Hrorik turned to Ranu's bed to see that he was awake and said,"Well, whadda ya know the liddle ranger, Ranu is awake!!! It's about time you woke up from dreamland. Gave El quite the scare."

Ranu stared blankly, trying to think. To remember. "S..Sorry?" He said, turning his head away to cough. The herbs the healers had given him to cure the poison made it leak out a few seconds so he was glad he'd turned. When he was free of the vile looking substance, he turned back, feeling decidedly better. "Sorry. I partied to hard."

Elrothiel scowled at the jest. "We were worried." She admonished him, but couldn't keep up the pretence of anger. He had saved her life after all. "What happened?"

"Go on now Ranu. Give us the details!" Hrorik insisted to Ranu. Meanwhile, Amaroq had gone back to the stable and fell asleep.

"I lost the Nazgul and found Nonah. I know not where she is. She vanished but I hope she followed me. We were heading south when gust outside the city, a group of Orc were scouting. Not in force but they got in a lucky hit in when they ambushed us. Damn scum. But it does mean the attack will be soon. The smoke at Osgilith's gone." Ranu drew in a deep, shuddery breath. Would he be ready?

Hrorik then got a grim look on his face and he bowed his head," Then it is time I departed from you. It is in my clan's legend that the last of our people would stem the greatest evil of all time. That would be me. I shall not go alone as the legend would have it however. I was fortunate enough to find Amaroq. I think I'll live......maybe. Goodbye." With that Hrorik sprinted out of the room and headed for the stables.

Elrothiel touched Ranu's arm lightly, sensing his doubt and suppressing her own fear. For a life that should span millennia in the Grey Havens with her race, this war could easily represent a very abrupt and solitary end and she was well aware of it.

Ranu glanced down at the light touch. It was oddly soothing. He sat up slowly, watching Hrorik. He wished he knew why the man had a dwarvish name. His head shook slowly as he struggled to stand, moving the fussing healer away.

Hrorik brushed the tears that were forming in his eyes away. He knew that this was the only way. He knew that with Amaroq by his side they would be able to slow down the army the Sauron was sending. Hrorik reached the stables and he said to Amaroq,"It is time. We must go to face oblivion in order that this world may continue in freedom." Amaroq nodded and gestured for Hrorik to get on. Hrorik got on and they rode out of there running as if they had no tomorrow.

Elrothiel slipped out of her bed, standing behind him, a slight frown marring her brows as she followed his gaze.

"Now where's he going in such a hurry?" Ranu wondered out loud. He looked down at the clothes they'd put him in. His own lay on a chair. He limped slowly. The poison had taken a terrible toll on his strength. He gripped his trousers, uncaringly changing out of the ones he wore already to his own. He struggled with his shirt then just tore it off, drawing his own on, buttoning it clumsily. He drew on his boots and grabbed his knife, twirling it slowly between his fingers before slipping it into his boot. He reached for arrow quiver, raising it with shaking arms and drawing it on, along with his bow.
The Ranger paused a moment, drawing in deep breaths before he gripped his sword. He buckled it slowly then said into the air, "Did Sailas come?"

"He came." Elrothiel replied quietly. She guessed that he intended to follow and in his condition, even the thought of it was foolhardy. She sat down on the edge of the bed again, simply watching him.

Hrorik and Amaroq reached Osgiliath in record time. They had managed to get there before the final battle for the city. A Gondorian stopped him and asked his name and he replied,"My name is Hrorik and the great black wolf is my friend Amaroq. We fight and travel together. Combined we are a mighty force to be dealt with. We have come to help you fend off Sauron's army." The ranger nodded and led him to the front where they waited for the enemy to get off their boats.......................
