[Darwin : Citadel : Council Room]

It didn't take much to know how reluctant Zachary was to this abrupt turn of events. Still, Darwin had little choice on the matter of who would assist and who couldn't. With all that was happening around the world, the C.E.C. Had been spread thin. Now, with this new problem on his hands involving his own subordinates not rushing to the aid of their fellow comrade. Investigations needed to be conducted. Unfortunately they would have to wait, as the problems in china were another more immediate matter.

Rising from his seat the headmaster guided his eyes over each member of the council. “So it is settled then. For now, Nicole will provide what help she can. Until one of us is able to relieve that support with a more suitable force. Agreed?” he explained.

The entire room went into a unified acknowledgement as each individual present preceded to stand. Darwin hated having to leave everything like this. But he was needed in china, since the moral boost would prove useful to those smart enough to help quell the riots. In fact if it wasn't for this meeting. He and the rest of his entourage would already be there.

Presenting himself into a more commanding pose, Darwin nodded to the everyone. “Then, this meeting is adjourned until further notice. You are dismissed.”

Everyone nodded in response before filling out through the entrance. Feeling a tap upon his shoulder, the headmaster turned his attention to two of the three individuals who always had been a reliable source of company. Dune and Barrage both stood at strict attention awaiting to carry out whatever order their charge would present them with. Darwin understood their reasons for this and acted accordingly. “Summon Alcon, we will be leaving in a few minutes. I will meet you at the shuttle.”

The numbers had dwindled in the short time the pair had been here, and the recent act brought on was so riveting, that it shocked everyone left in the room. What the boy in the coat had done was inhuman, to say the least. His overwhelming power to not only match, but outsize, his opponent's strength seemed like something of a superhero.

Sera, astounded, along with the rest of the brutes, simply watched as Jack had gone man to man in an intense fistfight, but soon, the silence was broken as a thief jumped at the boy, ready to take him out.

"Not on my watch!" Sera swiftly kicked her leg out to the side, slamming it into the guy's gut and stopping him mid-flight. The thief landed on his a** before Sera brought the butt of her gun down on the thief's head, dealing rather minor damage, but dazed him enough for her to continue. The follow-through was swift, as Sera leapt straight for the brute, shooting two others that decided to join the fray before swiftly bringing her foot up, catching the man's chin and effectively snapping his head backward. Bones crunched from the recoil and another baddie was down. For good measure, however, Sera shot her latest victim as soon as she landed, and he toppled to the floor. "Bunch of pansies, if you ask me."

"What was that?!" An enraged bully asked, pounding a fist into an open palm as he advanced. Sera simply looked the man dead in the eye before raising her gun and firing off a round, obliterating part of his chest, as another round dove deeper and punctured some blood vessels, as gooey bits of flesh and organ splattered out from the crevice. The man's now corpse simply toppled onto its back.

Sera blew the smoke that rose from the barrel. "Like I said."

The screams had lessened, but there was still danger in the streets. Rumbling came, rhythmic and booming. There was no mistaking it. The town was doomed. The people knew their time was limited, but as long as the titanic beast remained, there would be no time to relax. How just one beast could inflict so much fear was astronomical. But no. These beasts didn't inflict this kind of fear alone, no. It was the fact that the beasts were plentiful, and seriously unwelcome.

More rumbling. That distinct howl, a call the citizens knew well. It either found another victim, or it was calling to the others in the sector. No matter when that noise was emitted, it brought the same message; Death.

"Mommy..."
"We'll be safe." the mother in question patted her daughter's head, and silently shushed the child, so as not to make any noise and attract the attention of the beast. The two embraced tightly, not wanting to get separated. More rumbling. It came their way. They would be the next target; it was only a matter of time. The daughter buried her face into her mother's chest, as the mother's face dripped with sweat, fear ever apparent on her face.

The rumbling came closer. Closer. Louder. The distance closed immensely, until finally it stopped.
Right outside the door of their small house.
The mother cringed, gripping her daughter tightly. She knew it very well. They were its next meal.
But suddenly the rumbling continued. Was the beast moving on further? Curious, the two lessened their grip, and looked into each others eyes. This was strange. Did they go unnoticed?

"Mommy?"
"Shh!"
Suddenly the roof of their house was torn off, as the beast had grabbed it in its gargantuan hand. The sick face of a Goliath greeted them as it let out a grunt, gave a slight smile, and reached for the two. They screamed for a little while as the mother forcefully pushed her daughter away.
"Run! Run as fast as you can!" sh instructed her daughter, getting snapped up by the massive hand.
"Mommy!"
"Just run!" but the beast didn't care. It raised the mother up to its mouth before letting go, gobbling up its little snack.
The girl stood there before realizing the danger. In a vain attempt, she turned and fled, while also attracting the attention of the beast, which turned and pursued. The girl didn't stop, huffing and puffing for air as she ran. Only when she glanced back at the beast did she trip on a rock. But there was no escape. The beast reached down for the girl, not caring for the screams she emitted.

[Jack : Steel Town : Steel Meals]

It was quite unusual for someone like Sera to have his back. To Jack, who had been on his own for many month, now having someone engage in battle alongside him seemed almost ridiculous. The girl in the purple shirt was someone whom he had just met. But now that he thought about it even during all the anarchy that erupted around. She had no real reason to assist in fighting besides trying to defend the waitress.

The room was less occupied now then earlier, thanks to both he and the young woman taking part in the clean up. However, as Jack took the time to count heads, a single individual belonging to the gang who seemed shaken to the core, hastily stumbled out the entrance. Making the head count even less and allowing passage for none other the sheriff of Steel Town himself. Springs.

The man stepped inside with a stride of pride and rage that didn't seem entirely possible for a human to gain as two other individuals, one of which the mimic recognized instantly as Douglas, followed suit their weapons ready.

Slipping two finger to his mouth the sheriff fired off a loud whistle, demanding the attention of the entire room and halting the fight completely. His brow was narrowed, his eyes, hard like steel. The same look Jack had to admit only spelt one thing for whoever it was meant for. Death. In a matter of seconds a revolver was drawn and with it six rounds ejected. Jack sighed, waiting for himself to take a hit. But it never came.

Loud thuds, brought the realization back to him as the mimic looked over to Sera who had been in the thick of the fight only to now be standing tall over the last few bodies that remained. Glancing back, Jack observed the Sheriff who swiftly spun his revolver, holstering it. A sly smile on his face.

“If ah told ya once Little miss, Ah told ya a thousand times! Learn to use that dead eye trick Ah taught ya. Its quick, effective and clears a room fast! A bullet for each man in continued succession and here Ah figured you had actually remembered that one back when Ah was working at PAAC. But then again you always thought it was boring. Always wanting to go out on your own. Even though you were just a little one at the time.”

Douglas, stepped past the chatter box that was a cowpoke and directed his attention to searching the entire room. He was looking for something. Or someone. “Ava?” he called, a slight tinge of worry apparent on his face. Jack noticed this, was that young woman important to him? Out of the back room the raven haired waitress timidly stepped into view. The look of fear on her face slowly fading into a look of joy.

“Dad!” she cried, as the two embraced. Jack stood there slightly surprised. So that was his reason for staying a bit longer? A daughter. But where was his wife?

Sera didn't expect the Sheriff to interrupt their little party with the thugs, but as soon as the man walked in, he killed off the rest of the goons. Damn, was he fast!

His next words were directed at the young woman. Boy, were those days something. But it had been a while since the Sheriff had left PAAC, so she didn't remember all that much. However, since his mentioning of it, brought those memories back. She didn't realize how headstrong she was. But whether she paid attention or not, he taught her how to fend off foes, and that stuck with her the most.

Sera let out a small, light-hearted laugh as she rubbed the back of her head. "Hehe, I guess I was, wasn't I?" she put on a smile to help lighten the mood. Just how much could she remember that the sheriff taught her way back when? But she didn't get time to delve into her own world, as she spotted Ava cautiously coming out of the kitchen. When she wrapped her arms around Douglas, it was a bit of a shock to Sera. She's his daughter? the notion was acceptable, but she had no idea of it.

Sera then walked up to Jack. "Not bad, Red Eyes." of course she was just using that nickname in a comforting tone and meant nothing by it. "Nice finisher there too, I haven't seen anybody do that before!"

[Jack : Steel Town : Steel Meals]

It took a few moments for Jack to register that someone had commented on his hand work. He had been far to occupied with the sudden revelation standing in his presence to even acknowledge Sera's words. The reason for this was Douglas. The aged caravan driver had family in the wastes, which Jack along with the help of Sera had technically saved. However, this whole situation could have easily gone the way of tragedy and that made the mechanical man doubt himself heavily. Hearing the heavy foot falls of the sheriff break his observation of Douglas and his daughter, Jack looked to the body of the giant gorilla-like brute on the floor near him.

“Ya, thanks... your pretty skilled yourself.”

Kneeling down to a partially shattered syringe next to his feet, Jack picked it up carefully and inspected the small bit of reddish fluid that still remained. He couldn't identify the substance since being a prototype only gave you half the abilities of a finished product. But he was positive on what kind of effect the drug could produce. Glancing to his left, Sheriff Springs had joined the Jack's little inspection.

“That there, is a Stim Popper. A nasty type of drug that, while being able to miraculously heal minor wounds, can also explode your heart if you take more then the safe amount within the span of an hour.”

A drug capable of regenerating wounds? How? That seemed illogical. What kind of scientist was capable of such creations. Especially ones that had a very lethal draw back. Jack regarded the sheriff's words before setting the broken device back to the floor and standing up, the cowpoke following.

“I, heard one of these guys mention the word, “howitzer.” Right before things got out of hand. Sheriff Springs, does that name ring any bells?” Jack didn't have much to go on in relation to what Ava's note had described to him. Still, he didn't feel the utmost comfortable in relating the note's information to the authorities just yet. If it was information that required their assistance then Ava would have to tell them herself. He just hoped Sera understood that too.

“Hell, Sure ah know who these useless pricks are. Their all part of a small gang that regularly does business with us. Till now I didn't think nothing of them. They stayed out of the citizens hair and so I let them be, but after pulling a stunt like this, they better think twice before showing their ugly mugs near these city gates again.” The sheriff abruptly kicked one of the bodies to add emphasis.

[Swiftnife]

“Look miss, I don't know what your fishing for. But I'm not biting. Whoever the hell this “Red devil” fella is, he ain't here! So get lost! I've got enough problems already...”

How could someone recognize him? More importantly, who the hell was this girl sitting beside him? Well she did seem very familiar, especially with that tomboy demeanour and unique tone of voice. As much as he tried to though. He couldn't recall where he had seen someone like her. Downing another round, Swiftnife pondered over the possibility that this young woman was an assassin trying to lull him into that false sense of security that all well trained silent killers were infamous for. If she was, the woman was damn good at it. Almost believable really. But Swift wasn't born yesterday.

Keeping his attention on her, the Senti watched as the woman regarded him with a slightly disappointed look, before deciding it best to focus on her own glass. “I... use to look up to you ya know, back when you still came to the orphanage...”

That made him raise a brow. Orphanage? What in the irradiated hell was this woman talking about? He thought a moment. Then slowly, it dawned on him. With an annoyed sigh Swiftnife pushed aside the shot glass so he could delve right into the liquor bottle itself. He didn't need this, he didn't have time for this dramatic bullshit. His brother's killer was out there enjoying a life without punishment and here he was, at a crossroads with himself on wither or not he should just walk right on out. But... that's not what his brother would have done.

Taking a swig, Swift belched before setting the liquor down and keeping his focus on the many bottles that littered the shelves just beyond the counter in front of him, she had won alright. “Why are you here Nikki? The last time I heard, you left the orphanage to make a name for yourself.”

“H-how? How do you know that?” The young woman stammered, unsure of what to do with the situation. She was never good at being caught off guard. Swift knew, he had help raise her at one point after all.

Clearing his throat he turned to her. “I have my sources. So, have you gotten better at flying? You don't still crash do you?”

The young tomboy huffed crossing her arms defensively. Yep, she was still the same girl. “I don't crash! I fall with style! and if you must to know I'm a master of my ability now. The best of the best they say.”

Swift raised a brow. “Oh? So your not the, “Rash, brash, young lass, who can crash” anymore?”

Nikki narrowed her brow. “Nope! In fact, the kids idolize me now. Some even wanna be like me when they grow up!”

Swiftnife locked eyes with the woman as the two acquaintances had a fierce stare down. At first, it looked as though he would win. But once Nikki pulled a quick goofy face that involved sticking her tongue out and blowing a raspberry. He blinked and the tomboy fist pumped in grand triumph, before both broke into a chuckle.

This was missed. It had been far too long since Swift had smiled. What with revenge and the annoying harsh jobs that barely paid a penny to complete. He was, in a way thankful that someone whom he had thought actually had forgotten about him still remembered his better days. He was also glad that Nikki once again had a smile on her face. She never could pull off the whole, “moody badass” routine like he could.

[Nicole : Oregon Junction : Hanger Bay 3]

The ride back home had not been splendid. Not at all. Besides having to deal with her own duties as a member of the council. Nicole regrettably now had to give charity to the very monster whom she felt a burning desire to kill. She would not be out done however by the others. No, she would simply abide by the ruling for now. If this was the wish of those who sided with her. She would obey. But by the hell of the damaged earth Nicole would get to the bottom of these strange and sudden turn of events and wipe them out.

But right now, the widow tapped her foot impatiently within a hanger belonging to her own junction while she gathered the requested aid. “Malcolm, what is taking that godforsaken machine so long?”

The man beside her. A well disciplined individual who could always be recognized by his red military beret and dark shades, turned his attention to a small device mounted on his wrist and fiddled with a few buttons. “Ma'am, they should be arriving any second now.”

With a hiss, two large steel doors adjacent to the duo slid open as a humanoid individual clad in both elaborate clothing and armor plating, stepped out. Trailing not far behind, three towering andros belonging to the C.E.C. Followed. Three of Nicole's own contingent. Prepped with a custom arsenal, comprised of a RF MK-40 Pelter instead of a plasma cannon on their left arm and the usual Vibro grip blade present on their right. The blue and white painted trio were ready for anything as they made their presence know with the heavy Digitigrade foot falls that echoed throughout the bay. These where the protectors of the people. These, were Footmobiles.

Even after observing them a hundred times, Nicole could still not shake away that feeling of authority the machines demanded by their mere presence. They, were the guardians meant to police the nightmare that was the outside world. An army, meant to protect the innocent from monsters surrounding. Nicole sighed, as the appointed leader of this current trio stopped before her. Standing at attention and ready to follow whatever command she would submit.

“What is your bidding, my mistress.” The voice was calm, with a slight smoky electric tone that spoke much about the individual present in front of her. Out of all the personal bodyguards she could have had at her disposal. The Freak Striker Corps were the best against the rest. They were a reliable group of androids meant for a more broader purpose then just insuring her safety. The one standing before her in all his vibrant glory, was Zurai. The group's leader.

With the power to harness lightning, combined with an almost unparalleled hand to hand combat ability. Zurai was a lethal monsoon by himself. Pitted with the rest of his troop and they were the apocalypse.

Casually attired in a unique long coat that was the distinguishing uniform present upon each member of Nicole's guard. Zurai also sported a simple loose hood along with special baggy trousers that fastened at the ankles, knees and waist. Accompanied by a utility belt with attached loincloth that was mainly for decorative purposes.

Past his clothing his body was littered with light armor plating which provided some semblance of protection while also containing his high manoeuvrability. Out of all the members belonging to the FSC this one resembled something of a ninja the most. Which made Nicole almost laugh the first time she was introduced to him.

“Zurai, I'm glad you could finally join us. Should I get started with your debriefing now? Or would you like me to wait another lifetime?” Nicole wasn't one for patience, not anymore at least. When she wanted results she needed them. Now.

Zurai shook his head in reply. “Negative, it is to my understanding that innocent lives are at risk. Time is not on our side, mistress.”

Crossing her arms, Nicole rolled her eyes. She had forgotten that Zurai never was one for sarcasm. “Right... well here is the run down. According to the Headmaster, you and that sonofabitch Hawkins are each taking a share in the fight. Right now, I'm waiting on a response from that b*****d on where you are going to be stationed. You, and the team I have provided you with will be on clean up duty in either Splinterburg or Hanover. If it comes down to it and little Hawkins can't even hold one of the places on his own. The three andros will provide support to his section. I trust you can handle things alone should it come to that yes?”

The android nodded. “Mistress, you out of all individuals present are aware of the fact that I am capable of eliminating threats such as these with a hundred percent more efficiency then most Senti.”

Nicole pinched the bridge of her nose, she felt a headache coming on. “Yes, I know Zurai. But, to keep up appearances I forbid you on using your full abilities. This is not like the usual Ops I send you on. Here, people will know who you are. So, in order to avoid any suspicious questioning that could buzz my way. You will refrain to utilizing your Volt Magnums. This mission is a level one restriction priority. Under no circumstances are you to release any of your phase restraints. Understand? No matter the danger.”

Sera scratched her chin for a moment. she had heard that term before, that odd word that Jack spoke to Springs, though for some reason, she swore she heard it before. However, she couldn't exactly remember where, and who spoke it. Yet for some reason, the word stuck in her brain like a nail in wood.

"Stim Popper, eh?" she decided to turn her attention back to the drug. "I've heard rumors about it , but didn't actually think they were true." she knelt down to get a closer look at the substance. It looked a lot like blood, but only if it was pure red cells and tightly packed together to make a thick, almost gooey mixture. She wanted to dab a finger in it, but refrained. Best save that kind of stuff for an expert.

Sera stood back up, glancing to Ava and Douglas, then back to Springs and Jack. "Well, I believe our work here is done. All that fighting kinda made me hungry again." she then laughed at her own joke, not particularly caring if the others got it.

Zach returned to his room and promptly flopped into the nearest chair. Since it was the one by the desk, he decided to rest his elbows on it, slumping his head in his hands.

"Something wrong?"

Zach didn't even acknowledge Madelaine was here, though didn't need to; he knew her habits. "A whole lot of things are wrong."

"You know you can tell me." Maddie took a sip of her coffee. It was about her third batch now. "Something holding you back?"

Zach spun around to face his subordinate. "Since the rest of the council, aside from the Headmaster, didn't want to help, I'm now forced to work alongside Nicole, since, for some unknown reason, she decided to put her two cents in."

"Oh god, don't tell me she's partnering you up with some Footmobiles."

"I don't want to think so, but it seems that way." Zach sighed. "any news from Theo?"

"Nope."

"Damn. Zach had a lot of trust in the boy, and would rather he not die on the battlefield, or worse, become something's lunch. He swiveled back to face the desk, entering in a bunch of codes on the screen.

"By the way, I made a folder for you to glance through. It has a bunch of suspicious photos I found while you were in the hall." The "hall", as Maddie called it, was the Council's debate room that Zach had just come from.

"I'll look at it later. I need to make a call I wish I didn't have to." A five digit number appeared on the screen, and a small bar slid under it periodically. This was a phone number, and the bar represented he was trying to call it. Short and to the point, Zach. You can do this.

[Nicole : Oregon Junction : Hanger Bay 3]

“Ma'am, you have a call waiting. Its from, Councilmen Hawkins.”

A temper could not flare to such a degree as it did then for Nicole McGregory. But, she composed herself. This call was way past due. It was classic, for that little wretch to take his time. Turning to Malcolm she motioned for him to send it through as Zurai found a spot next to her, gesturing for his team of three to head on to the transport and await him to board.

With a few button taps and a switch flip. The red beret tossed out a holographic viewing window seemingly out of nowhere, Adjusting its size accordingly in response to the audience. Malcolm was a handy individual. While having undying loyalty to her command, he also knew his way around technology almost as good Alanna did.

After a few moments of impatient waiting. The screen came to life, and upon it. Was the mug of Zachary. Throwing on her best facade of a mask. Nicole cleared her throat. “Councilmen Hawkins, what a delight it is to hear from you. With all that is happening I was beginning to fear you had forgotten about us. Have you finally decided where this unit I have put together might now be stationed?”

Taking a step forward, Zurai motioned with his hand to the waiting transport craft not far off from their position. “The team has been assembled with myself on lead. We are primed and ready to engage the enemy threat at a moments notice.”

Nicole regarded the mechanical bodyguard with a slight annoyance that seemed entirely unapparent upon her visible features. She hated when Zurai found it necessary to give voice to a topic he didn't need to address. He was a machine. He was suppose to follow orders and address only her. Even so, Nicole couldn't understand what Alanna saw in him.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 03, 2013 3:06 pm

Zach paid little regard for Nicole's demeanor and decided instead to get straight to the point. "Indeed I have. I want you and your troops to head to Splinterburg." the main reason for this choice was he wanted to see Theo personally, but in the back of his mind, he would regret not showing up to Splinterburg himself. Another reason is that he feared Theo may be mistaken for some reason and killed, f not by the hands of the mutant threat already. "It's not much of a Junction, as settlement is fairly new compared to others, but I want you there with all speed."

Zach then moved the window with Nicole's face temporarily out of the way as he searched for the best directory to the area from Nicole's location in Oregon. His work was surprisingly fast, and Maddie, who was watching silently, was impressed with his speed. "I'm uploading the coordinates to you now. I trust you will do your best out there." though he was still concerned, he was willing to give his nemesis the benefit of the doubt. When the coordinates were sent he disconnected his end, the screen with Nicole vanishing.

Heaving a sigh, he leaned back in the chair, and promptly covered his face with his arms. "God, I hope she lives up to that."

"We'll just have to see if time allows us the opportunity." Madelaine took a large swig of her coffee. "You never know, she may actually keep her end of the bargain."

"I suppose." Zach then stood up as he began to leave. "Wish me luck."

The stale air blew wildly on the highway, often shifting things and making the road dangerous to travel, if it already wasn't crumbling. The soft roar of an engine echoed on the wind as a lone traveler drove along the beaten asphalt. The trip may be rough, but in Rory's eyes, it was exhilarating. A light blue flame erupted from the gas pipes, and the bike she was riding suddenly gained a burst in speed, leaving a blue trail of fire behind, the wheels churning up more cement and debris than was already present.

The smoke from her cigarette kept getting in her face, so she moved it to the side of her mouth, letting the fumes run past her cheek. She heard many times that smoking was bad for her, but she never felt any of these effects personally. Perhaps it was due in part to her fiery nature, as she figured it just soaked up the toxic chemicals to power her own flame. Either way, the sensation was good, and somehow, the smoke drifting along her cheek seemed almost comforting, in a strange sense.

Turning her head to the left, she thought she spotted something move along the mountainous ridges across the low surface of the lake. Yet nothing revealed itself. Shrugging, she turned her attention back to the road. This is what she loved the most in her life, just driving around with little care in the world or the state it was in, even if it was a shitty one. She held little regard for anyone other than her boss, the only man she cared about, if only because he was her source of income on these rough jobs that most other rookies wouldn't even dare to attempt. She was a force of nature, a deadly weapon that favored steel and rubber to the hovercrafts to move around.

The road turned off sharply to the left, leading past the mountains and towards her eventual destination. Yet she stopped for some reason, getting off her bike and propping it with the kickstand. The bike was a nice shade of blue, a color she liked, which seemed to match her attire as well. She dusted off her blue vest before fixing the collar of her black coat, stepping to the edge of the highway and gazing out at the scene before her. Crumbling ruins of buildings and mountains of debris littered the landscape, as a sharp cliff dropped off into the receding lake surface, which was, as far as she knew, stained with the same toxic elements that were found in the meteor that caused this apocalypse.

Rory took a deep breath with her nose before letting out a slight sigh. "Ah, nothing like the smell of sulfur and hydrogen to make someone realize how good they've got it." True, the world could have been completely wiped out, and the human race extinct. But somehow, they persevered through this tribulation. After a while of gazing, Rory got back on her bike, knocking the kickstand back into place before tearing off, leaving another blue trail of flame.

[Jack : Steel Town : Steel Meals]

The entire inside of the restaurant was a complete and utter mess. After the little ballroom blitz between Sera, the Thugs and Jack. Things needed to be cleaned of the blood that had been spilled. Steel Meals wasn't gonna be reopening for a while. Jack knew that much. Still, the battle hadn't broken the appetite of his female friend. At least, he thought that after all this they were friends.

Feeling a tap on his shoulder, Jack looked to see Douglas next to him as he grabbed the mimics hand and gave a small smile. That was right, during the long fight. Jack had helped save the man's daughter. A feat, the old caravan driver was more then grateful for.

“Thank you, Jack, miss Sera. For saving my little Ava.” Douglas began, motioning to the young waitress beside him. “The day... has been a hard one for me. But, I'm glad it hasn't become harder.”

The aged man's voice seemed to waver slightly as he spoke. Something was still wrong. But, Jack thought it best to leave that question for another time. Right now seemed appropriate to revel in the victory.

Hearing a small cough, a young man made his presence known to everyone else. Simply dressed in an apron, grey shirt, brown trousers and some boots. The individual seemed very awkward to everyone present as he fidgeted with his rifle before slinging it over a shoulder. The Apron, was a dead give away as to what he did for a living and judging by how Douglas regarded him with dangerous eyes. This man was the cook for this establishment. But why was the caravan driver so wary of him.

“Well, you guys should clear on out.” Sheriff Springs chimed in, looking to the small tension that was building. “Ah'll have my deputies clean up this mess, lord knows they need the excitement.”

To this, Douglas nodded slowly before making his exit. Ava followed but stopped just short of the entrance. “When you have the time, Sera, Jack, I need to talk to both of you later. You can find me at the common house apartments, its the tallest building between the only two other restaurants in town. I live floor three, room number is 312.”

Jack nodded with a small smile that Ava returned, before she left to follow her father.

Glancing back to Sera, the mimic let out a sigh. “Well, we better do what the sheriff says. You wanna, go check out another restaurant? I imagine this place is gonna be closed indefinitely for a while.” Jack then remembered the cook. Who appear to have realized he was being awkward and decided to busy himself by surveying the damage. Who was this guy really anyways? The mimic knew the young man was the cook. But there was more to that thanks to the way Douglas viewed him. The way the old man stared at the guy with daggers in his eyes, how easily the man appeared intimidated and also the fact he was missing during the fight were all clues to this. The only answer pointed to the cook fleeing the scene when things flew out of hand. Douglas must have viewed him as a coward for not helping defend his daughter. That had to be it.

[Swiftnife]

“So Nikki, how is the orphanage holding up? As you probably have heard, I can't really go to the Citadel Hub City anymore.”

The bar, was just entering its last few hours before closing. Which meant that the outside was going to become considerably more dark then it already was thanks to the ash cloud covered sky. But, that didn't raise a cause for concern to Swiftnife. He was a good friend of the bar owner and that, had its own rewards. Especially when one such reward meant the place was accessible even after hours. Having switched his liquor for water, the gruff Senti listened to the daily dealings and details of the life his number one fan and past student had made for herself.

“The orphanage? Its doing well I guess. I drop in from time to time, when I'm not too busy with my job.”

Swift looked to Nikki questionably, “You have a job? Doing what?”

The tomboy smirked, “I'm a courier, for the Senti Express!” She announced proudly.

Swiftnife blinked a few times before everything finally registered. So, that's how she found him. The Senti express was a well established mail service that expanded around the globe. The only requirements needed to work with them was that you were a Senti who contained the unique ability to travel long distances ex: flight, and were stupidly brave. Looking at Nikki, Swift wasn't surprised.

“Well... congrats, on the job." he responded, giving a light smile.

Nikki looked at her glass of water, before smiling warmly, “thanks. You know, that means a lot coming from you.”

“I... I know.” Swift said with a sigh. This, young woman. This rash, tomboy. She had idolized him pretty much her whole life and Swift knew this. But when he lost his brother. Things just... began taking more priority, and no matter how much he wanted to say they now didn't. He knew, he would be lying to himself.
