You really want me to ruin the surprise? ((I'm totally going to ruin the surprise))
Okay~! So all the pirate captains make a banner including their jolly roger and whatever symbols they want. Marines/civilians/bounty hunters can get in on it too by making their own banners. This has to be 100% custom made! Either drawn by hand or on the computer with paint or photoshop or whatever. But each crew submits a banner and I_Wrestled_A_Bieber_Once or I will put up a recruitment thread. The first post will link to the guild and have the plot and mess; but the second will have the contestants for the contest! A poll will be put up to see which is the best banner and how many members were attracted by which banners. The banner with the most votes/members attracted will win!! And what's the prize you ask? 40,000 gaia gold! (um... feel free to donate and up the prize...) Of course, there will be consequences for cheating and rules-- and I'm donating the 40,000 gg prize, so don't expect me to give that up easily! I'm in the running too!
I don't know if it sounds stupid or not, but it's a good way to (a) promote the crews and characters we have here and (b) get more members. As well as an easy way to make gold (well, in the event I lose, it's a good way for me to lose gold). But I dunno; what do you guys think?
Also, I know Bieber was complaining about making recruitments that she was too busy to bump and mess, so I thought if there were people in it for gold, it'd be bumped a lot more sweatdrop

sound like a good idea i mean but that would make everyone a captain or a Marine and no one would want to be in a crew just my thought though

I don't quite follow. If you're saying that people would join just to get in the contest for the gold, I've already thought that out. There's could be a submission period where people can submit their banners. There will be no late entries, and once the contest starts, there's no changing banners or mess like that. The submission period would be like... a week long and I/Bieber could make a thread for the submissions/acceptances and mess.

I'd chip in another 40,000 for that prize. A recruitment drive would do well to help me figure out which group I want to join in on.

I actually did look at the banner contest....but I have no skills at banner-making, and don't know anyone who does (else I would refer them. D: )
