Xandra kept walking. "That's what I figured, and I'm pretty confident that I could have escaped from him, even if I'd let him catch me. I'm not scared of him, but that was pretty sick." She lied the last sentence smoothly, and didn't feel guilty at all. She was an assasin, for her, lies were nothing.

Idiot Xandra thought as Conner walked back towards the Averial with a confidence she thought was simply appaling. She mounted nightDancer and trotted away, knowing that she was safe, for the moment. Maybe Conner and his friends wouldn't die too fast, and by her time to get away.

Conner walks back and yells for the Averial "Hey you!...You're gunna tell me what you wanted with the girl...Don't make me bust some skulls!" and as angry as he sounded saying this he had a small smile on his face.

Aria looked up at the staff wielder, a beaming smile on her lips as her eyes conveyed approval. She liked a man who thought along the same lines as she did. Perhaps he might even be persuaded to join their mercenary team; she could appreciate the advantage of someone with a quick mind, especially if he had the hands to go with it. A short nod, and she was looking back at the fight, studying the blur of movement with her arms crossed under her breasts.
"Great minds think alike, Clavian...yes, that was more or less my thought process. You want in?"
The sudden rush from the Avariel, and the dooming series of attacks that made the child's body slump like a sack of potatoes, made her wince. Pity moved over her features, and she shook her head to herself. Killing children. What a crap-sack this guy was. As soft and melodious as her voice was, there were hints of stone underneath when she spoke again.
"I wouldn't mind an extra set of hands in taking this guy down."
Aria looked over at the sound of a familiar voice, only to see the elf who'd been bouncing around earlier with bad vino make his way past them and up to her quarry. The elven archer's eyes went wide.
"Oh you stupid son of a goat! Nyrrgh, piece of tol na'atma..."
Her cursing was rattled off in what sounded like a mixture of elven and troll. It was as effective as any sailor could hope to contribute, even if strange coming from so petite and dainty a woman. Reaching out, she shot across the short span between them, seized the back of the kid's collar and hauled him away.
"Don't be a hero! Did you see what he just did to that boy? You don't have a chance in Hades!"
Frowning in a way that made her look more concerned than angry, she gave the elf a little shake.
"You know the definition of a hero? It's someone who gets everyone else killed. Do me a favor, and wait this out with us. We can't move till the time is right."

With a slite chuckle in his voice he says "I know the real definition of hero...And its no where near your's, Besides trust me on this I know what I'm doing..." then he walks back over to the Averial and says "Now where were we?...Oh yeah, tell me what you want with the girl!"

Clavian dragged his hand over his face, amazed at how oblivious the kid was. Despite Aria's dire warnings, and having seen first-hand what his opponent was capable of, the young fool was still determined to face the Avariel.
The line between bravery and sheer stupidity is indeed a narrow one, then... Clavian smirked at the curses and oaths uttering from Aria's mouth; he had to hand it to her, she had a way with words, alright. He shrugged and pulled his hood back, shifting both his stance and grip on his staff. Now we wait to see who blinks first.

The black mist slowly started forming into a humanoid shape and solidifying. what this was, noone knew but all could feel chills up thier spines just from looking at it. Unfortuatly Damien had otehr thoughts on his mind and didnt notice the shape. When the earthbound hame up to him and attempted to force him to answer some question he had no clue what he was talking about but he did smell bad wine on him.
"I think now is the time Earthbound that you learn your place and leave me be. Return when you can make sense you drunken buffoon. I am curently not in the mood to humor you or your antics. i have no idea who this girl your talking about is but i do know that if you stand in my way pestering me with nonsense much longer you will meet the same fate and my ex student over there." The rage and grief in his voice were subtle and not obvious to many, only those who knew what a student-teacher bond was like could possably understand. he turned around at the last statement to motion twards the body to finnaly notice the black mist. The look of shock on Damiens face replaced all emotions he may or maynot have had before, only to be replaced with pure terror upon realizing what was happining before him. the only words uttered out of his mouth were barly audible but could still be picked up by those closest to him. "Gramath."

Striding forward as the boy fell, the Captain reached Damien's side and stopped. The look on his face as his student died...oh Light. Reaching out, she placed a hand on his shoulder for comfort. But even as she did, his face morphed into a look of horror. Tarma's head jerked around to look at what he was staring at. The murky mist roiled like oily filth, and something about it made the hackles rise on the back of her neck. Gramath, he'd uttered. What under the Gods were they to face now?!
"What is this, Damien?"

"That, is the Demigod of destruction, Gramath." he said terrified. it becomes obvios to the civilians that they had better leave now before they get casught up in this dark presence. the dark mass flickers once and the surrounding shadows are ripped from thier forms and converge on the location of a human heart. the body of gale seems to disintigrate and form the flesh and garments of the dark amss that now looks more huan than spectre. the revival complete, the man is on teh ground kneeling in a pool of blood. teh shadows creep up to form his cloak. as the man stands slowly everyone notices his skeletal arm.

Conner's hands were shaking, he could feel the danger growing, he looked over and saw Gale's sword "Thats it!...All i have to do is get that sword then I can take this guy easy!" he thought, then he foolishly ran over and grabbed the sword. Charging the Gramath he yelled "I HOPE YOU'RE READY FOR THIS ONE!!" then he lept into the air trying to come down with extream force on Gramath.

Through most of the fight smiley had been eyeing a yummy looking shopkeep that seemed quite nervios to be the object of attention for the hulking beast. However there was another elf annoying him He ignored it like one would a fly. However his hearing being a troll, was generally super human, And he heard his pet in trouble. "frisbee" would make for a good warning shot. Of course A Troll warning shot was a little bit different than the standerd definition of such. Usually a Troll warning shot would be aimed directly at the target. The concept was simple if you hit, the fight was over if not they were warned you were there. Troll logic was very simple if not twisted. For his size the troll was amazingly agile and quick, He made his way to the entrance of the square he had already guestimated the winged threats general location, so it was a quick visual chack and an large act grew wings of its own, launched like a missle from the tree trunk like arms of a small mountian. Smiley charged to get between the target and his pet. That flying annoyence was not to eat his pet, not if smiley had anything to do with it.

A great many things happened at once.
As Gramath began to form more fully, the swordswoman bellowed to her men to clear the square. The King's soldiers leaped into action, clearing the remainder of the city's people who had not already run in terror from the streets. The gawkers stood no chance against armed footsoldiers, and were forced back behind advancing ranks of grim-faced men.
At the baker's demands, Tarma turned to him with angry eyes, slapped his blade aside and pointed to the ranks of soldiers. An infantryman came to take the baker's arm and attempt to haul him away.
"Get the hell out of here before I cut you down myself!"
Wheeling, she drew her blade, and pointed it at the group who had clustered to her right. She recognized the elf she'd hired, knew the archer and the green mountain to be useful; if the old man beside the elf was of any use, it was too late to determine. Her bellow rang out again.
"If you and your companions don't haul your arses into that portal right now, I'll have your guts for garters!"
It was then that the elven boy took his wild leap. Acting on instinct, the Captain stepped in, parried the lad's blade before he made it more than a few feet off the ground, and drop-kicked him onto the pavement as Gale's sword skittered across the cobbles. Standing over him, the swordswoman's blue eyes burned like frozen hellfire, searing through to his marrow.
"Get. Through. That. Portal. NOW."
Grabbing him by his shirt, she hauled him to his feet and pushed him in the direction of the glowing red doorway. Gripping Damien's arm, knowing desperately that there was no time left to act anything but the defensive, she searched his face with her gaze before speaking urgently.
"Get them all to the White Tower. Keep them safe. Aid Liana, no matter what she asks, or how crazy it sounds. Go! Get out of here, now!"
She shoved him too, watched briefly to be sure every one of them could get away, then turned back to face Gramath's repungent form. They would escape, she knew, but only if Gramath could be kept from acting, could be distracted enough for them to make good their get-away.
So it came to this, she thought with bitter amusement as she planted her feet before the monstrous-appearance of the Dark God. Death was an old friend, one she'd danced with on the battlefield many times; till now, they'd always gone their separate ways with a smile, knowing they would meet again someday. She hadn't thought it would end this way, afraid and alone. So reached down into the core of herself, dug deep for her faith and raised her sword to do what any woman of her position would have done.
She closed her eyes, and prayed.
"I call upon the Gods to guide me. I ask that you shine your blessed Light on Aleron and her people. Break the dark and shatter this threat to our land. I ask for the courage to be steadfast; I ask that if my death be your will, that it pay the blood-price for Aleron's safety."
Calm descended on her like a warm blanket, and her words gained strength. Her eyes opened, and she looked upon Gramath, not with fear, but with acceptance.
"I stand ready now, as I ever will, against the coming of the Dark. I swear my blood, heart, and blade to the land of Aleron. It's people are my people; it's survival is my survival; it's prosperity is my prosperity. I stand guard against all evils, be they from within or abroad. By my Honor, I stand ready. Blessed Be Aleron in the eyes of the Gods."
