Leon awoke with a bit of a headache and feeling disoriented. He looked around and saw that a maiden had fallen asleep watching over him. He appreciated the gesture and wanted to let her get some well deserved rest, so he had to be quiet. He looked around the room until he spotted his clothes and personal effects. He quietly dressed himself and strapped on his daggers, then adjusted the lockpicks in his boot so they were in a more comfortable position. He then snuck silently out of the room, making sure to hold the handle down until the door was in position and then slowly released it so it did not snap when it latched. He walked through the short hallway and down the stairs to see Ganner and a fatherly looking dwarf discussing something over a meal. He suddenly realized just how hungry he was.

He slinked the rest of the way down the stairs and spoke to the serving girl, giving her his most winning smile "Miss, would you please bring me a small loaf of bread, an apple and some honey, as well as a small cup of white wine?" He handed her a gold coin which he produced from somewhere within his pack. He had taken a more than modest sum of gold with him when he left the Gang, just shy of a thousand pieces. so he had the coin to spare to give the young lady a nice tip. She smiled and accepted the coin. "I'll be right back with that. Have a seat anywhere." and she wandered into the kitchen, grinning with delight.

Leon sat down next ganner and the dwarven man. "Morning."

"Hey," Ganner said cheerily when Halcyon sat down with him and Alister. "You look good. First time I've seen you when you weren't dying. It's a good look for you." Ganner gestured to Alister. "Say thank you. You'd probably be dead by now, or close to it, if it weren't for Alister here. Cleric of Moradin extraordinaire."

Leon nodded to the dwarven man. " I thank you Alister. I owe you a debt of gratitude. And you too Ganner." Just then the serving girl arrived with Leon's meal. "thank you miss." he said to her. She smiled a cheery blushing smile and went back to cleaning tables.

When Leon joined them Alister greeted him cheerfully. "Ah, its is good to see you up an about my friend. I trust you are feeling in better spirits? You had us worried, but it seems Moradin has put our minds at ease." he said

After Leon thanked him, Alister nodded. "You are very welcome. I am just glad to see you are well and not surprised to see you have developed quite an appetite. That is a good sign that you have healed much."

((let me know when you guys want to press on.))

"Well, now that you're back on your feet we can start thinking about what we want to do next." Ganner said as he set his empty plate aside. "Alister tells me that for daring adventurers such as ourselves this little village is about the most boring place we could find ourselves."
Ganner turned back to Alister. "How about caravans? Do people ever leave this place? I'm sure there's somebody here who has to ship out their wares. Maybe we could do some caravan guarding?"

Alister thought for a moment. "Well I heard the villagers mention people from the north especially those from the mines come this way to head to Luskan to sell their wares and what they find in the mines. Caravans are less common, but they do pass on occasion."

As he was speaking, one of the farmers burst inside. "Brother Alister. Brother Alister, come quickly!" he said. Alister glanced at the others and then stood up. "Excuse me." he said politely leaving the table. He exited the inn and went outside. There seemed to be great commotion in the air. Most of the farmers were talking among each other. Anger clearly seen by their body language.

"I can't believe it. After we worked so hard. And now it's gone." said one.

"Be calm brothers. What has happened?" Alister asked trying to calm the situation.

"Our crops Brother Alister. And our flocks." he said pointing to the destroyed field and the broken pens. "We didn't notice until we had come to work. Whatever did this is destroying our livelihood. If this continues, we won't be able to stay during the coming winter. We don't have enough crops to sustain us." he said rather bitterly.

Alister put a hand on his shoulder, "Be strong my friend. Come show me the damage." He showed the trampled and uprooted crops following the the broken pig pen and chicken coops.

((Ganner and Leon can also join in if they want.))

Alister knelt down and examined the foot prints that were left in the soft earth. He narrowed his eyes and knew exactly who had ransacked the fields. "Goblins." he muttered.

((If Ganner or Leon have prior knowledge of goblin equipment and behaviors, they would see some rotten clothing and broken weapons laying about which will confirm Alister's suspicions. If either can track, he will be able to lead to the lair.))

Ganner sat quietly when Alister excused himself to head out with the farmers. Ganner raised an eyebrow to Leon in a questioning manner and then finished off his coffee in one long pull. Standing, Ganner rested his left hand on the pommel of his sword.
"Sounds like we might have something to do after all." He said. "I'm gonna check it out."
Ganner stepped outside and listened in from the porch of the inn as Alister spoke with the farmers. When they headed out to inspect the damages he trailed along behind them, not wanting to intrude since he was an unknown in the little village.
When they arrived at the farm Ganner almost immediately picked up the signs of goblins. The little bastards hadn't been very cautious and their footprints were stamped about all over. They had even dropped a couple of their poorly crafted weapons and some tattered bits of what passed for clothing among their kind. Looked like they had raided the place fast and hard.
Ganner watched as Alister went and examined some of the tracks closer up. He waited, deciding to follow the dwarf's lead, since he was more well known with the locals.

After mentioning the goblins, the farmers became more afraid of what would become of them. They could not afford to go after them. They were not fighters. If too many of them were killed there would be no one to tend the land and the village would stave. They then turned to Alister. "What can we do? Should we fight?" they asked but unsure since many have never even took up a weapon in their lives.

Alister shook his head. "No, I cannot afford to have you injured this close to the end of the growing season. I will go. I have dealt with their kind before." he said.

Just then one of the women came up wailing about one of the children missing. She ran to her husband with tears in her eyes. "Our son. Our son is missing. And a few of the other children are also gone" The farmer turned to Alister with worry in his eyes. Alister frowned fearing the worst. "Then I don't have much time. I will seek the goblins out, drive them from this land and bring your children home."

He looked to Ganner and Leon (if he came). "I know I'm in no position to ask since we have only just met, but can I ask for your assistance in this? I have no idea how many goblins are there and I fear that I may only endanger the children further without help."

Leon had followed along as well, having finished his meal quickly. He heard what Alister had asked and spoke. "We'll fight. Let me examine the tracks." he quickly went about decyphering the tracks. There twenty sets of them, all scrambled about. He found a spot where they converged in one direction and called to the others. "Over here! They went this way." He pointed towards the south, towards the direction from which they had come into town. A knot formed in his stomach. He turned to ganner and spoke with him under his breath. "Ganner, do you think it's the same goblins we passed by before?"

"I doubt it. They were days back. But these woods are well know to be teeming with the little bastards. And unless you can kill them all they just come right back from in a season or two. Like vermin." Ganner said, his grin having vanished. Ganner despised goblins, and other monstrous humanoids. He viewed them as a blight to be erased. "I'm definitely in for this. But we should head back to the inn. My armor is still there. That and we don't know how far out the gobbies came from, we should pack a few days rations just in case. Actually, probably more. Since we'll hopefully be having more people coming back with us."

"Alright, lets head back to the inn for supplies. You get your armor and I'll secure the rations." ((Unless anyone wants to do specifics, shall we skip ahead to the hunt?))

A short while later the three stood together again at the farm. Ganner had collected and donned his armor. His sword rode comfortably upon his hip. He opted to leave his crossbow behind. He figured that there would be too much close-quarters combat and didn't want the extra weight. Also, one ill aimed shot could hit the children. Ganner flexed his fist's inside his glove and gauntlet. He had not consumed any of his spells so far today, and was ready to use them all in the pursuit of the children. And the destruction of the goblin vermin.
"I'm ready." Ganner said. "Let's do this."

((time skip to the hunt it is then.))

Alister comforted the people as best he could and reassured them they would search for the children and take care of the goblins that may have been responsible for their poor growing season this year. They pleaded for the group to be safe and to bring their children home.

After the group returned to the inn to collect their belongings, Alister strapped the war hammer to his belt and collected his staff. He muttered a short prayer for guidance and strength before joining the others at the entrance of the inn. Once outside, Leon lead the way while Ganner and Alister followed.

The tracks lead the out of the fields toward the woods. Luckily the goblins were not bright enough to try and hide their tracks for they created an easily seen trail of trampled grass and broken branches if one was actually paying attention. Because of the thickness of the wood, the group moved slower than normal.

By mid afternoon, they came across a lighter vegetated area. Just beyond lay a small ruin of rubble. Surrounding the rubble patrolled a few goblins armed with spears. Around them lay strewn about various articles of clothing, simple objects, clearly stolen, and animal remains. The stones themselves were covered in vegetation and moss hanging from remained of overhang arches of wooden poles. The goblins are clearly patrolling and protecting something based on their movements and their behavior however what they are guarding is difficult to see beyond the tall grass without being seen themselves.

"How do you want to do this?" Ganner asked. "We don't know where the kids are, and the little bastards could hold them hostage against us if they bother to use their tiny little brains."
Ganner was starting to wish he'd trained himself in his magical skills more. He had a small array of spells, but most of them were up close. And the few that he had that he could use from a distance were either low-powered or he could only use a very limited number of times.
"Halcyon. You're a sneaky sort, aren't you?" Ganner asked. "Think you could get in there and find the kids? We could give you a certain amount of time and then launch an assault. Hopefully that'd draw more of them out this way, then you can secure the kid's escape. If something goes wrong just make some noise and we'll come charging in and take them while they're facing your way. What do you guys think?"

Leon set his gaze on the dark entrance. He had been thinking the same thing. He could sneak in there and find the children with little trouble, and then he could hold position and defend them with ease. "Yes I think that would be the best plan. I will need about twenty minutes to do a proper search. You may hear some commotion, but do not come looking. Just wait the full twenty minutes. I'll be fine, or I won't but the children stand a better chance of survival if they believe it was only me that came."
