She hated to see Tuomas leave, but the smell started to vanish soon afterwards and she found it easier to think without the thirst clouding her mind.

Damien chuckled remembering the memories, "Do not fret. Even ask Luciferius, I was often insatiable until he taught me to control myself before I was thrown out and threatened to become homeless. I am sure you will learn faster than I did, considering your power is greater than my own."

"Indeed." Luferius nodded to Damien. "Thirst takes us all at one time or another. Especially so when we are young and beginning to learn about our abilities. Damien has come far and has proven capable of many things."
Seeing that everything was in proper order, the Captain bowed once more to begin discussing what must be. "My queen, I know that you are close to this 'Ryn Kuromaru', but I must ask that trust the actions that we must take to subdue and bring him to justice. What was once only a charge of intruding is now one of murder. He has killed several of our guards and attempted harm against many others. If we do not act soon, who is to say what he may do next? Damien and I have seen him ourselves and the power that emanates from him is of Nyx."

Ari gave a small smile, comforted by Damien's words. As Luferius spoke however, the harsh realization of things began once more to make itself known.
"Are you certain that it was Ryn? There were many others that Nyx brought to the courtyard. Could it have been one of them?"

"There is no mistaking it. He is here somewhere inside the castle and I have little doubt that he is on his way here."

Feeling her heart sink, Ari looked down in thought before jumping up from the throne.
"I need to talk to him. I'm sure that he can explain this."
She started to walk to the doors.

In an instant Luferius stood in front of the young queen, blocking her from the door. "We cannot take that chance, my queen. The Royal Guards are trained and prepared for situations like this. You have my word that once he is found, you will have the opportunity to speak with him." With a firm but gentle hand, he led her back to the throne. "For now, we must keep you safe. Allow us to do our jobs."

"Please my queen, I could not live with myself if I did not do what I was trained to do. You must know that Ryn has killed several of our men. Some very dear to me as friends." Damien pleaded to her. "I am sorry your friend is lost to Nyx."

With a heavy sigh, Ari sat back down.
"I am sorry. I didn't want anyone to die. But please, just let me see him at least once. I need to see with my own eyes what has happened to him."

"We do not know what he'll do to you. If anything happened to you...we could not live with ourselves. Please understand the position you are in. Lives here are at stake. If you leave here with Ryn, who knows what Nyx will do to the guests remaining here. They will have no one to help defend themselves." Damien went on one knee with a head low. "I apologize my queen sometimes we must set aside our personal feelings for the welfare of others."

Ari cringed to think of the others in the kingdom being attacked by Nyx and her allies. Just seeing the chaos from the courtyard play back through her mind's eye was enough horror. Now as Damien knelt before her, she couldn't deny what an important position this was. Biting her lip, she nodded.
"I understand. I don't want to see anyone else hurt, and I will do what needs to be done to make sure that others are safe."
A few lose tears threatened to overflow, but Ari kept these in check.

Luferius bowed. "Thank you for understanding, my queen." Straightening up, he walked over to the entrance. "I will return shortly with news of the intruder. Damien, see to it that no one enters or leaves until I return." Giving a final bow, he departed.

As Crux watched these events play out, he stopped playing his tune and listened. Things seemed to be taken care of for the time being. All that was left now was to wait. Crossing to the large window, the servant looked out into the dark night below before turning to look at the others in the room. The atmosphere was one of tension, fear and sadness. Crux frowned and began a new tune on his flute. It was soft but carried with it an air of comfort and safety.

"Yes, sir." Damien nodded as he watched the captain leave. "My queen, I could not help but notice that you are somewhat uneasy around Luciferius. Is something wrong about him?"
