This wasn't fun anymore, Iamie decided, as the girl began to send out her tendrils. She was hurting his friends, even if he didn't know the birdie very well, and she had done something to the Tech, and now he was hanging from the ceiling and not moving. That was bad.
He snarled, and darted towards the girl, slashing at the tendrils with his claws. "Stop it!" he yelled. "Stop it! Let him go!"

He could hear...something. Someone? His earlier struggling had drove the spiny tendrils deeper- not deep enough to be too damaging, but deep enough to graze, to numb him up a little and make it harder to fight and think clearly. Pinned on the ground, the best he could do was try to pull his wings around him like a shield. The movement wasn't very effective, especially in the case of his gimpy wing. He tried to twist to see who was coming over now, but the edge of his hood was in his peripheral vision, and without being able to turn much, identifying the new approacher was hard.
He heard the footsteps before the voice. He was good at hearing things (even things he didn't much want to hear...like the sickening, squelching crunch-pop the threads made when they'd gored the ex-techie).
It was...one of the kids from earlier? Oh...but it was dangerous over here! Even the grown-up hadn't been able to help. He wriggled ineffectually, wincing as the tendrils cut at still-exposed hands and feet.
Hurt. It hurt. "Hurts...g-go...! he said. He wasn't good with other kids, but it didn't mean he wanted them to get hurt too.

Iamie paused, as the other boy responded, his ears twitching. "Can't," he responded, glancing around the room. The tendrils had spread, forming a sort of web, and there was no place to go, no place where he could hide. "No place to go."
Still, he had yet to be entangled by the tendrils, and even if he thought he could get out, he wouldn't. He couldn't leave the other boy there. That wouldn't be nice. Not if he could help.

The moment his claws touched the wall of threads, they reacted as if electrified, weaving together to protect the girl within. Still more rose up menacingly, ready to strike at the fox boy.

Iamie jumped back as the threads moved, yelping in surprise. "Stop!" he yelled again. "We're friends. Not enemies. Not supposed to hurt!"
He wasn't sure if the girl could even hear him, or if she could even understand. He hadn't met her before, and it seemed like she wasn't in control of her powers. Why else would she be attacking them? They hadn't done anything to her.
"Is kay," he said, softer, moving over towards where Brokenwing was imprisoned. He knew that he wouldn't be good if he tried to attack her, the tendrils seemed to have a mind of their own, but maybe they would let him help out the other boy.

With every syllable the boy shouted, the threads rose higher, poising themselves like writhing snakes ready to strike. One more word and Sandfox wouldn't have made it, but the threads began to relax as soon as he switched to a softer voice.
