Lots of people don't realise that there can be diffent types of divinities. Depending on the version, Medousa doesn't even start as completely human.

Lost the game on words like idiot, imbecile and moron. Those have entered the lexicon and are too far gone to be realized that they were categories of mental retardation! I'm working on "lame" myself. Crazy is also problematic, but I haven't figure out what I actually mean what I say it. I put this up on my lj too -- got some interesting responses.

There are some terms that I use every day at work that just don't make sense outside of there.
"Freaky" means an jumpy animal that one moment is sitting quietly and the next is about four feet off the ground flaling al over the place because you touched it.
"Knock down" Is our slang for anesthitize. First time I used it outside of work with other RVTs no one had a clue what I was talking about.
I know that there are terms that we use daily that have one meaning out here and another in there.

I had a year-long depression followed by a four-year bout with undiagnosed atypical OCD. All obsessions + no compulsions = no visible sign of wrongness. sweatdrop For me, the worst part was not knowing what was wrong with me. If you don't mind, may I ask if that was the same for you?

He did kind of ******** off to Egypt. I love for people to learn from their own mistakes. It creates a more real and lasting lesson methinks. Well, he did kinda ******** off to Egypt 'cause Octavian was scum. He was Loyal to Ceasar. He avenged him, and did so in fine Roman style. Personal loyalty. It is earned. It cannot be transferred. Especially not to some megalomaniacal man-child on a rampage. Not that Anthony wasn't a megalomaniac on a rampage, but what's the fun in history if we don't play favourites? Keep in mind, I personally favour Cicero, and he and Anthony hated each other.

We're quite lucky in that we have a lot of colloquialisms that have developed aside from direct relation to mental retardation such as 'eejet', 'gobshite', 'gombeen', in hiberno-english, or 'dope' and 'cracked' in dublineese. That said, I do often use the word 'retarded' in the sense of slow, such as "that service was retarded", or "traffic today is retarded" and find many people get offended and confused by my use of it despite the context.

mute_coyote For me, the worst part was not knowing what was wrong with me. If you don't mind, may I ask if that was the same for you? That was entirely my problem for most of it. I thought that kind of pain was normal for male bodied people. x_x
