The forrest floor was alive with sound. First a shrill squeal pierced the deceptively peaceful air of the woodlands, followed by the rippling of leaves being flung up in a dizzy. A small mountain rabbit was fleeing for its life back to its hovel where it knew that it would be safe from the monstrosity that gave its bellowing roar in foreboding reply to the scream. In the presence of the crimson nightmare, leaves did not rustle but simply bent, crunched, and shattered beneath the weight of the cruel claws as they belted the earth in furious tempo. It was lunch time!
Adrenalin pumped thickly through Slawter's veins as he gave chase, the thrill of the hunt clouding his thoughts. Even though he was in his mid-stages of growth, Wrath was a startling sight to behold. Lean muscle rippled just below what seemed like blood-soaked fur, propelling the large display of horns and teeth forward at a full sprint. He was at least the size of a normal kitsusagi now, if not bigger, and was about three times as horrifying. A serpentine tongue lashed the air with a furious passion, his skinless maw hanging open with rapt anticipation for the succulent meat and blood his prey would have to offer. Even with its strong hind legs he was gaining on the rabbit, stretching his as long as he could each time he threw himself forward. It would all be over very soon. Craning his head as far as he could, Slawter prepared for the final launch that would bring fur to his tongue, and his serrated jaws down.

A silent pair of tattered ivory splashes silently tracked the rabbit's terrified flight for its life, the rest of the monstrous face lost in darkness, scraggly branches and tattered leaves. The shrills of the innocent urged--no, nearly compelled them to take action, thick limbs tensing while alien-forged talons ripped aggressively at the bark of their current perch. This was instinct, they reminded themselves with a low, hissing chuckle. The youngling couldn't help his carnivorous tendencies, so who were they to deny him of a meal? Besides, though the thudding of the creature's heart echoed loudly in their ears, they knew the rabbit was nothing more than an animal in mind. Expendable, as it was. Their "son" of sorts had grown into a powerful, impressive beast, and Venom was not ashamed to admit that they were...proud. Yes, proud that this bloodied mess that had born such striking similarities to their true son had turned out so differently! Violent, aggressive, yes, yet Slawter lacked the psychotic tendencies and the urge to simply make all the world suffer for no reason that Carnage bore proudly.
They had been, of course, surprised at the unexpected growth spurt that the beast had put on. His sister, too! She matched him head on so far, but was lacking decidedly in both muscle and strength. That was all right. She'd never much liked her father's idea of a good time, anyway... As the bleeding Nightmare bounded after his quarry, Venom hunkered in preparation, the very tip of his tongue thrashing before his grinning cage of fangs. Wrath may have been at the top of the food chain down on the earth, but what about the predators that lurked... above? When the teenaged male was nearly under the tree, Venom pounced from above, a silent, massive streak of darkness save for the spittle flying from openly grinning jaws. Only at the last minute did he roar a challenge, the sound strangled by his guffawing.
"Honnnneeeeyyy! We're HOME!" Oh, Slawter might have been big...but Venom was still almost twice his size, and not afraid to keep the youngling in his place!

Slawter wasn't paying attention. Even when the roar was issued he didn't really register it until there was a sudden barrage of weight thrown onto his shoulders. The momentum propelled the teen forward, filling his mouth not with meat but with dirt and leaves and rocks. A new bellow issued forth, this one from the youth's belly in outrage. He was newly alive beneath the massive weight, the developing muscles in his shoulders tightening and bulging with effort as the Nightmare attempted to buck off the cheeky b*****d. If he could turn his head and get his jaws on them, he would see that the flesh was rendered from the bone!
Somewhere, that laugh and the gravely voice penetrated his mounting rage. Still, he was somewhat frustrated anyway. He couldn't have picked a better time? Grunting, Slawter ceased his bucking, simply trying to give himself a shake like a dog laden down with water. "OWE me." He snarled at the other, miffed enough to forget the manners one usually displayed for a parent. "Ssss off."

The thick body beneath their cruel claws quaked with virulent fury, so strong that Venom could practically taste it. Another roaring cackle surged forth past his gaping jaws, while the beast flattened himself against the smaller body, flopping on top of him with an exaggerated yawn. Drool slid slowly down his jowels and hung underneath his chin, the twisting red ribbon that was his tongue sliming its way up the back of the Nightmare's neck to his ears. "Owe you?" The symbiote host guffawed, shaking his head viciously to send a splatter of saliva in every direction. "Why, we grew you from a seed! Don't push your luck, or we'll put you right back in the ground again! In pieces!"
Chortling with amusement to themselves, the bulky beast pushed himself upwards, effectively freeing the bloodied teen from beneath his weight. "Besides... It's an important day for you! Today, we're going to teach you something to rattle around in that big skull of yours!" He leered, reaching out to bat at the other's beaked muzzle rather roughly. "If you're good, we can find you something better than a rabbit..." The enticing offer sounded more like a taunt than anything, punctuated with another one of his grating cackles.

Moisture trickled into the fur of his neck and ears and the Nightmare bucked again. Ewwwghhh! Knowing his dearest guardian, it was that obscenely long appendage of a tongue- he knew it well. The threat to his ears were words of affection, the gravely notes that he had fallen to sleep to as a kit. Reluctantly, Slawter seemed to settle some, grunting and smacking the ground with his tails. When the weight disappeared, though, he was up, spinning about to meet the other, planning to try and rough him up until his muzzle was smacked.
The words seemed to seep in then. Teach? Better than rabbits? If Slawter could look skeptical... He clacked his beak, stepping forward to bump his shoulder into the other roughly. His eager agreement. "What's it?"

A thickened rumble of amusement droned in the barrel chest of the beast, echoing like distant thunder before a storm that might drown the world. The dull thump against sticky skin was accepted and returned in full; Venom lowered his broad skull to shove it against the currently empty sides of his adopted 'child'. He was growing daily now--they appraised the bulky other with a leer that sent saliva spilling down their dark cheeks. Any larger and, well, he could prove a problem should he rage out of control! "Not unlike our firstborn..." Venom snarled mirthlessly to himself even as his grin stretched wider. "So Slawter... How do you feel about other people? And we don't mean your sister or... well, that other fool that hangs around sometimes."
Well? They tilted their head to the side, as though to better catch whatever hissing sentences would fall from the other's bloodied beak. This was an important test--they always liked to know just how hard they'd have to work before setting out to do something, after all! It'd give them an excuse to start on beating some sense into the boy early on.

Other people? Slawter issued a sound of open bemusement, as if he'd never heard of such existences. There was food, his family... Well, he never really thought of those like him before, to be honest. "Don't know." He replied honestly, accepting the bump with only a slight wavering. A grumbling noise probably meant to be thinking rose from his throat. Finally, he offered. "Could be tassssty?"
