Vahn Fah I'd rather not have you involved, because every-time you bring in Chen, you start to turn into a real p***k about s**t. Any other character, you do fine- but ******** me if that guy doesn't bring out the worst in me. I never turn into a real p***k about it. But it's probably because the things I do with Chen is like being a real cop, and you're just naturally rebellious. Yusuke is easier to rp with because he's easygoing and not strict. Whereas, Chen's a dedicated cop, a lawkeeper who brings down the hammer on anyone who is doing something bad. I make him tolerable by not letting him handcuff every criminal he meets. In fact, he rather keep some criminals as allies, to help catch the bigger fish.

Oh come on, Ed. Don't you think that's the wrong attitude to go about roleplay?
I'm actually glad this is being discussed rather than just "I'm going to go ahead and do it."
If it brings out the worst in you, and you're aware that it brings out what you consider to be "the worst", then doesn't that tell you it's not the right way to feel?

Vintrict But it's probably because the things I do with Chen is like being a real cop But isn't that what Fen and everyone else have told you is the problem? That you -arent- acting like a real cop with Chen? And no, I'm not nagging about this. I'm just talking about it before anyone snarks in on it.

I'm very close to venting everyone in this thread into nothingness.
Most of my commentary is especially bitter because I have no game to play since I got cap-rushed and decided to quit.

My definition of a real cop means an enforcer of the law. And in a place like Gaia, a Gaian cop has many definitions.

Cap-rushed? That sucks. Seems like that's becoming more popular. I haven't really felt like playing recently either, Ed, for similar reasons, so don't feel bad. It seems like it's really hard to reach a middle ground in that game where it can be played competitively, while still being fun for everyone. Cog was right when he said it's no fun for the person who gets rushed at the beginning and then is out of the game for the next couple of hours while everyone else plays. That's something that really needs to be fixed.

I started out with the Vasari, deciding it was time for me to learn them.
I picked their world bombing ship as my freebie, and built two war stations to research the missile frigates for them.
With that, I conquered 1 volcanic and 2 asteroids. Then I went on to find an asteroid that Fish had taken and decided to raze it, just to harass him. Had no intention of taking it.
Then I jumped a planet further up and found his Kol capship at 50% health. I decided to go blow it up, which I did. Then his Carrier capship came in and started tearing my missile escorts to pieces.
I decided to retreat and heal up-- having to deal with over 1k of bounty put on me probably as a result of blowing up Fish' ship.
Then Steve decided to come to my volcanic planet with 4 capships.
In like, the first 20 minutes of the game or something.
I quit the game at that point, because I had no clue how to use the race I was just starting out with and didn't really have a lot of planets to begin with.

One thing to learn about this group is: If you're trying to learn to play a game/certain race in a game, don't join one of their games.
Pretty much big jerks when it comes to that stuff. "Oh you're learning to play? Alright I'll bombard you so much that you learn nothing, except that I know how to play and you don't!"

"Oh you're learning to play? Alright I'll bombard you so much that you learn nothing, except that I know how to play and you don't!" Pretty much why I refused to play with Dash in SINS anymore. And now Steve is going to have to go on that list if this is anything to go by. I'm always pretty much laughed at because I can never get more than 4-5 planets in any game. I just don't know how to play any better.
