Shearaha This is a question mainly for TeaDidikai. Only recently, last year, learning that G~ is a racial slur I have stumbled onto a problem. When people use the term to denote a person or people I will make them aware of what it means, but I'm not sure if I should say anything when someone names their pet G~. My aunt has a cat named G~, I have several online friends with dog/cats/other pets with the same name. I'm just not sure if I should speak up in this case as it's being used as a name for a beloved pet. Not to step on her toes here, but my guess is it would follow the same formula as before. "Would you name your cat n~? If not, why is g~ acceptable?"

Thank you for linking that article. Would you mind if I linked it to those who have named their pets G~. I think it might be a little easier for them to read the article then just have a random person over the internet disagree with their pets name.

I'm gonna be out for a bit folks. Need a break from the rage inducing elements that make Gaia such a treat nowadays. I'll still check PM's so if you need me, that's the way to get me.
Alternately if you know my contact info outside of Gaia, you can use that too.

maenad nuri Am listening to a re-run of Speaking of Faith's Ectastic Faith of Rumi, and man, I freaking love Rumi. Even more than before. It almost makes me want to drop everything, become a Sufi ....but I'm polytheistic to the bone, so I'll take the lessons on love as they come. I know exactly how you feel! The yoga instructor that I had a few years ago used to read us his poetry during certain parts of our mediations and I fell absolutely in love with him! I want to get a better feel for maqam so that I can set some of his poetry to music like I do with Yeats. I found the archive of it, so I'll have to give it a listen later ^_^

Shearaha Thank you for linking that article. Welcome. Quote: Would you mind if I linked it to those who have named their pets G~. Knock yourself out. The author of the piece makes a passing reference to something I always found a little insulting. "How romantic the G~ are! I think I shall name a dirty, non-sentient being after them!"

Never need to thank me for the truth. wink Shearaha Fiddler. Would you mind if I PM'd you a question? I don't want to be too forward. Go right ahead, sorry for the delay in response there. 3nodding Very little in the world of lightning and innovation is too forward towards me. On an aside, I am feeling strangely calm of late.

Its this book i've been reading where people who die com e back dead, with no civil rights. Its fiction, but they lose EVERYTHING. Their social security number, they get crap thrown at them, they're chopped up and sold, they basically have no rights. Then eventually at some point in the story, our protagonist zombie "does it" with another zombie. And that just raised SO many questions. gonk

The bright cyan that highlights the section of the site you're in is too painful for me. I'm going to have to leave Gaia for a while, y'all. I may be on for limited amounts of time now and again, but that's it unless they change. it.
