yeah, no way! Only in the "wise one's" dream did they come off...it would be kinda cute if they did though rolleyes

No no wait, Ah know what happened~!
Ah fell asleep in Miss Yukari's class because I was thinkin' about Chiyo-chan's pigtails (ep.3?) and Yukari's lessons were boring at the time anyway...
So Ah had a revelation or one 'o them epiphanies... no no wait, Ah think it's a hypothesis. So in mah dream Ah figured Chiyo-chan's pigtails were A.) connected and directly linked and B.) detachable. Then Ah thought about what it'd be lahke if Chiyo-chan got new pigtails for a present. Then Miss Yukari woke me up and threatened to hit me with her lesson plan! Wait, that mighta been some other dream Ah had, but... she did wake me up...
The second time Chiyo-chan's pigtails fell off was in mah New Year's Dream. Ah had to fly far far away~~~ that was so scareh, Ah dun' really wanna talk about it crying

Yeah, they're not detachable. When she gets the new pigtails, that was a dream. You also see her with putting up her hair(and it's still down) on the very last episode. Then she puts them up. xp

I believe you also see her brushing her hair while it's down during part of the chiyo chan episode

I don't know about the real chiyo-chan but the pigtails on my chiyo-chan action figure are now, sadly, detached.
