So I was just invited to this guild, and I have a lot of input, but Im reflecting upon my own choices in fashion, and it's a bit bland of an outlook. Im somewhat of a grungy, punkish looking dresser. I have a small frame, for my height of 5 ft 7 in. I only weigh 130ish lbs, and have somewhat of a boyish look, due to a lack of curves, as well as a lack of confidence.
I thought I would bring this up in a double-type of topic, so here is question 1:
-What is your signature look/style? Do you have a special item, or kind of fashion you gravitate towards?
-Can you help me update my look? Im stuck in a sort of 90's grunge era, with chucks, shredded boyfriend denim, and t shirts. I rarely wear makeup. Any reccommendations based on trends, stores and the like would be fantastic. 3nodding
Thank you in advance heart

Thanks for joining us!

I like to let my clothing items stand for themselves. I buy solid neutrals with interesting shapes (and a few bright colors or cool patterns here and there) and pair them with basics and feminine accessories.

I am also thin and pretty much curveless -- 5'9" / approx. 110 lbs. -- so I love layering and wearing flowing garments.

Fabric choice is also an important thing to think about, which is something that I did not do until the past year. Buying edgy items made with feminine fabrics can make an outfit more exciting and fun to wear.

Throughout the years, I have had a hard time finding my style. Even though I am still unsure some days, I have learned to buy things that I like and that will flatter me.

Femine clothing I have, accessories I don't. Trouble is, i don't have much of either.

Im thinking of getting some layering pieces, some necklaces, and black ankle boots. There's also a pink coat at target I adore, even though pink is way out of my comfort zone, it's only $30 and I really really want it.

Are there any good places for retro/vintage-looking costume jewelry, other than Charlotte Russe? I find the quality of the pieces there to be sub-par, at best.

If you like Charlotte Russe's accessories, but dislike the price you pay for the quality, I suggest Forever 21. While the quality is still the same, you pay next to nothing for most of their items (especially online -- I got a package of three waist belts for $3, and their headbands and jewelry are just as cheap!).

Most of my good vintage jewelry has come from family (I love brooches) and Goodwill. I found a gorgeous butterfly brooch there that looked like it was made of poppy flowers, and there are almost always some cool necklaces and bangles to be snatched up.

Sorry it's been so long... sweatdrop
But yeah, I got a long gold necklace for like $2 at the local goodwill, it's got a cool pendant on it. :3 I wear it with just about anything...
Im working on a more unique style, where everything is cohesive, but it's sort of a hybrid of girly and casual.
I bought a fantastic coat at Burlington today for twenty dollars. Its a grey and white plaid pattern thinner coat, double-breated with a wide collar and a tie belt at the waist. Probably the most feminine coat i own. ^^ Im very happy with it.
