What is prayer? How do we pray? When is prayer performed?

I think prayer can be formal or informal. I have just outright talked to God before without all the formalities before. They're not really required. But Jesus did say to ask all things in His name and that God's will be done.

I love this biggrin . There is so much wisdom and love in this answer. I really do hope to hear some more responses from others.

I'm not a gnostic, or christian as such.
I go directly to the one, and by now, i'm always informal, unless i feel it is somehow .. proper, to be more formal.

I used to be more formal, but somhow, i got the impression that formality is not needed.
... But as i see it, some other people may need the formality, and in those cases, it may be proper with formality.

It is a bit like "when in Rome, do as the romans".
This is not because God needs it, but because the "romans" may need it.

What is prayer? ~ Talking to God; a journal entry or a song can probably count too.

How do we pray? ~ For me it depends. Sometimes I do it formally, but more often I'll just spontanously say something to Him. The other day I was waiting for my ride home, and I thought "I'm hungry", and a friend showed up and shared her chips with me. x3 I think even that can bve considered a prayer.

When is prayer performed? ~ Whenever. Before meals and in the morning is good, but I really don't think there's ever a time not to pray.

I'll share my thoughts.

What is prayer?
Communion with God.

How do we pray?
Don't do it for show or when you feel you are obliged to do it. Formal or informal prayer is fine just don't babble words or phrases you don't personally understand. (didn't think about the formal or informal part thanks for bring that up guys)

When is prayer performed?
Whenever you are communing with God in whatever way you do.
