Well if it isn't a voice from the past. This holding down the fort thing was getting burdensome.

November draft was published. The new submissions thread is here:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11221573

We have a nice number of submissions, not a lot, but a nice number, as well as a few reviews, so that section is set.

I have the blank and seasonal draft all set up, but it is completely empty. As in I haven't done anything but make it look all pretty and empty. If we're to have a Best of Issue, voting needs to commence ASAP. So... I was going to try dragging myself here to do something on it. So we could vote.

Nice to see you. Having a Merry Christmas? Or a... Happy Holiday, whatever. Point is I hope you're happy, so... quibbling about it won't make much difference. ^^ Back to work!

Oh, and to help me:

Could someone gather a few reports for the Neighborhood Watch? I think someone mentioned maybe doing longer reports, which could works as long as they aren't too long and differ enough from a column-style piece. We can have individual reporter-styles that differ. I open to ideas.

Also, I've been forced to go scouting for poems this issue and have so far PMed two people. If anyone here can write a good poem, preferably not anything too dark or dreary since it's a happy season, feel free to post, because otherwise we have no poetry. At all. Like, 0. Can't exactly depend on scouting to work with such short notice.

If it doesn't work, we'll do a special re-cap, where we post old poems a second time. Something.

This aside, I'm going to set up the Booth and then go to bed. Everyone should go vote on the prose pieces that are posted in the draft. There's a nice number there.

Jaho has a column to write in 5 days, otherwise we're without one.

Mm... nothing too special this issue, except the whole graphics change and the theme.

...Happy New Years!

I can try getting a few things for the Watch, if you want. Maybe the Santa Event and the layout? I was thinking of doing something about the layout(more specifically, what people think of it), but because of the lack of responses, I may have to let that one lie.

Those would be perfect! We would just need some articles or ads before the last day of the month, which is publishing day.

I've got one reply on my scouting so far, and it's a poem that made me think of all the hurricane victims this year. Posted in the draft now, and I'm going to add it to the Booth for voting.

As for the poem, not saying this is good or anything, but since you asked...

The children, asking Santa
'Bout all the gifts they'll get
(Nothing could be farther from the truth)
The parents, with winks
And conspiratorial smiles,
(If only they knew)
The light-laced tree on
Christmas Day
(Real or fake? Probably fake)
The white-winged angel
Placed upon the top
(At all religious? Pfuit. As if)
The heavy boots echoing
On the tiled kitchen floor
(How did he find me?)
The jingle of sleigh-bells
Spiked with a crash
(What did you do now, Santa?)
The splinters of an ornament
A truly-fallen angel
(The irony of it all)
A wicked gleam in Santa's eyes
A chuckle and a Ho, ho, ho
(The last words I'll ever hear)

Great news, I've decided to personally oversee the elimination of 99% of the human population. What colour do you think would make nice uniforms for WWIII? Personally I'm thinking a light blue, maybe cyan?

I thought cyan was a green-blue, not a light blue. Besides, I find myself more partial to red. And red might be so much more practical. Just think of all the stains and things that you could see on a light blue.

Yeah, but I don't like red all that much.

Title? And if you want a pen name, just tell me. This will make it three poems, which is just enough. Good!

Not too much time left. Everyone should go vote!

There isn't a title, really, as I just typed it up when you asked for poems. As far as names go, just call me Shadow or Lilly, Lilly being from my old account. And sorry if this is an incovienence, but I edited the poem a little bit.

And Jahoclave, weren't you just wearing almost all red?
