((Perhaps reviving an old roleplay will help revive the guild a bit. Also, sorry it's so long. I'll try and keep posts short in the future.))
VRRRRROOOOOOM! The few pedestrians turned their heads and looked before swearing silently or making a mental note to keep the doors locked as the rarely seen, but easily recognizable muscle car roared past them. The black Chrysler Imperial and green headlights of the Black Beauty meant one thing. The Green Hornet and Kato were back in Gotham city. That wasnt necessarily a direct threat to them, but he only came around if something big was going down and he wanted in on it. Very rarely did the Hornet venture out of Century City but if the stakes were big enough, than he would want a piece of the action. It would never be quiet and it never ended well, especially for Gotham's local crime bosses and the battles were all over the news by morning. It always ended with the local crime bosses and their minions tied up and left for Batman and the Gotham Police to find.
As far as the Hornet and the Dark Knight, they had crossed paths numerous times and had come to a draw each time. The Green Hornet and Kato were always careful to avoid the Caped Crusaders, and when they did tangle, would try to get out without harming Batman or the Boy Wonder. Even if Batman, especially early on, didnt know that they were, the two were always fighting on the same team. After the last few trips to Gotham, the Hornet and Kato were beginning to wonder if Batman wasnt suspicious of their true motives. He figured that Gotham's protector would wonder how he always came into Gotham when a big deal was going down and leave empty handed except for some badly beaten and tied up criminals. Those suspicions would have to wait. Tonight, the Hornet and his chauffeur had work to do.
He got the tip as his alter ego, Britt Ried, a few days ago from his police reporter, Mike Axford. Something about a big meeting of Gotham's families and super villains (those NOT in Arkham Asylum anyways) to "clean the streets of the city's greatest menace. A green mask and a few aggressive trips to Century City's underground and he had a lead. Something about a meeting at a residential address and the job. They were planning to kill Batman. Gotham needed their Bat even more the Century needed her Hornet. This plan had to be stopped and the Green Hornet figured he could easily do it from the inside. Besides, Batman had helped him bring down more than one crime family that tried to control both Century City and Gotham even if the Bat didnt know it. It was time to return the favor. Besides, Britt hadnt seen his childhood friend Bruce Wayne in quite some time and he enjoyed catching up.
"Ok Kato, we're getting close. Activate the Hornet Scanner", The Hornet said as his masked partner flipped a switch, sending the small scanner soaring into the night sky. Leaning forward, he flipped a switch just as the scanner uploaded a map of the city. The scanner "blipped" as it highlighted red silhouettes of an unusually large number of guards patrolling the compound. His intell was right. Whatever was going down was huge.
"Hm..." he hummed as he also noted a small number of figures creeping closer to the house and what looked like one flying nearby. There was also one on the roof of the house but he couldnt make any of them out from silhouette. Some could be villains or fellow heroes. He clicked the screen off as the scanner returned to the trunk of the classic car.
Kato slowed the Black Beauty down as they turned onto the street leading to the house. As his Asian friend reached for the door, Britt put a hand on his shoulder.
"We need to be careful. I counted at last 30 guards around the house. There's something else. We arent alone out here. There are a couple other people nearby. One is flying nearby and one is on the roof. I figure the one on the roof is a hero like us but i dont know for sure and cant guess at the other two. One may even be Batman himself or one of his allies. I dont figure much happens in this city that he doesnt know about. If something happens we get dont stick around unless another hero needs us. We arent here to fight tonight. Just gather information."
"You got it boss, but why didnt we talk about it outside?"
"Because, I dont want any of their goons to hear us and know what we are really up too. This mission is of vital importance and besides, we have a reputation to uphold. No one could hear us unless they had a listening device trained on us or were a superhuman with super hearing."
"Like Superman or Serenity?"
"Yes, but Superman is busy in Metropolis and I havent heard any reports of Serenity being in Gotham. All in all lets play this safe. Dont want any good guys getting hurt if we can avoid it."
"Right."
"Hornet Stinger, check. Hornet gun, check. Ok Kato, lets roll", The Green Hornet replied as he checked the sonic rod and inserted a magazine of hornet gas into the gas gun.
The got out and worked their way past the gate, avoiding detection. They paused at the bushes near the porch as a group of guards patrolled by. A pair of darts took care of the two henchmen by the door. Kato played look out as Reid tried the door. Noting the lock, he pulled out the small tube and extended the Hornet stinger and blew out the lock as they burst through the door into what appeared to be a meeting just starting.
Hornet Gassed one henchman that came bursting in from the next room while Kato deftly took out three that were drawing weapons and coming out of their corners. One of the bosses drew a pistol and tried to stand but sat down as he ended up looking at the end of the Hornet Stinger, remembering what it did to the door's lock.
"Most of you should already know who I am. I am the Green Hornet. Before you ask the obvious next question. What Im doing here is I know what you are planning and I want in. Nothing happens in these cities that I dont know about. Ive been content to leave Gotham fairly well to its own devices, but a game with stakes as high as this one?" he asked as he walked around the room. He stopped infront of Kato and looked up quickly with his eyes. Nothing was said but the message was clear and Kato understood. Watch the skylight. The Green Hornet didnt want their visitor crashing in before he got the information he needed and earned their trust. He could handle the bosses and minions if need be. He turned back to the Mobsters watching him.
"That, gentlemen, I cant ignore. I have to applaud your ambition, but many have tried to KILL BATMAN before. What makes you think you'll succeed? Who all do you even have involved? Do you even have a plan?" He placed a heavy emphasis on the "kill Batman" part in the hopes that the unseen spy would hear. If they were a fellow crimefighter, then they would likely have a better chance of warning Batman and Robin of their scheme then the Hornet would. He leaned forward on the table and eyed each mobster in the eyes through his mask as he waited for their reply.
