The Bible never says men can't have pre-marital or extra-marital sex as far as I know, but women aren't allowed. You said earlier about women being exicuted for not being a virgen when the marry, actually it was worse than that because they were only judging on wheather or not she had a hymen, and as we know now, there are multilple ways to be a virgen and not have a hymen (no, I'm not talking about tampons).
Here are the verses I know of in Today's English Version:
Leviticus 18:23
No man is to have sexual relations with another man; God hates that.

Leviticus 20:13
If a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a disgusting thing and shall both be put to death.

What does that have to do with anything?
I have that CD, Billie Holiday sings it but I can check the writer.

I forgot that Paul wrote a letter to the Romans. XD No wonder I didn't get that extra Credit..

And yeah, according to the opposition against marriage they said that there was a law at that time that said if two men were participating in same-sex intercourse then they'd both be executed.

I was just thinking if church and state are at an inevitable collision and some way the government can impose laws or any other regulations based on the morality of the "religious" community, then I'd like to go somewhere else. Cause apparently since maybe 76% Americans are Christian all people should follow a bit what it says.

... How's the weather in New Zealand?

Ashram_VII

The fact they were Deists does not change the fact that the country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs.

To a certain extent perhaps, but it is not a good reason to let the prejudices of the Judeo-Christian beliefs ride roughshod over the rights of the citizens. This is one reason why there exists the seperation of Church and State. It's pretty much forcing those beliefs on the population for no better reason than the fact that several laws reflect other values of the faith. Flimsy and unconstitutional.

And I suppose the adhearance to God (the Creator) in the Declaration of Independence is of no consequence.

To gay marriage? You suppose correctly.

Spider_Jerusalem
It's been speculated that the word used for homosexuality in the Old Testament specifically means the practice of men keeping boys as slaves IIRC. Also, homosexuality was not understood as a sexual orientation until about the turn of the century thanks to the birth of modern psychology, so any references to homosexuality in the Bible rely on a very incomplete understanding of just what it is.

Links to the full documents, if you please. Most of the ones you gave were very vague and some even contradictory. I would have to read the documents in their entirety to form an opinion/conclusion.

You have the names of all the documents, I'm not doing your research for you.

Oh I was just asking since I have to be doing some oral interpretation of either 'Strange fruit' or 'The House I live in' in my Speech Class.

Edit: Thanks!

Blame Kag. She brought politics into the OT, now we have an infestation.

A few pages back Ashram justified being against gay-marriage for economic reasons and I would just like to say, that one could use economic reasons to support slavery. At some point, we need to think of people first.

I see. I'm just in it for equality.

I think gay marriage is a smoke-screen issue and doesn't need to be dealt with, but I'm a moderate so that's my solution to everything. xp
