╗ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"Chloe laffed and snngugled close." xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╚══════════════╝
Well, I've seen something almost exactly like this... Now what's wrong with this? Well, sir that is certainly not how you spell "laughed" or "snuggled". stare
If Kaiya's needs are not met she will turn rabid... Just sayin'.
Now come on, how hard is it to proof read? I understand if you have to get off the computer right after you post, but even then... I'm assuming you get on sometime after that, yes? You should scan your posts for typos. Trust me, it will give you something to do on those boring days. It will also make your more vicious roleplay partners not skin you ^.^
So kiddies, what did we learn? Proof read the hell out of those posts! Also, If you're not the best speller in the world, use spell check. Use Internet Explorer? Then you don't have spell check last time I checked. I personally don't like IE at all, and recommend either the of the first two in the following list(They're internet browsers.).
Found on: -Firefox -Google Chrome -Microsoft Word -Open Office and more...
So that's all for typos... I hope you enjoyed it, as it was my first post. I might come back to edit this, but I'll tell you in the OOC if I do ^.^

°One-liners-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Okay... One-liners are unacceptable. I don't care how "literate" of a roleplayer you are... You can at least write four-five(That's a paragraph! -Le gasp!.-) well written sentences. Honestly... There's nothing I hate more than going into a roleplay and seeing-And here it comes again:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╔══════════════╗ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"Chloe laffed and snngugled close." xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╚══════════════╝
That's probably the last time I'll bring it into this forum, however, I said I would dissect it like a frog. So... Now what's wrong with this post? Other than what I've already pointed out? Anyone?... Okay, leave it to me then... It's crap. One-liners deserve death... The post not the person, unless that's all they spew out... Then Kaiya will find them... Anyways, how is the person supposed to react? "Mark held her close to him, and smiled as well. She was very pretty...- Blah, blah, blah- Grab me a barf bag, because this poor soul would have to carry the roleplay between the two.
Fun fact: It makes it extremely hard to post back to "He smiled and waved."
Don't do it! Especially if you want to keep a roleplay going, and interesting. People will thank you for not being a noob ^.^ Trust me I've left a roleplay, because guy posted nothing but one-liners... Story time? I was in a zombie roleplay, and was putting up with this boy's one-liners, because, well... It's zombies! Also it was only like my fourth roleplay, so I was thinking maybe he would get out of it. Well... He didn't... I would post a paragraph-Surprising I could get that out of what he was posting, and that would hold some detail as you all know... He would respond with "He looked over at Nevaeh, "C'mon I have a safe place"... I would have to ask him politely in OOC to respond to my questions, or what-not that my character asked... It was very annoying, because sometimes I had a hard time posting, not knowing if I was going to make a mistake or not. The final straw was when I turned his two sentence post into a four paragraph response... I hoping to get at least a paragraph... Do you know what I received? Seven words. Words.... Needless to say, I immediately unsubscribed, and left that roleplay. I probably should've told him I was leaving, because he kept PMing me... =/ Anyway, the moral of that story is... No one-liners! They are the most annoying thing to deal with in roleplaying since powdered milk... I mean seriously... Who invented that stuff, I've never even used?!?!? ^.^ Writers block? No excuses! scream You can easily get a paragraph into your posts, by doing the following:
-Adding detail. Whether it's your character's past, a certain way they do things, or the room they are in, detail fills a post like you wouldn't believe. However, don't go overboard, and bore your partner(s)!
-Paying attention your partner(s)' posts. Always, always pay attention you what's going on around you. Same with role playing. If the person your roleplaying with says or does something you can/should interact with this will help steer you away from one-liners. It also keeps them from getting irritated that you ignored a certain part of their post. Plus the confusion will stay at a minimum... Confusion is bad... BAD!!!!
-Interacting with loners. If you're really having a hard time... Go make an excuse to find a loner, and using the two strategies above... You should have a lengthy post. Make sure they are posting first! This also helps to get everyone involved... No one likes to be left out =/
-Make NPCs NPCs are the biggest scapegoat in roleplay history. We use them for a number of things. It just so happens, post length is one of them. Make up a NPC, and do what you wish with them... However, abide by the RP rules, guild rules, TOS, ect. Otherwise... You get banned rather quickly.
So... Really, no more one-liners!!! Kaiya will hunt you down, and it won't be pretty!!!

°Activity-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Okay here's the thing... We all have lives... Don't say you don't, because then your words will bite you in the a**, and the five roleplays you signed up for will have to be put on hold. Anyway... Activity... Don't you hate it when you posted the same day as someone else, and you're then put to the terrible task of waiting for so and so days? Don't put someone through that. Post that day if you can, if not the next... If that's not going to work... OoC[Out of Character] your fellow RP members, telling them you might be absent for so-so days... It happens... Like I said, we all have lives. However, not posting simply because you're too lazy is not an excuse. It makes your RP partners angry, and sometimes causes an awesome RP to die. So... This isn't a very long post for a "tutorial/guide" thing, but... There's not much to say... Except... Lazy RPers will have a Kaiya on their tails, twisting their arms to post... Ask anyone I've RPed with... =] I get vicious. Now, don't badger someone to the point of them not wanting to post at all anymore either. Give them time to post. After two days, then you can ask them where their post is, and what-not... Blah, blah... Point is... Post in a timely fashion, tell people when you can't, don't badger people too much-too soon to post... We good? Good! Now go update those posts stare

°God-Modding-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Wow.... Don't get me started. Honestly, I've been a bad little God-Modder. T.T I didn't know what I was doing, it was my second RP, and in my first one we sorta... Auto-Hit DX So I thought auto-hitting was okay. That being said, I made another RP(The first I'd ever made.), and was a filthy little god-modder! DX My friends did tell me what I was doing wrong though. So point is, only auto-hit if you have permission... Otherwise it make people very angry. Honestly, I don't mind simple auto-hits(As long as they don't go too far.), just expect them back. There's not much to put here, but do not god-mod!!!! stare
