"Well I wouldn't have minded something to nibble on, but he seems to have disappeared." Leith shrugged as she watched the blonde walk away from them. She observed Warakai as he laid out his tattered sail then adverted her attention to Lucien. She saw at once that he wasn't sitting on mere ground. Her eyes narrowed as she inspected him further. Could he be an elemental like herself? No, she wasn't going to press it... But how could she ignore him? She walked carefully towards him and whispered so only he could hear, "Are you an elemental?" Her fist was tight around her blade hilt but her heart beat was calm and her breathing normal. She was ready to fight if he proved more dangerous than he had lead on.

Mike walked along the bottom of the cliff, there most of the sparse foliage grew. He picked a few handfuls of the dry stuff, shoved his findings in his pockets, and looked for small pieces of driftwood. Mike's thoughts were on him and his brother, when they'd go camping all the time together, whether it be just the two of them, or some of his brother's friends. He still could never see all the stars at night, even in the mountains, because of all the city smog but he didnt mind so much. He missed camping. He missed his brother.

Collecting two handfuls of idle driftwood, Mike headed back to the site. On his way back, something bright red flashed in his peripheral vision. Snapping his head in that direction, he saw nothing. Mike squinted.
'It was probably a radio tower or something' he thought. Nothing to worry about.

Continuing his walk back, however, a thought kept pestering him. If Mike lit a fire here on the beach, would the guards see? The group was well away from the main harbor, but there was still a chance that someone from the city or the docks could see, since they were so far out to shore. He thought about looking for a cove somewhere where everyone could be safe and unseen, but Mike thought maybe they would just leave him on Warakai's boat. But If they were closer to the cliff, and even farther away from the harbor, maybe they could spend the night in peace. But then they'd have to move Warakai's boat...
Mike would ask. Maybe the others would think the same thing.
He finally made it back to camp, loaded with driftwood and weeds. He dumped it all on the ground well away from the boat and the water, then proceeded to eat another piece of jerky.

Lucien smiled. "Are you afraid?" He stood back up, the dark shadows receding from below him and plopped onto the shores under his feet. The waves lapped around his shoes and stained the hem of his pants. He slowly turned towards Leigh, still keeping a soft smile.

"I don't blame you I guess. Human beings are always afraid of what they don't understand. Its in their nature."

He pushed back the glasses on the rim of his nose, reflecting the dim light of the moon in the process.

Helped along by the unnatural warmth of the place, Jessie gradually fell asleep on the comfortable couch. It was a good thing she had remembered to lock the doors.

The dream she had was nothing like she had ever had. There she was, standing behind a podium in front of what looked like hundreds of thousands of people in what looked like the Empire's capital...she was recieving an ornately decorated sword...she was being led to a throne room...She was Overlord of the Empire, ruler over all.

From her golden throne she ordered the execution of all of the elementals, Not a single one was to be left alive. The Empire was to go on a global campaign, to dominate all. To conquer everything, so there would be nothing. And Jessie laughed.

A small pain awoke Jessie from her slumber. "Oh...what a dream." She said, rubbing her head. Her as Overlord? Come on. That would never happen. Not in a million years, she thought. Another shot of pain from her midsection cut off her train of thought, though. She was hungry. Sighing, she got up off the couch (which made her feel cold), grabbed her pistols and placed them in her holsters, grabbed a key and headed for the door. It was time to go dumster diving again.

"Yeah, I guess I wouldn't understand." Leith shrugged dismissively, trying to act like she didn't understand, and then turned to Mike as he dropped some fire wood supplies down on the sand. She walked over to him and said, "Maybe we shouldn't make a fire right here. The guards might see us."

"In any case, the answer should have been obvious already shouldn't it?" Asked Lucien as he walked back over to the sand helping assembling a cabin formation with the large pieces of driftwood. Then he shredded the other pieces up into kindling to put in the middle.

"Where ever there is light, there is always shadow. Unless they have heat seeking missiles, they won't find the light. I'll make sure of it."

Mike smiled when Leith had the same idea as him. He was about to pick everything back up when Lucien started building up the fire.
"Where ever there is light, there is always shadow. Unless they have heat seeking missiles, they won't find the light. I'll make sure of it," he said. Mike furrowed his eyebrows.
'What is he talking about?'
"You know," Mike started to say. "They may be dumb guards and droids, but they still have eyes."
And it was true. The Empire conveniently places bugs and cameras in most establishments and homes. This included the harbor as well as the gates. Mike wasn't sure how reliable they were, but he didn't want to find out.

Lucien grinned. What he was about to do wouldn't cost him much. He started the fire and blew it to become a normal flame. The clouds covered the moon entirely now. It was almost pitch black were it not for the flame. The night helped as with a single breath, the fire died out but its warmth remained. "I told Warakai before. To hide a shadow, stay in the dark." He sat by the consumed fire. You couldn't see it with the darkness being cast by the disappearance of the moon, but it was a small mercy. Droids wouldn't be able to pick it up out of night vision because the flame was nothing more than shadow now. But its heat and danger remained.

Leith silently absorbed the amazing feat Lucien had just performed. "Mike, he's a shadow elemental." She said seriously as she stared at the place where the fire was, but invisibly.
Leith wanted to stay by the fire and converse with these strangers, but so much was going on in her head she felt that she wouldn't be able to be comfortable with them. She was amazed that this guy was open about his abilities--did it mean that the others knew? Mike obviously didn't by his response, but then again he may be acting like her. Kai must have known because of the casual and almost dismissive way he was acting towards Lucien...And then there was her aunt. She couldn't stay out too late or else her aunt would worry and send out bolts of lightning from the heavens with her wrath...
Leith stared for another long moment at the shadowy flame, feeling the heat in her eyes and on her cheeks, and then turned away from it towards the ocean.
"I'm going for a swim." She said simply as she shucked off her shorts and pulled her shirt over her head, leaving her sandals in the sand. She waded out into the water and then disappeared under a small wave. She didn't care much about the danger of an undertow, she'd be able to save herself before she was in any trouble anyway. She hoped the other's wouldn't worry about her, though they had no reason to.

Lucien didn't bother looking back. If a girl says she's going for a swim then there she goes. He laid down on the sand with the hands behind his head. "The fire will still be here when you come back. I can't go anywhere anyways." He looked at silver pocketwatch and opened it to check the time. It wasn't even 3 yet. He sighed and began pacing, spinning the pocketwatch by the ring of the watch chain. whenever he found a twig he would snap it and throw it into the fire.

Mike watched as Lucien cast a shadow over the small campfire. He thought he could barely make it out in the darkness, but he couldn't be sure. And the warmth did remain, as intense as if it were a normal campfire. Mike tried to showed no emotion, except for the furrowing of his eyebrows. Lucien could control darkness.
'An Elemental, huh?' Mike licked his chapped lips as he stared at the campfire. The wood still burned and crackled. 'The hell's that?'
Mike watched as Leith walked into the ocean. He was sure that she'd freak out because it was so cold, but she seemed content. In fact, she dove under a small wave.
'How did I end up with these weirdoes?' Mike sniffed, still standing over the fire. He felt much warmer now, except now his back was freezing. Scoffing, he thought, 'I coulda made a much better fire than that.'
As much as Mike wanted to show them all by creating a huge bonfire, he know that'd be stupid. As stupid as murdering an innocent person... as stupid as trying to steal a boat... Mike swallowed, guilt filling up his stomach.
With that, he sat next to the fire, his head between his knees. Wrapping his good arm around his legs, he let the limp one lie in the sand to freeze.

Warakai finished with the sail returning it to a shadow of its former glory, he looked to see Mike sitting on the ground he decided he could wait a little while before leaving. Warakai looked to see Leith swimming and he immediately knew. The way she didn't just enter the water but it accepted her and embraced her the water responded similarly to his presence, Warakai smiled to himself meeting two elementals in one day was impossibly rare especially considering he was an elemental himself.

Leith broke the surface and stood staring out at the dark ocean. She was focused on the waves out there are they raged and was caught off gaurd by the exact thing she had expected to happen. She let out a quick cry as her feet were swept violently out from beneath her. Her scream was choked off by the salty water that filled her mouth and nose in half an instant. As soon as she could she forced the undertow to release her, but by then her lungs were already starting to protest from the little air they had to begin with.

Warakai was alerted by Lieth's cry and her sudden dissapearance of her head as she was caught in an undertow. He waited a few seconds for her to surface holding his own breath to try and get a measure of how long she could be able to stay down. A few more seconds passed and his half soaked shirt was cast off as he immediately dived from the side of his boat into the water calling on his powers to shoot through the water beyond the speed of a normal person he grabbed a hold of her creating a vortex around him to negate the current as he kicked off against the sand to surface as quickly as possible.
((Yay for heroism and unnecessary shirtlessness))

Leith gasped in a deep breath of air when her and Warakai surfaced. Her face was beat red, not because she was frightened but because she was highly embarassed to have needed any assistnace. When they were in safe enough water she pulled away from Kai a little too roughly. She turned towards him, her face a mixture of emotions. She knew he was one like her, water and all, but she was angry he hadn't given her enough time to save herself. He didn't have to show off just because he was better at controlling her powers than him.
She pushed her soaked hair back and said lowly in a shaking and almost appologetic tone, "I didn't need saving."
