Savage looked at her face, and said after a moment, "That's a sin, to hide such a beautiful face from the world." He meant it, too. That wasn't just him talking. She WAS beautiful.

Sapphire felt herself blush, and had no way of hiding it this time. "Nothing good ever seems to happen when it's off." she replied with a small smile, glancing up at him.

Sapphire's smile fell a bit and she looked down at the steak in front of her. "Well, Sapphire doesn't have quite as many problems as she does whithout the mask. Someone finds out who's under it, and I can't really get away from anything. Sapphire has problems, she can hide. They know who I am, well I'm lucky if I can repair the damage done."

Sapphire smile grew slightly and she turned her attention back to her steak. "Right..." she said, slipping her gloves off and placing them over her mask on her lap.
Huh, maybe she was being a little overly cautious earlier..

Savage picked up his knife and fork and got to work on his own steak. As he cut off a piece, he saw a little pink, but no blood. Good, they got it right. He ate slowly, every once in a while taking a sip of the brandy. It wasn't bad, but nowhere near the best he'd ever had. He didn't talk, not wanting to get in between Sapphire and her much-needed food.

Sapphire tried to eat as neatly as she could, as much as she just wanted to just tear into it. The steak was as good as it smelled, and she was beyond hungry. The brandy she hadn't had in...months? At least not any as good as this. If nothing else, this was the best meal she'd had in a long time.

Savage chuckled, and said, "I know you're hungrier than that. Here, let me fill you in on something. I was born around 50,000 B.C. Manners were non-existent. I can guarantee you, you won't do anything I've never seen before. And if you're still hungry after, there's still the dessert." He was trying to get her to loosen up more, and if he could convince her to just eat like the ravenous human being she was, there wasn't much she would find herself unable to do, as long as he didn't take offence to her eating like that, which he wouldn't because he hadn't been lying.When he was born, there was no such thing as table manners, or such things as tables, for that matter.

Sapphire glanced up at him a moment and smiled slightly. "Bit of a habbit." she said. Though the squares of meat she cut were about twice the size she had been cutting them. The desert was a good thing, she wasn't sure the steak was going to do her. Which usually it would.

Not wanting her to feel too awkward, he started cutting off pieces around the same size as what she was. He drank some of the brandy, enjoying the flavor, but still mentally lamenting the quality. "Don't feel bad, Sapphire. Like I said before, you can relax tonight. Forget what my look-alike has done to you. Don't worry about what troubles might await you tomorrow. Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why it's called the present. Here, allow me to make a toast." Savage lifted his glass up a little above eye level. "To tonight, for it is times like this that make make the bad times a little more bearable."

Sapphire tried to finish the bite she had in her mouth and listened as Savage spoke. Her smile returned as she lifted her own glass the same height as his. "To tonight... she replied.
Maybe she really was being paranoid earlier. So far so good. She was actually enjoying this. And he did seem...well she wished she knew just which side he was on.
