The problem with quality versus quantity is that...well, tis difficult to have BOTH. People can host a Guild that has uber-f*ckteen-tonnage of members...who post random, solipsistic blatherings about nothing much. That's a social-type guild.
When a Guild like the GML is looking for at LEAST semi-literate RPers who really want to play and are willing to put for the the effort to evolve into GOOD RPers...well, you're looking for more diamonds-in-the-rough than just your run of the mill/could give a sh*t Joe/Jane. Wanting *Quality* tends to keep numbers down by the simple law of averages.
One also has to take into account that online interest from people is a fickle variable: too many people these days require themselves to be the focal point of anything. Once they stop feeling like they're the star, they beat feet. Thusly, you have attrition.
Again, I understand this paradigm: those who are willing to put forth effort, work with others as a team to some extent, and have a mentality beyond a 'live for today and myself!' are more likely to find a better fit here.
Well...and those who want good RP with a militant theme. wink
Just my 10 cents-worth.

Yeah, I know all that. But still, doesn't change the fact that the more people you have here, the more likely you'll be to find more people to stay here.
