I yank Layla back around and speak loud enough for the others in in our group that are present to hear. "Well excuse me, princess! It seems that I should help you to understand why I am the way I am. So listen well." I pause as I try to find the word I'm lookign for. before I continue. "Unlike you, who have lived a largely sheltered life of riches, nobility, and holier-than-though attitudes with people catering to you, jumping up to serve your every need, cooking for you, cleaning for you, doing your laundry, providing you with pretty clothes, and keeping up the lavish mansion that you've lived in probably since you were born, I've been on my own since a very young age. I didn't grow up in nobility. My parents were low-middle class. We were always pressed for money. I didn't get to have every object of my desire. I witnessed my parents' violent and bloody murder when I was 8. After that, I had to fend for myself, find shelter by myself, beg for food if I couldn't earn it, teach myself everything from reading and writing to math to fighting, and try just to survive in a city with no place to live and where pretty much no one wanted to have anything to do with an orphaned child much less adopt them. Because of this, I tend not to get along well with a lot of people, especially people like you who grew up living the high life and flaunt it around. It seems I'm only able to get along with people who have experienced what I have, like Irene, and those like my boyfriend who actually saved me from dying of starvation and hypothermia just as I blacked out. So don't act all high and mighty so easily around me, or else there will just be more attitude from me. Trust me, my reactions to attitudes like yours are REALLY difficult for me to control. Are we clear?"

I simply give out a yawn and turn away, returning to Xiao and taking her up to the bar to get our wine. It's clear to me that even trying to convince this girl to think with anything besides brute force was pretty much pointless, so I wasn't about to waste my time and breath on her when I could be spending it with more enjoyable company, like Xiao, or pretty much anyone else in our party; or the room for that matter.
"I'd like a glass of red wine, please!" I say to the barkeep with a smile in a pleasent tone.

"Are you with the red army?" Willow asked, her tone suddenly serious.

I ignore the people leaving the tavern and instead look around to see why everyone is so excited and to see if there are any open seats by people I recognize.

As Nyx simply walks off, I shrug and walk over to where Layla and Xiao were. "Mind sharing some of that wine there?" I say with a smile.

I step aside from the door to let Nyx outside and then walk over to Layla, Leina, and Xiao, and take an empty seat.

"Hey, I'd love it!" I say to Leina. I reach my hand into my coinpurse and palm three silvers in my hand.
"I'd like to thank you for jumping in back there, I'm glad to see we're on much better terms now, my friend!" I say gratefully.
"Could I perhaps bother you for a little bit of assistance? A certain cat decided to mess up my dress, and because of my wings, I have a hard time tying the laces on the back. Would you mind helping me?" I ask, motioning my head towards Xiao upon talking about said cat.

I once again simply ignore Nyx, even to the point of sipping my wine during the middle of her rant. Her actions were really just making her look bad in front of everyone, and as such, it really wasn't my problem. I look back to Xiao and Leina, as if ready to have a conversation of some sort.
