Xela/CubathShe was the very image of sleepiness, her hair only slightly tamed and her blouse not quite evenly buttoned up - not that many would notice with all of the excitement on the sands. Cubath watched her lifemate from the ledge she'd settled onto, eyes whirling with amusement. Farther up......getting closer... she hummed to herself as she reached out to Menyherth. Mine is ever not alert at the moment. Perhaps yours could scoop her up for her own good at this hour, she inquired before glancing back down to Xela again. She'd probably fall asleep on Cortun's shoulder, but it was what it was. ----- K'on/AlzarthKeep your eye on the horizons, Captain Karunia. There be dragons in these sands, Alzarth mused to the candidate, before sending her a wave of affection - no doubt from her father who had taken as close of a seat as he could find. K'on wanted to keep an eye out on his little ones, after all.

Candidate Jaiyce Western To the candiadte who had spoken to him he replied "As I'll ever be- tis my first hatching heh" And gave the guy a nod before turning to the hatching. He was stunned as the Brown Paw Print egg hatched to reveal the green held within it- it was the first dragon he'd ever seen born! He started to think fond thoughts as they candidates were trained to do, when the Olive green egg opened to reaveal twin golds- and even though he'd somehow known Killakeeths clutch would contain two golden queens he was still shocked- and stayed that way as the fight broke out. He couldn't help but think as the fight happened that it was like the brawls seen at RiverCrest, and that there was no way you could stop one really- you just had to let fight run itself out. But meanwhile the shy little Daisy Green was making her way towards the Candidates. Jaicye attempted to focus on this little green trying to find her way in the world and with an effort pushed the thoughts of fighting and rage brewing in the back of his mind away and thought about the purpose for being here, the beauty of welcoming new lives into the world.

When both dragonets came up for air, they were both ichor stained. The Green Olive gold was holding her sister down, hissing into her face. See? See what a wretch Green Olive was? But oh, Brown Paw Print was not done! She wriggled in her sister's grasp, snarling in her baby way up into her bigger sister's face. How DARE!
You will be still, the queen commanded, and to her horror and righteous indignation, Brown Paw Print was forced to be still. When the command took hold, the Green Olive queen began to clean herself carefully, watching her sister with a red eye.
You are cheating. If you weren't cheating, I'd be winning this fight, Brown Paw Print accused. However, she was still unable to move. Hissing in anger, she waited for someone, anyone to intervene. Or at least for her sister to get distracted.
Gay Flag blue had decided that this was his moment to shine. Hesitantly, he moved away from his sister's side, although she seemed quite protective of him, lifting a wing to hide him from their angry sisters. The other Green Olive gold had tired of the charade, and was making her rounds among the Candidates. It seemed that Blue Spotted egg had decided to roll, but not yet hatch.
Perhaps Green Olive would have a chance to meet some likely girls before anyone else came to bring drama to this show. Daisy sniffed delicately at one hand, and then the next, meandering hesitantly through the Candidates. Poor dear! Green Olive moved to escort her on her journey, giving each Candidate a measuring look as they passed.

Farellen's gut twisted when it was clear the twin fighting the green commanded her to stop, that wasn't fair... but at least it seemed like the Gold wasn't going to continue the fight, so far was merely holding her sister still.
~~~~~~~~~~
Helane blinked, fist clenched against her mouth at the dramatics of the hatchlings, she wanted to DO something but ... no, she couldn't be banned again... she held herself still but it was a fight.
~~~~~~~~~~
Serfie took a step forwards involuntarily as the gold commanded her sister to be still, she stopped, forcing herself not to go any further, that just wasn't FAIR..... not only was that gold a BULLY... she was a cheater too.... Serfie made tight fists, dirty fingernails digging into her palms as she fought the urge to do or say something, she'd been told to behave, she knew what she was supposed to do.... but her stomach was in knots as she fought against herself.

Heart melting a little at the way that Jacomus looked at him, seeming still so ashamed of himself, Casgar slid smoothly into the pirate's lap. "So, what did I miss?" For indeed, there seemed to be quite a lot going on on the Sands. Settling back against his mate, the Headman surveyed the scene before them. It seemed that one of the twin (take that, High Reaches) golds had ordered her sister to settle down. Perhaps that wasn't... the best plan. Then again, it was baby logic at work, here. Didn't she think her sister would be even more angry when finally released?

Rio"Absolutely precious," Rio agreed as Nuamia made her way over, "Though I do worry for them." It was both difficult to watch the fighting sisters and difficult to tear his gaze away - while it could be that there was right and wrong on both sides, it was hard not to side with the smaller of the two. And not only did the gold have the advantage of size, she also had to advantage of command, which tipped the conflict solidly into unfair when it was used. "But that blue does look a fine fellow. Maybe he can help?" But hopefully not find himself hurt for his trouble! The little green from the Daisy Egg was making her way around, joined by the more peaceable gold, and Rio smiled for them, managing his concerned feelings and doing his best to project warmth instead. The Gay Flag blue moved away from his twin, and the young man smiled even more brightly. You go, little blue! And good on his sister for looking out for him.

FISHER
Oh, was it over? It seemed like the golden dragonet had done something, something that likely wasn't good or fair or whatever else the small green seemed to be saying. At least it ended with only some cuts and nothing serious, which the teen supposed everyone ought to be thankful for. Her eyes moving from the fighting pair, she glanced at the timid green who'd been moving and her golden escort.
"Kinda amusing to see the opposite happening here." Amusing, but good. Fisher offered the duo a warm and friendly smile, wishing them well on their travels. Their lifemates had to be out there and she hoped the dragonets would find them without issue; whomever got the gold was sure to be an amazing gal, and whomever the green looked too certainly had to be vibrant.
Or whatever those thoughts she was told to think added to. "See any folks you ladies like yet? I'm not from 'round here but I do know some faces. Plenty'a good fish in this barrel."

Melhaika
He wanted to go over, to take care of the fierce green... but all the candidates were TOLD, and he wasn't going to go against the rules, not here not now, not when there were more lives in the balance than just his own. So he did what he could sending waves of affection, support and indignation for the little dragonet. Life wasn't fair, he knew it better than most, but he admired the spirit the green showed, knew she was a survivor and would go far.
Lelte
She wanted to rush forward, both to see and help the little green, and to be there as daisy green and the calmer golden twin came around to see the candidates, but she held her place. The dragonets were making their rounds so she would be patient, waiting for her turn to be judged. In the meantime she would radiate her happiness, excitement and wonder to all the babies, hoping to do something good and right...

Vesden | High Reaches | He/HimThat was that, then. Seemed like the queen had put the little green in her place. He winced at that wording even has he thought it, that green had as much spirit as anyone on the sands right now. He actually felt a little bad for her being stopped like that, she was clearly still angry. Was she even stopping of her own accord? Queens had power over other dragons, but he wasn't sure that extended to baby queens like these. Whatever was happening, poor little green, but it was best she didn't hurt anyone. The fight stilled, Vesden felt safer having a look around at the rest of the hatchlings again. The hesitance of the gay flag blue was adorable and he sent some encouraging thoughts his way, he was such a cute little thing and he and his twin had been among Vesden's favorites at the touching. He was glad they were staying away from the fighting. The rolling of the blue spotted egg was also exciting. He was very interested in that one, it'd had such a deep mind feel when he'd met it. He held his breath a moment before it stopped moving, not yet it seemed. That's alright, take your time little one!

Aryale
Aryale felt a knot in her chest as the little green was forced to stay down, her sister asserting her dominion. It was better to not fight and hurt each other more, but.....No, whatever other thoughts - opinions - she had on the actions of the sisters, she smothered them.
Nice thoughts, nice thoughts.
You're both upset - what can I do to help? she asked hopefully, still radiating nothing but warm thoughts, good thoughts. She would have loved to get to see one of them up close if they came with friendly intentions. If teeth or claws were involved she had every plan to duck and cover.
----
Matotoka
Matotoka had never seen a gold's command used in a way that wasn't used to calm an injured dragon in Threadfall. Something about it didn't feel right to him....but he had gotten fairly used to twisting his personal feelings into their place whenever Matokichi stated the law and made things painfully clear.
What is the prize for winning? he thought to himself, mostly. Both of them had all of their undivided attention. Though it was impossible to miss the hesitant little green that was investigating all of the candidates - especially when her big sister joined her.
Same with the blue that was being accompanied by his twin sister.
-----
Papys
"Fightin' to hurt is no fun," Papys noted out loud, though his grin didn't falter. When Daisy passed by he turned his hand palm-up to offer a better sniff but made no gesture to reach out or touch.
She sure was a cutie!
The little blue with his twin sister seemed to have a little protector as well. How nice! You'll keep him nice and safe, hmm?

TETH
Teth had....not liked that tone of voice the fighting gold had used, and a wave of disapproval tinged his expression as he spoke to her. Did you really need to talk to her like that???? A gold who was unafraid to use her authority so fresh from shell could cause problems, especially in a Weyr as laid back as Western - and especially with a father who fretted and worried as much as Teth did. Green bean, are you okay????? Do you need me to come over to you???? Even if he wasn't supposed to move it didn't mean Teth wasn't going to attempt to comfort where he could. Golden sprout, you should really apologize!!! You're both brand new and I love you and!!! Mistakes happen!!!
Orange and yellow was starting to tint Teth's normally robust blue eyes, and even F'ell was starting to shift where he stood with unease. That green dragonet was angry. Teth, don't push them. His words were not quite a warning, though he did sound nervous in his own right. The last thing he wanted was for a body count to happen at this hatching - Teth would never forget it nor forgive himself and F'ell didn't want that for his dragon. He didn't care for many things on Pern, but there was nothing he wouldn't do to ensure Teth's happiness.
My babies......please just...!!! Be happy today!!!! It was impossible to miss how sorrowful Teth sounded, even with that time flicker of hope at the edges of his words.

Sorsha The fight between the green and gold was seemingly over, as the little queen had moved to groom herself. Sorsha noticed other dragonets begin to make their way through the Candidates, and with a deep breath she stood still, thinking happy welcoming thoughts again as she watched them move out of the corner of her eye -- especially the little green being escorted by the other gold.
Tokki Oh good, things seemed to be settling down. With a sigh of relief Tokki resumed paying attention to the other baby dragons, watching them wander and sniff amongst the Candidates. He hoped things continued to be relaxed and happy.

When her father's voice entered her head with such disapproving thoughts, the little queen gave a cheep of dismay and confusion. But... she had only been doing what she thought was right! Someone could have gotten hurt! The Green Olive gold called to her twin sister, who glanced back her way. Hesitant to leave Daisy, yet wanting to console her sister who had only done as they'd both agreed, she stood still for a moment.
Then, when it seemed the queen was stymied, little Daisy reached up to nuzzle her sister, as if to say, 'It's all right.' The pair looked at each other for a long moment, before Green Olive reached down to nudge her head lightly against the little green. Satisfied that Daisy would be all right, Green Olive went to join her twin, whose eyes had greyed significantly.
What was wrong?
Brown Paw Print green whipped to her feet the instant she was released, and swatted her sister with all of her might and-
Be. Still. Distressed or not, Green Olive was unrelenting.

Vesden | High Reaches | He/HimOkay, maybe it wasn't done yet. She was relentless! Vesden had to admit he was growing fond of the unshakable green despite how worried he was about the situation. He really hoped she and her siblings would come out of this alright.

Candidate Aelyx : Western : She/HerShards and shells, look at all this. Aelyx's heart went out to all the babies on the sands right now. Those fighting, and those who were simply doing as they felt they ought. Poor dears, all of them. Every one had right to their emotions, and hopefully? When they found their own, everything would calm down. She sent all the lovely little creatures as much warmth and love as she could spare, pressing in to Huarwar's side in thought. Candidate Wren : Western : He/HimThat poor Green. Wren was sympathizing with Brown Pawprint, if he were to be honest. However, his gaze kept flicking about the sands. How many hatchlings was it now? He'd lost count in the chaos. Fingers ran over the ink of his tattoo, hidden beneath his robes. He really should be keeping better count.
