User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.He didn't have an easy life.

It was the conclusion he had come to, as he stumbled out of a portal under the shade of a tree. His tails were dragging limply on the ground, and they were glowing slightly, his self-healing repairing the bones broken by his niece. Some parts of his body had the healer's glow as well.

It was to Xanul's dismay that Verix's weapon had grown bigger now that she was a teen, and she had developed fangs. As usual, he was her punching bag. Trying to hold up a Shield Charm was no use, and he had given in. Well, somewhat. At least he was lucky that he could heal himself.

And that he had managed to get away from babysitting Verix. He had dropped her off his brother's house to play with Derix (Or rather, create chaos). For now, Xelon, the father would have to deal with them. This uncle was getting some rest from the physical abuse he had gotten.

User ImageAnd her life was just the epitome of easy.

Not, not really. Brought up in poverty... the death of her mother... the burning of her workplace... the death of her father... and the loss of her bodyguards. But life, Fuu decided, could be worse. Much, much worse. She learned that when life threw her curves, she needed to swerve around them. When it gave her lemons, she had to make lemonade out of it. Figuratively speaking, of course. She was a little too clumsy to dodge curves, and life definitely wasn't generous enough to give her lemons.

It was in the midst of this thinking that she realized something a tad bit out of the ordinary, and that was Xanul. The shining fur paired with the exhausted face was far from typical - of this, she was certain.

Fuu approached the tired figure curiously, honey-colored eyes piquing with interest upon further inspection of his current state. Strange; very, very strange. But whether or not he was dangerous mattered little - because he was hurt.

Her mind argued, however, that perhaps he was just tired - and the shimmering was an everyday thing. But that was too logical - and she hated logical, so she continued her advance towards the male awkwardly. Upon reaching him, she offered a small, questioning look - her tails curling thoughtfully before she spoke, somewhat hesitantly: "Tell me... are you a firefly, or is there some other explanation for the glowing phenomenon? No, let me guess... you are a famous Circus Performer, come to bask in his light show amidst the shade beneath the Tree of Glory. Am I right?"

She pulled her lips back in a pearly grin whilst her eyebrows rose thoughtfully. Shall she introduce herself, or allow him to explain...? Ah, introductions came later than her mind normally anticipated - this she had learned from her encounter with Spawn. So she would bite her tongue for now.

If it had been under the full moon, he would, in fact, be dangerous. Then again, under the circumstances of a round and bright moon, he wouldn't even have been hurt. Lune was much more adept at using his healing. His Nobody side was better than him in many ways, and it took him a while to even admit this to himself. Perhaps it was because Verix had proclaimed Lune to be a "much cooler" uncle many times that he thought this way.

"A firefly?" He echoed, turning to offer the female a tired smile. He turned to peer at the glowing parts of his fur, which was slowly fading as the healing was almost done. "Nah...it's just what happens when healing occurs. It's a family thing." His mother, uncle Hemi, and grandmother had healing as well, and so, he knew. Perhaps he was too used to such things to even think that it wasn't normal for others.

User ImageHis face, Fuu decided with unnoticeable concern, looked tired - his posture sluggish. His words were hesitant, and he did not seem all too bright. She had just subtly insulted him; implied that he was from a traveling circus's Freak Show, and yet he did not even take the hint to heart and snap some crude remark at her? How unpolished - she had totally been asking for it. Perhaps his wounded figure was under such agonizing pain that he decided to overlook such small details, and focus more on the bigger picture? How positively dreadful... she deserved that attention, dammit. But, further consideration informed her that she was being selfish - and she should care more about this person's health than her own ego. Then she recalled that he mentioned his glowing, in some way, was related to healing. She quirked a brow at this, her nose wrinkling thoughtfully before she spoke: "Let me get this straight, Glow-Boy... you're hurt, the reason why matters little to me right now - but what does matter is that..." Fuu cocked her head to the side, "You're... healing yourself, so you will be okay?" Her tone was questioning, hinting that she was unsure as to whether or not she was right, bearing in mind that such things seemed highly unlikely to your typical Kitsusagi.

She watched him, honey-colored eyes bemused as she remembered him vocalizing that it was a: 'family thing'. Fuu rose her brows at the remark, her tails intertwining with one-another. Was his family as nutty as he was, she wondered. She supposed that maniacs weren't just born maniacs - they had to be raised maniacs - so the only thing that was scarier than hell spawn, were the parents they came from... right?

Fuu nibbled her bottom lip at the thought, her claws pawing at the ground beneath her quietly. Where had he come from? How long had he been here? Was he really healing himself, or had he simply covered his body in the contents of a glow stick? Perhaps he was really just some sort of bum looking for attention - or maybe he actually was healing himself, and she had just seen little in her time at this place. She watched him with uncertainty, her ears dropping quietly.

This was concerning...

Xanul was, really, too nice to say anything crude to others; sarcastic maybe, in the case of Lune. Even when his niece whacked him, bit him, he had taken in all into stride. It was his oldest brother's daughter after all, and he had a responsibility. He was glad to feel the strength slowly flowing back and the pain starting to ebb away. "It's Xanul." He smiled at her. It didn't matter to him about the nickname; it rather reminded him of Yuffie, for some reason.

"Well, yeah. I get hurt a lot these days. But I'll be fine, eventually." Though he would need some rest. Even though the healing would be done soon, it didn't cover for his fatigue. It was like how Saix insisted Ayako get some rest, even though she had two healers work on her injuries.

The glow about parts of his fur had now disappeared, and he shook his tails experimentally, a happy wag when no pain had coursed through his body when he did. "I guess...you're from another world? Another...life?" That would explain why she had that curious look in her eyes when he mentioned the glow was healing.

User ImageFuu noted, with unimaginable haste, that he was quite the opposite from herself. Had she received an insult even remotely like the one she had barked at him, her reaction would have been much, much different - much, much worse. She'd have made quite the show out of it, in all actuality. And it was in the midst of this thinking that he spoke to her again. Her brow quirked thoughtfully when he corrected his name for her, whereupon she batted her eyelashes dotingly. "Well then, Xanul..." She emphasized his name in a flirtatious tone whilst circling his figure fondly, "I suppose I will call you by your name from now on..." Yeah right. "Oh, it's definitely a pretty name - I mean, as far as 'X's can go in prettifying names - yours takes the cake. Did I mention you were pretty?" She grinned inwardly, her tails flicking amusedly as she immediately continued, "And I'm Fuu. Isn't that simply the most dazzling name you have ever heard? Go ahead, go ahead - take a minute... gawk at the beauty of my face and the nice ring of my name; I won't mind, promise. It happens to me all the time." No it didn't.

It was around this time that the glowing ceased, and she offered him a curious look at the sudden disappearance. How dreadful. What, exactly, was she going to tease him about now? Perhaps his lack of a backbone? But then - in retrospect, maybe he did have a backbone; in all reality, she had just met him - there was no way she could actually know. Her eyebrows knit together contemplatively as she wondered what she had left.

And then he murmured something about other worlds, and other lives, and she gave him the strangest look once the vocalization came to a halt. She bit her tongue to avoid saying something smug, but it slipped: "I beg your pardon? Are you from Loony-Ville, sir? Because I quite have no idea what it is you are talking about."

Once the words managed to escaped her, she tried desperately to claim them back. But grabby paws did nothing, and she was left with a look of uncertainty and a voice of hesitation, "Or rather - I mean... I..." A small flick of her tail as she tried to comfort herself a bit into fixing the rude remark, "What I mean is... I came from elsewhere, yes. Not another world entirely... the fact that you would even ask such a thing seems crazy to me - but then, so does the randomosity of your glowing - or, I'm sorry... healing. I guess what I'm saying is... I come from a small village where the only well-known skill a person can have is that with a sword... not with... magic... pfft..." She giggled a bit as the word left her mouth. Fairy tales and magic were things she had given up on long before her mother had even died. The world was cruel, and she knew it - and she doubted anything existed amidst the poverty, and pain, and disease anymore. Nothing but hope.

Her ears flattened. "I don't mean to laugh, Glowdy-McButtums... it's just... I suppose..." She frowned, "I just find things like this really hard to grasp, I guess. I've been alive for so many years, and this is the first I've actually seen of it without my child imagination."

"Um...thanks." He grinned, gold eyes watching her circling figure, an eyebrow quirked in a bemused fashion. This seemed all too familar. It was like deja vu, for some reason. "My mom named me, so I guess she gets all the credit and...uh...what?" He slipped, eyes widening. Pretty? It sounded so much like Yuffie saying that his hair was girly and long (well, longer than hers anyway) and she had gotten him into a lot of embarrassment. Or maybe this kitsusagi was just complimenting him and he was thinking too much into it.

"Fuu is a nice name. Simple, but nice." He managed to regain his composure and smiled at her, tails wagging slightly. He was sincere with his compliment; it was a nice name. And Xanul was a nice guy.

"Loony-Ville? Uh no. I'm from the Mountain, well, born here actually, but I usually zip to the Realm and back..." It took him a while to get it and he laughed nervously. Oh great, he must have sounded pretty loony back there.

"I mean, I'm not crazy." He fell silent as he watched her continue, the tips of his tails flicking slightly as he listened. "It's just that...so many people I know are from past lives, another world. My dad, my grandad and some friends." Like Orta, Josh, and many, many others. "I just...somewhat assumed you were one of them as well."

"A sword huh?" He tapped his chin thoughtfully with a paw. Verix would like that. A lot. He shook his head slightly to clear the thought and looked at her, a confused expression upon his features. "You mean you haven't seen anyone do magic around here? There are lots of witches, wizards, and people with powers around." That would explain the way she had reacted to him.

"It's okay." He laughed, padding forward to pat her lightly, and somewhat awkwardly on her shoulder and pulled his paw back to scratch the back of his head. "It's not your fault. I have a friend that wasn't used to seeing magic a while. He's still adjusting to it."

User Image'I mean, I'm not crazy.' Yes. That was believable.

Honey-tinted eyes watched him incredulously as he placed his paw upon her shoulder; and she was torn between actually believing him, or brushing him away completely and demanding that he go find his mother and tell her that he was direly in need of some sort of mental institution. She favored the first as he pulled it away himself to scratch contemplatively at his head. A quirk of her brow as he mentioned his friend - and a trio of tails flicked behind her uncertainly as she recalled the mention of witches, wizards, and 'people with powers around.' Lashes fluttered like butterflies, and she exposed pearly teeth in a friendly grin, "Well then..." Fuu dragged the words on for as long as her lungs could manage - which, quite honestly, was an impressive amount of time: "Maybe I should..." Her eyes flicked towards whence she came, her mind uncertain as to whether or not departing was really a good decision when she had such an opportunity.

"Ask you a question." She finished, her voice delicate as she brought her attention upon him again. "You say that there are magical beings around, right? And my assumption, correct me if I'm wrong, is that you are one of the many. So - Xanul... out of... pure curiosity..." She brought herself even closer to him than he had to her earlier, "Are you able to track people with that magic of yours?"

She swallowed a knot in her throat that she recognized as hope, teeth biting at her lip thoughtfully.

Maybe she should what? He wasn't sure if he had convinced her that magic was real; it took a while for him to convince Josh, who firmly believed that only science existed, from his world anyway. Even though he had done some magic tricks, the other had expressed doubt, and he still did, somewhat. He watched Fuu curiously in expectation.

A question. Well, he could handle that. Was it to ask him to do a spell? That was Josh's first demand.

"Track people?" Golden eyes widened and tails flicked uncertainly. "I'm not sure...Axis can, by sensing their emotions, but that's provided she's met them before. I don't think there's a spell for tracking people; there's a Summoning Spell though, but I'm not sure if you could use it on others." He understood her question of course. She wanted to know if she could track her friends from her previous life.

"I could ask mother. Spells could be invented, and maybe we could try?" He didn't want to diminish whatever hope she had left in her. To invent a spell took a while though, and you had to perfect it constantly. Which was why he preferred to stick to those spells already known.

User ImageShe did anything she could to assure him that she was listening. Her ears flicked. She cocked her head. She added an 'Mmm-Hmm' to the end of every point he provided her. But he was doubtful, she could tell; and she found it to be both upsetting and comforting. Her mother had told her, several times before, that the probability of magic's existence was slim; she hadn't believed in it for years. Xanul seemed convinced enough that it was real; and his earlier phenomenon was almost enough to make Fuu think the same. But even if it did exist, it had done nothing for her mother; and now, it seemed, it would do little for her - or at least the chances of it doing something for her were very unlikely, indicated the male's tone. Her patterned tail flicked with hesitance as she watched him with a honey-colored gaze.

Disappointed, she pinpointed. She was disappointed. That was what she actually was; it was how she truly felt. Of course, he made it perfectly clear to her that there was still a chance; he assured her that he and his mother could try - which she found comforting to say the least, considering they were near strangers bounds.

"I see..." She finally murmured, her eyes downcast. "You sound a little unsure of yourself there, Glow-Butt." The tiniest sigh whilst her faith in him wavered.

But what did she have to lose? For Christ's sake, she had chosen to travel with those two in the past; it couldn't hurt of she accepted Xanul's awkward offer. She brought her attention back onto him, lips pursed and features uncertain.

Words and gestures were all that she had; that and her girlie appearance - but normally it wasn't enough to convince another individual to help her. This could be her only chance.

So she took it.

"If you are willing to help me..." Her lips tugged downward at the shakiness of her own tone, and she questioned whether it really did belong to her. The heaving of a sigh before she went on, voice steadier, "Then I'd be honored to accept it." A sad smile as she felt some of her air come back to her, "And of course I'll reward you with a Princess's kiss! What do you say?"

He watched her nervously, unsure of how she would react. He didn't know if he should add that Axis was pretty sure that she could only track part-Nobodies this way. His little sister had explained that emotions were usually the same among kitsusagis, therefore hard to track. Even if you knew how they were feeling at the time, it could be easy to mix up.

"With Nobodies, well part Nobodies, it's easier. Because they lack certain emotions, and well, different part Nobodies, they lack different emotions." The Squib had explained, which he found rather convincing.

But he didn't have the heart (Well, not that he really had one) to break her hope. "I'm sorry I can't be more helpful." He said, looking rather worried. He didn't lie to her either, but he had told her the truth as gently as he could. "I mean, I really don't know...but yeah, it's possible to try? Magic is still advancing, and you'll never know what others may come up with."

He broke into a cheerful smile as she accepted. "That's the spirit! You'll never know till you try, right?" He patted her gently on the back, then drew away slightly at her next words. "Wha..?" He stammered slightly, a slight blush crossing his cheeks. "Um, you're a princess?" He had only heard Tuuli claiming to be a princess (He had his doubts, of course) but he had never really met one.

User ImageA small pouting of her lips as he began to inform her of the 'Nobodies'. Fuu furrowed her brows together contemplatively as he tried desperately to explain to her why said creatures were simpler to track than those whom, she supposed, were like her. 'Nobodies'. Fuu huffed. What in heaven's name were those? "'Nobodies' you say. Isn't 'Nobody' typically a term used to explain an individual whom means, so to say, 'Little' - or perhaps 'Nothing' - in the world?" The raising of a slender brow as she completed her inquiry.

And then there came a rapping upon her back, tenderer than raindrops.

After which he stuttered backward uncertainly. He questioned - very lamely - about her declaration of royalty. Fuu stood, her head cocked to the side. She flared her nostrils at him worriedly, after which she approached him (bearing in mind his sudden back-step). "You're kidding, right?" Her lips stretched outward like a fiddle-string, and she grinned at him widely.

"My oh my, sir - sometiiiimes..." The tiniest of giggles, muffled by the back of her paw. "I can't tell if it's just stupidity, or what." A gentle shrug of her shoulders as she considered her next words wisely.

After all - he was doing his absolute best to be kind to her. She who hadn't shown him much kindness to begin with.

"I both presume and hope that it's the second." The offering of a sweet smile before she moved on to question him again.

"Anyway - I'm no a princess. Not any sort of any kind - let's get serious."

A pause for breath, "What I am is a girl - who is looking desperately for her friends. And what you are is a boy who is, quite possibly, intent on helping me... wait - did I mention I was a beautiful girl? No matter - you're aware of that, already... let's see... where was I..." She scratched at the turf beneath her paws, "Ah! Yes. 'A boy who is, quite possibly, intent on helping me' find said friends. So - how do we go about doing that, my knight in shining armor? My savior? My Glow-Butt? Do I come with you somewhere? Do you find me? Pardon the girl unsure of 'the way'."

Oh yes.

It was time to him to explain to yet another what Nobodies were. How many times had he said it now, he wondered. Both of Nobodies and magic, he was regularly acquainted with, but they were an object of puzzlement for many. Maybe he should stop telling them about that? It wasn't particularly easy, when he used magic, especially that from his Nobody blood, to create portals often to go from one place to another.

"It is." He replied. "But, in our case...it's different. My dad's a Nobody, a being without a heart, without emotions. And well, me and my siblings are half-Nobodies. We don't really possess hearts either; we don't have a pulse." He added, tapping his chest with a paw. He heaved a sigh. "But we do have some emotions, but they're extremely random, and also confusing." It was difficult to be the offspring of one without a heart and one who possessed one.

"Well..." He stammered. "I never know if you're joking or not." Or trying to make him embarrassed. Girls.

He chuckled softly as she stopped in her speech and pondered slightly before complimenting herself then moved on. "You can just call me Xanul, you know." A slight blush tinted his cheeks again at the flattering comments. "Well, for starters...where do you live? If you have found a place to live, that is."

User ImageShe remained entirely unsure of what - exactly - a 'Nobody' was, despite Xanul's best efforts to explain it to her. The small girl tried to cling-to and understand his vocalizations to the best of her ability; but in the end she stood, pools of honey merely gazing at him - glossy and quizzical - as the male both tried and failed desperately with his explanation. He didn't fumble over his wording - of course - much to her delight - and he made it as simple as he possibly could (which she appreciated, despite its lack of success). She noted thoughtfully how he had seemed tired with his own words; as though he had spoken them time and time again; and she was sure he had.

Fuu licked her lips with a small piece of contemplation.

Should she, or should she not, ask him to elaborate again?

She decided (judging from his agitated gestures) on the second.

And it was in the midst of this decision that he stammered at her, whereupon he admitted that he was never honestly sure whether or not she was kidding with him (or something of that caliber). She raised an elegant brow and giggled bemusedly.

She found herself somewhat offended by his soft cackling whence she was finished complimenting herself, and she wrinkled her nose at the noise. Why, exactly, did her beauty amuse him?

No matter - she let it slide; because she noticed, somewhat reluctantly, the delicate shade of his cheeks.

She almost commented on the gentle blushing to embarrass him more (perhaps blow and plant a few kisses his way); but then he asked her a question far more embarrassing.

Fuu's ears dropped.

"Staaaayiiing... eeerrm... you see, that's a funny question actually - because..." She laughed awkwardly as she tried to think of a humorous way to word her next phrase, "I'm sort of - kind of... homeless? Not like those smelly hobo-Kitsu you see wallowing in the sun, of course... rather..." She bit at her tongue, "Rather..." A furtive glance towards a bird who had landed nearby, "Rather the outdoors are my home. And the stars and clouds are my ceiling; and sometimes, when I'm lucky, hay is my bed and..." She dropped her head, "And who am I kidding? I'm miserable and just like those smelly hobo-Kitsu."

Then again, Xanul doubted she understood what he had said. The look in her eyes said it all; he had seen it many a time. How many had he explained, or well, tried to, and failed? Granted, it wasn't an easy concept to grasp. Josh had just stared at him and changed the topic.

Even sometimes, he himself didn't get it.

Oh man, was that a wrong question to ask? He wondered, watching her droop slightly. It wasn't surprising that she wouldn't have a place to live; as if a house would magically appear when they arrived in this world.

He frowned. "Well, you could look for people to room with. Or possibly stay at the HQ?" He would offer for her to stay at his family's house; but he wasn't sure if, firstly, Saix would like it, and secondly, she would want to. Trel's house and the Place were huge, and he didn't know if she would like the crowd.
