A full moon graced the sky, so bright that no stars could be spied and the heavens, normally black, were a pale blue.
"It is quite a night, is it not?"
The voice startled you and you looked around the balcony. You could have sworn that it had been empty. How could you have missed her? Leaning against the railing, a girl with hair the shade of the moon and eyes the shade of the sky gazed at you with a small smile. Her dress was a blue, so light, it could have been mistaken for white. Although the Annual Ball was not a masquerade, the girl wore a silver mask that glinted in the moonlight.
You focused back on her words and nodded as you came by her side. Leaning against the railing to look out over the gardens below, you nodded again, "It really is. The moon is so bright tonight." You turned your gaze back up to the sky.
"It is rare for the moon to be this bright," You heard the girl say beside you, "On nights like these, the moon's glow reveals that which is normally hidden from sight."
You opened your mouth to reply, but were interrupted by the loud noise of numerous conversations. Glancing back, you saw a large group enter the quiet balcony. Turning to face the girl once more, you found the railing at your side empty. Blinking, you looked around the balcony for her. Where did she go? There was only one entrance to the balcony and you would have seen her leave. A frown fitted onto your face as you tried to figure out where she had gone, but no answer appeared. Returning your gaze to the railing where she had stood, you discovered a small present on the ground. Picking it up, you saw a note written in elegant calligraphy on it.My apologies for leaving so abruptly. Perhaps we will meet again one day...When you again find yourself noticing that which is normally unseen~
