That's cake compared to what I said when I first pondered the idea of a sequel.

Considering that Phantom of Manhatten was based on the musical where Christine does NOT die at the end? The movie did that for some romantic BS that no one understood.

Yeah. Too many hidden meanings in that that nobody really sees because they're all too guy-obsessed and are staring at Gerik the entire time. And any scene he's not in, they talk during.

I doubt they're hidden meanings. I think Webber and Schumacher just threw them in to waste time.

Sounds more plausible than what I said. Sheesh, I really have no life...I'm listening to this year's marching show on my computer. Anyways...
They should just chuck this sequel idea out the window. It probably won't make much in openings. Unless there's people like us watching it only to see how stupid it really is.

WHAT?!...This...I...Speak...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! HOW CAN ALW DO THIS!!!...I heard tale of their becoming a sequel but now that I know the details, I dread to even think of the book PoM or ...Just....NO!!! No sequel Bad idea, I CANT SPEAK!!!......type damn you child. Alright ALW is a moron! The phantom of the opera is a set book, it has no ending and making one for it, without Gaston Leroux is dumb! Hes dead, you cant get him to help you write a book, and dont change his. Im full against this stupid sequel. God!
...If ALW makes a sequel, then God strike him down...

I hope my Mom and Grandma don't find out about this or else they'll drag me down to it with thoughts of joy instead of horror D:

I've already given my mom the talk about that (lol, "The Talk") and told her that she is more than welcome to my copy of PoM to find out just how little she would want to see it.
Then again, like Broadway ever comes here. srsly.

I need your voice to lift my own... I cannot do it alone...
Just the thought of a sequel makes me want to throw-up. I don't think Andrew realizes what may happen to the Broadway show after he makes a sequel! If the sequel is really bad, not as many people will go to see the original. Phantom is already insanely close to be taken off Broadway as it's been running for over 20 years. Phantom is on the TKTS booth which most likely means the show is in much less demand.
Also, after this sequel, those few people who didn't like the original or have never seen it may go to see PoM and decide they think it's the best! Then just think of how many creepy PoM Erik phans we'll have! The thought is sickening!
Of course we all will always be the true phans who have stuck to Erik's true form. (Though he has many.)
I really wish there was some way that we could get Andrew to see this, so he would understand his mistake! I really love Andrew's work, but this is really going too far...
Sadly I'll probably...eventually...amble down to the library when it's out on DVD and try watching it, just to see what ALW did with it...but alas it will probably be crap.
I can't even believe Andrew even thought of a sequel! Gaston Leroux's book ends with the words, "Erik is Dead." Sure there could be a sequel to the movie or play, but defiantly not the book. I bet any one of us could write a better version of the Phantom of Manhattan, or at least a better sequel for it.
Andrew really needs to consult his fans before working...tsk tsk tsk... I miss you. Where are you Angel?

Actually scratch that sequel to the movie...I just realized...that's not possible either! Christine is DEAD! And Raoul is an insanely old man...Even the words Phantom, of, the, Opera, and two, stuck in the same sentence together make me squirm! *sigh* At least I vented my anger somewhere. I miss you. Where are you Angel?

When/if Mr. Webber makes that sequel, I doubt I'll even acknowledge its existence.

As of December 2007, he is still serious. I did a quick google search, seems that he wants Forsyth to do th emajority of it and it may/may not be totally based off of PoM.

Two things I recently heard that increase my interest in the sequel by the tiniest smidgen: Rhydian might be playing the title role. If this actually happens, I am hella going to go see PoM. Rhydian!Erik would be SO DAMN HILARIOUS. Lord Froggy wants Sarah Brightman to play Christine again. This would also be pretty funny. Sarah can do no wrong in my view. I'd actually love to see how freaky this casting would be. I'm just trying to make the best of the situation right now and treat it as a big joke. sad
