I've been thinking, in oblivion, you find money everywhere; in boxes, bags, tombs, inside woodland creatures...isn't that highly unsanitary?

Oh, Steffy, animals in Oblivion will sometimes have random items or gold. And we aren't sure why. Perhaps they ate them?

Well, if they ate them, then by killing them you were probably doing them a favor. Eventually the items they had eaten would have ripped apart their internal organs, causing them to die from internal hemorrhaging and sepsis. Not a pleasant way to die.
