I miss jason personally i think he was great but jeez... he was just a metallica fan that played bass and he had the opportunity to play with metallica.. lucky.. then in one mag i read he said he quit kuz his neck hurt then he joined some band called echobrain and idk what hes doin now. cliff was awesome but this poll aint about him its about rob and jason which one do you like best?

okay, 1.Cliff, had most skill, awesome back up vocals, was a good song writer, he was god with a bass,
2. jason, not understood, metallica didnt let him use his full potential, so great on bass, bass tracks for justice is AMAZING and hellish backup vocals so great.
3.Rob, has skill, hes good i like him but not good vocals
to me, 1.cliff 2. jason. 3. rob. but there all good

i kno cliff was ******** nutz awesome! and the solo that jason did during uhh.. what was it.. idk remember.. but i heard a solo that jason did during one of their concerts and it was pretty kick a**. but cliff was definately better than both.

Jason quit because Metallica did not want him doing side projects, like echo brain, which FYI he started, and is still in, nobody is pissed at anyone, or nothing, also 1.CLIFF 2.rob 3. jason

Me and My Bass teacher actually had a debate about this. But he said that Robert is possibly the best bass player that Metallica had. While I said that Cliff was.
But heres my summery:
Cliff(R.I.P): He had tallent, It was used well, he was gifted.
Jason: He was cool, He had a lot of talent that was wasted, But he was a hella bass player.
Robert: Is a Spider/Ape/Crab thing. He's good, Fast, Funky. But Not really what Metallica needs. No Offence to Robert Lovers, He's more of a Funk guy, The bass tracks that I have listened to are all Funk rock, So, Yeah, I have to go with Jason.

Totally cannot make up my mind. I mean, both of them bring/brought so much to the band. Don't deny it, you can hear it. 3nodding In my own opinion, it shouldn't really be decided by who you like. It should be their final product. Having said all of that, I love all three of them. (Though I am sort of partial to Cliff sweatdrop heart ) Out of the two in consideration, I would have to say Rob... I like the tone of fingers more than picks on a bass.
