Collowrath When I return to Slovakia, this is going to change.I can never understand that kind of blind hatred and racism. Especially people like the Slovaks who have been in that marginalized position before. After so many centuries and how much Europe touts itself as progressive, you'd think they'd stop this monstrosity - not just in Hungary or Slovakia, but everywhere. crying You should see some of my Indian relatives in the UK. They just treat Eastern Europeans and Pakistanis very awfully. Sometimes, I'm scared of living with my relatives just in case it rubs off on me. gonk

Unfortunately, I've experienced the receiving end of this. sad My adoptive family is Indian - the powwows that are hosted in my city are filled with cultural tourists that have simply come to look at all the pretty dresses. They don't even see them as human, even when the massive effects of generational trauma are staring them in the face. STD: It better not rub off on you!! scream

Going to Equality & Justice Day tomorrow in Albany, NY. I have to wake up at 3am tomorrow but it'll be worth it if I can contribute to getting Marriage Equality and GENDA passed in my state.
For those not in the know: GENDA = Gender Expression Non Discrimination Act.
You see, transgendered NYers can be legally fired, denied housing, denied credit, denied jobs and denied entry into schools simply for being transgendered or having a gender expression that would put us into the TG spectrum here. We have no legal recourse. There are no laws protecting us from discrimination based on our gender identity and gender expression.
If my job fired me right now and my boss told me to my face that he did it because I was a "dirty shemale" I would have no legal backing whatsoever (not that my boss would do that, he's really cool about me being trans).
But yes, we need GENDA passed asap. So wish me and the other kids lobbying for this luck! Pray, channel, energy share, cast some luck spells, whatever you do that could help us out here, I will gladly accept your gestures and help. <3
I'll be gone the whole day tomorrow. You'll see me on Wednesday though. Maybe I'll even have pictures from the rally set for the afternoon!

Recursive Paradox There's a lot of Biotech in central California so the chances of ending up there are high. Same with Oregon and Washington. Basically I doubt I'll be on the east coast after graduation. Oregon Oregon Oregon~~ biggrin

Even had me a little fantasy of playing guard on a family's porch just in case some racist ******** decided to try something. Heh. Makes me think I should've gone into criminal justice instead of environmental studies. I've considered working as a private detective before. When I get really emotionally involved in something, I can be relentless. That article reminds me why I considered that career option in the first place. There're a lot of things in the world that make me mad. A job like that might let me do something about it.
