Elrothiel watched the last of the returning men pass through the gates, then listened as the gates thudded closed behind them. The sound held a certain finality - any man who had not yet returned was almost certainly dead. Not many had reached their city's walls.

The Ranger walked slowly along the parapet, eyes only upon the elf, and nothing else. He slowed as he neared her, saying the traditional elvish greeting of one of equal social ranking to the other.

Amaroq watched them take the Hrorik to the medical ward. Amaroq laid down at the front of the gate and waited for the time that he would be needed once more.

Ranus hands dropped to his side as he looked out at the distant smoke of the army of Mordor. He let a cold grin cross his lips, "I'm hearing we have to present ourselves to Denthor if we wish to aid him."

Then Amaroq came up alongside Ranu and began to whine looking up at the ranger. His eyes had a pleading and questioning look about them.

Ranu glanced down at the wolf, "We're going to visit this towns pack leader, will you come with us to represent your human?" He glanced up at the elf, eyes twinking, "Are any of us not?"

Elrothiel rolled her eyes. "I try and delude myself that I'm sane, for the most part." She muttered under her breath, but smiled anyway.

There was a slight pause, then Elrothiel followed, moving slightly faster in order to catch up. She was frowning slightly as she considered the coming conversation and the likely outcome of it.

She smiled briefly, scanning the crowd and logging the local people's reactions to them as they passed. There seemed to be a distinct sense of foreboding over the people and few of them were smiling. There was also an unnatural quiet as they passed, making her feel distinctly uncomfortable.
