hehe, i'm totally in Beijing right now. i'm at China's Women's University, actually. it's pretty nice, but a little far from anything i want to do. the students here are really nice. hopefully on saturday i can go shopping.

Captain: you said earlier something about a nice bookstore...i can't remember if you told me what it was or not. regardless....what's the name (if you know it)? i am wanting to go.

my Chinese class is very hard, but it's okay. i still need to do my homework XD.

i just went to see the great wall today. it's pretty neat.

i'll be here until sunday, then it's an 11 hour train ride to Xi'an.

i'll try to pop in again sometime laters.

@euclid: that IS a pretty nice peice of avi art, btw.

I don't like plane rides. I'm not sick but I do get headache..like motion sickness headache. It's ok if the plane ride is only short. I can't do anything on the plane..I can't read or anything, cause it makes me feel quesy, cause of the motion sickness thing. I can't sleep either cause it's just so uncomfortable. It feels so claustrophobic...if I feel ill there's nowhere I can go to escape it. On a bus or coach I can stop and get some air if I feel ill. I think it's just the pressure that gives me headache and makes me feel ill.

I have to take ginger pills or something else for motion sickness if I'm going on a long trip and plan to be able to read or draw. Same goes for going to amusement parks with roller coasters; I love riding on them, but I often can't just because I get so nauseous without taking something first.

@Kirio:
biggrin Thanks, luv! I like drawing my little guy... One of these days I'll develop his personality a bit more so that he's not just my messenger.

Oh no! Well, when you try to top the Holy Grail and Sean Connery with crystal skulls and Shia Le Beouf...

The Martian

Yes I would. It's not a bad film, it's entertaining, but at the price of cinema tickets today I'm not sure it was worth it. There are many people who loved it, but there are also just as many who don't like it. It's 50/50..I'd recommend seeing it because you might love it..

It just depends on whether you want it to be equally as good as the previous films..which I don't believe it is. It's good in it's own way but it's very different than the other movies, and I found it rather silly...a bit of a farce to be honest. the acting is good..even by Shia. Harrison is brilliant, mixing just the right blend of his old attitude with the changes of his age. The action is interesting and enjoyable..it's just the story..

Personally I think it's worse than ToD but there are thousands of people who really loved the new movie. There are plenty of hard-core Indy fans who like it..I just..didn't...
The story was silly...and the action, while enjoyable, didn't have a big peril factor..I was never on the edge of my seat excited..it felt very flat..which is why I didn't enjoy it..I like my films to be truly heart thumping films..

I know what you mean, Shadow, I know what you mean. A good movie is one with a few thrills in it. If it's too predictable, it's not as enjoyable.

exactly. I think I'm griping about it too much though, it wasn't that bad a film. Just not what I was hoping for. apparently fans are saying it's much more enjoyable the second time you see it, because you're not expecting too much from it, so you appreciate what's there.

shadow:
when you have no choice but to fly back and forth between china and the u.s., you just have to deal with it sometimes. if that's not enough, one time, i had to get back to america in time for school, so we had to take the plane from beijing to tokyo, tokyo to san fransisco then san fransisco to detroit. why? because all direct flights from beijing to detroit is cancelled so they can save money, and that was the only way to get back home. that was painful 26 hours....

fliker:
just ask anyone in beijing where the biggest bookstore is cause it is the biggest book store that china has. they should know what you're talking about and take you there. all the books there are legit. you'll totally love it.

actually, i'm out of beijing now. i didn't get a chance to go to the bookstore. besides...i don't know how to say "bookstore" in Chinese, lol.

I hope to find one that's similar in Shanghai (my professor said there's one there, too).

I'll be home next thursday. I'm not quite ready to go yet! XD
