Hmm. Maybe we could choose someone who's not a regular columnist to write a little column, and switch people until everyone says "No more!"
Or, then again, I could just shut up and say I posted a little mini-critique in the Critic's Corner.

If I were to do a lot of critiques, should I make my own thread like the columns threads and the Rushifa's review thread, or should I stick to the Critic's Corner?

Jahoclave I think we just need bigger baseball bats. It's not so much the bats as the people who do not respect the bats. But then, bigger bats = more respect for the bats?

It's pretty much up to you. I keep my own thread so I can start articles randomly, brainstorm, etc, in my own space. It all depends on how you want it all to work.

I have no problem with you starting your own thread, should you want to. 3nodding Today is publishing day. heart It feels good to be back. I feel like I can finally relax. Gaw, they want me to sit in a car for 8 hours and look at scenery, but I fall asleep and I get yelled at, or I read and I get yelled at. Jeez. I can only look at so much scenery! Idea: What if, when a staffie submits to the 'zine, we put it in the staff spotlight? Of course, we could add a penalty to it, like checks and balances. For example, a staffie can't win Best of Issue, but their work gets published under their Spotlight instead of in the Honorable Mentions. And they get to choose which of their pieces gets published instead of the editor. What do you think?

I think that's a great idea, Serieve. Though, I do believe, after that issue, the staffie should be able to win BOI. biggrin

I guess I've been caught up with school-work and tests; I actually didn't notice that today was publishing-day. Serieve, I feel (sorry) for you. Just be glad it was only 8 hours, and not longer. Nice idea, but I think Scary_Fairy has a point. The only thing is, won't some people think that that would be unfairly biased? Even if it isn't?

Explain to me what you mean.
Staff Spotlight would be an occasional thing, not happening every month but every now and then, right? And, if we want, we can add in a piece written by us or a pic, something done by us, along with our optional blurb. The draw back would be that we couldn't win Best of Issue with anything we published in the issue, since BOI is voted by staffies.
That's what I was thinking of.

Yeah, it's always sort of been an unofficial rule that the staff members can't actually win. The spotlight was just a feature thing to actually "encourage" people to want to be on staff by showing that with participation you can get a little blurb about you in the press. Slave labour by psychology. And I think we'd like to have more people input on what gets into the press, but as far as the practicallity of that at the moment... I'm hoping to have that staff thread done by next month. That should help straighten some things out a little bit. I figure if we can get some more people in as editors, selection will be part of their duties. Which reminds me. We should include a large. NOW HIRING: ALL POSITIONS. Sign in the Press.

For now staffies will be elligable for BOI, seeing as Scary Fairy has submitted and got in (big surprise). We'll have to work things out to broaden things, since we may lose some really good submissions if we don't let staffies submit with the non-staffies. Hm.
Anyway, the Voting Booth is open. For our new staffies, you just go in and make your own post, which is to be recycled each month when you vote, and pick the piece you like best and believe should win Best of the Issue. It can be either poetry or prose, but only one piece (sadly).
Oh yes, and anyone can vote regardless of their position. You just have to be staff.
Much thanks. 3nodding
EDIT: Maybe staff could reserve the Staff Spotlight for pieces of art/writing that they're especially proud of? Then put regular submissions into the Submissions thread. I'd feel more comfortable if we had more editors to help choose pieces though, so it's more fair.

Serieve: There are a few formatting errors in the Draft; I'd take a look at them, try to correct them, but for the fact I'm playing Lillian Ninja again.

Thought that since I couldn't do much, on account of the whole Ninja thing, I'd try my hand at a little something. Bit sloppy, I know, if I can remember how to work with the font, effect-wise, I'll do that. It also got blurred some during the uploading.
