Waren_Leon If you call being closed minded just not likeing one bass player over another then i'm closed minded. I did make some s**t up thir. I really dont care anymore. I am pretty sure that most of you couldnt understand exatally what i meant. I think Poping and Slapping is an amazing sound. The new Generation of Bass Players , (or at least were i am from) The Power of Pop and Slap, or anything else that would require a Bass Player to use his creative juices is gone. I Cant seem to find any bass players that have musical Talent Thats not saying thir isnt. Thats why i feel so strongly about Having this s**t I think Geddy Lee should be expanding his ability to play the bass. I know he sings and plays piano and bass. But so do other people. He makes his living making music. But being renowned for how good of a bass player he is, i think he should expand. If Geddy Lee was playing any other style of music then what he is now...eh i dont think it would be so pretty. pop n slap isnt the only way to be creative. lol. geddy has been playin for a reallly long time, and is very good at what he does. why should he expand? if geddy tried to change who he was to please the masses, he would no longer be Geddy. He does what he does very well. and you are close minded because you think that a bass player MUST slap to be good.

I'm sick of kids that think slap is the end all, be all in bass playing. "******** harmony, groove, and playing in the pocket, if I can slap, I'm good, that's all I need to know, people will think I'm a bass GOD!". Screw that noise, the only people you are impressing when you pull that s**t are other punk kids, while people whose opinions should matter to you, people that could teach you something, people with 20-30 years experience, will give you nothing but dirty looks. And it's not because they're old, slap has been around since the 60s, they're not out of touch, they're just tired of dumb kids making clackity-clackity noises and thinking they're the bees knees because they're doing so. Try just playing a simple 12-bar blues next you stop by a music shop, see what kind of response you get, I can almost guarantee you that you'll get nothing but positive remarks. I think i may have been taken the wrong way. I dont feel that way about poping and slapping, but i do love that sound. The whole sound the whole line of jazz basses make. If i did say that kind of stuff, then i regread it.
Geddy Lee is not my problem he can do what he wants, and people can still think of him as masterful.
Simply what i am saying: where i am from and where i am located right now, the creativeness of bass players is at 0.

so all your geddy slamming and such, in this guild and the other was only to say that ppl around you lack creativitly, and you dont like ppl who say geddy is masterful?
wouldnt it have been easier to just say that??

no...no..no, i didnt say i dont like him, i kinda got out of hand, he is a good bass player, but i only expected him to be better, and one way i thouhgt he could do so was to try poping and slapping, and then all of you thought that is what i thought made a bass player good, but i didnt mean that. I did say people around me lack crativity, I almost belived that music was dying naturally. Hearing in some battle of the bands that screamo was winning everytime, makes me want to change that.

Flea is my Insperation, and the best of all time. I will not have him loose to Geddy lee, who seemes to blow your mind doing nothing, being fast WWOOOO, i can be fast, and i bet i am faster then most people here. But being talented at the ENTIRE BASS that is Flea, Faster then Geddy Lee and Pops and Slaps like a God. YOU CANT COMPARE THEM!!! FLEA IS A GOD COMPARE TO GEDDY LEE!!!! Geddy actually knows music. Theory and composission. Flea will openly admit he doesnt even care. Who's close minded? Learning theory will limit your thinking until you learn to integrate different aspects together. So who's the better musician? 3. Geddy Lee is faster than Flea.. but how fast one plays doesn't matter.. I can play faster than a ton of people i consider to be better bassists than i. 4. Flea is in no way even close to the plane of playing Victor Wooten has reached. 5. Why are all the topics "Flea vs. some guy" why is Flea everyones standard of greatness... yes, Flea is a strong player. He's good in the pocket and very influential, but does not deserve the credit he has gotten.
